On the line of songs...try Jo Stafford "Long Ago And Far Away".....theres a singing voice for you.
New Kid lol wrong song. I meant this for you and Mr Hester - he's almost an adopted Scot now anyhow after his stint at rbs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFou96NpyW8
You need a pouch of low fat Schwartz zesty orange and dill sauce to throw over that rainbow trout which is preferable to brown imo. The reason the nation loved J R Hartley was that he was a fly fisher who threw his catch back in the water. Have a nice time and wish your wife a very happy special wedding anniversary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX92G3Vji4E
Queenie....one lousy rainbow trout...and 4 slipped the hook before I could land them. Sounds like my sharedealing tactics...find them...then don't hold...darn it. Apart from that...I expressed my thoughts...explained why I was selling up...moved on at a small profit...and bought into something else. Cant be long until I get the cheap trading rates! All that said...this one, I'll be back in when I think the time is right for me...Toodlepips
Yes I think RSA is having a bad time. It got worse after I bought and maybe I was lucky to avg down and leave with a profit. If the divi was not under so much threat I may have even hung on but There was too much down side risk. At some point this will become cheap but its identifying that price or when on balance things are more likely to move positively. I personally love alb1ons insights as the more he mentions the more I know I dont know about insurance. I think you can invest in a company without knowing how to run it if the numbers stack up, its strong and has good history. I think the actions will stop RSA becoming another HMV but how long will it take to turn around and when or if to rejoin the party. If your a holder at a much higher price the options are probably different and unless you take your losses it look like riding this one out until the capital is sorted and so sort of divi come back. As for them doing an honest job, its more telling what they don't say and its better to direct you to look one way so you miss the dark corner that they want to remain hidden. I don't see why two similar companies cant make a profit be it supermarkets, oilys or shops even if they are fighting for the same pound. If I added to my supermarket pot I would look to see what was cheap at the time of buying and not just add more of the same thing cos I already hold them but had rocketed up to expensive levels. Just like this I may have bought again if it was cheap (very cheap without the divi) now I have a feel for it. I have several shares that I would like more of but they are too expensive IMO so will have to wait. Although they will all probably fall at the same time. Maybe the Ukraine news might turn into one of those events lets hope not or that RSA has any liabilities out that way. It puts our troubles into context! Maybe I should shove my RSA money into more SL. as they are upping the divi again, I think that every year now. I was hoping RSA would start doing the same before all that bad news came out
Well thanks anyway. I got out and put it somewhere better.
It's dangerous to base your investment on other people's views. Although, sometimes you get lucky. In any case, I didn't express myself clearly and you misunderstood me. What I meant was that they will hold the price up and keep everything rosy until they get your money from the rights issue. After that, they can allow the price to collapse and shoot the fishes they captured in their barrel. As the rights issue is still some time off. The price collapse is not yet here. The ups and downs now is just normal fluctuation. I am currently desperately hoping the price will go back up so that I could take on more shorts at better prices. Bank of america still has plenty of chances yet to get the price to their target of 105. Then they can off load to all the suckers and show the people following their recommendations how amazingly correct they are at their forecast.
The post yesterday morning at 8.21 by Abcdefgh was one of the deciding factors for me to sell. Quote Abcdefgh 08.21 Thursday: ( title) Why price high ? Simple. It stays high until they get your money. After that the price will go down so fast that you will be instantly locked in like a barrel of fish - erh I mean investors. Something is not right. My longs in EMG are rocketing today and I don't even know why.
Possibly be, but I think there is a bit more upside to Barclays. Just waiting for the big investments to start buying in.
I guess some people might be thinking along similar lines with regards to barc at this particular snapshot in time but if I came on that bb and said that to you then you would probably disagree.
I had 5000 shares at 103, I was so tempted to sell them on Wednesday at 102 and take the small loss but didn't. Sold them yesterday morning at 99p and took a bit larger loss. Its the best thing I could have done.
Nothing wrong to have negative posters. RSA is going down the pan and the negative posters save others from diving right into the sh*t. I am short. Naturally I hold a negative view. Although, personally, I prefer all people here as well as all the broker recommendations to be positive. That way I will know I am definitely right being short. For people looking for pain, go right ahead average down. But remember this: your suffering will be you own making.
Gerry is dissimilar to you in that he is backing two supermarkets whose share prices have taken a tumble. There are some posters even hold shares in three supermarkets and my logic tells me they cannot all be winners and, in fact, it reminds me of the days when posters on these bbs were backing both hmv and gmg at the same time - both companies are still around on the retail scene but in very slimmed down form and they are no longer plcs so you'll understand where I'm coming from if I say I am not buying any of the supermarkets at the moment. With regard to your previous work experience in the insurance sector, it may or may not be of assistance to you with regard to making investments. I think hickfromthesticks was in insurance as well. The truth is that on these bbs that we are interacting with individuals who can make all sorts of claims (no pun intended) and then vanish into the ether. There's a bit of dubiety about gerry for instance. One poster keeps portraying him as a long-term personal investor who likes to hold stuff long-term for divis and/or capital gain. gerry has never corrected this depiction of him. My own perception of gerry based on what he's said is that he has attended conference calls, moves about the same bbs as a small circle of posters and does a bit of short-term trading as well as long-termi investing. I am not in any line of business which gets me an invitation to presentations for analysts. I hold a small amount of rsa which cost me nothing as they were freebies from the recent volatility here. I'm holding on to these shares for any rights that might come my way and I am not selling them to you or gerry. Good call on debs by the way rbrand, I don't have your money or bottle. Have a nice weekend.
only yesterday, I saw the latest piece of many asking if he has lost his touch BUT insurance was his original speciality all those years ago so this must be good. QUEEN I am REALLY REALLY REALLY interested in buying some shares ! and 96p is not dear but in the nature of these rights issues it could go lower for a time. It is amazing how so many fail to understand the procedure and start talking about selling now because the sp will be lower after the issue. Like you I always take up my rights and I WILL !
I didnt read the report in great detail but noticed Warren's in da House! Now he is not normally on the wrong side of a deal so Im sure things must be pretty bad to get Berkshire Hathaway involved and although it might save the sick patient the medicine is likely to be expensive. Views anyone?
Gerry - there was nobody on this bb painting a rosy picture or dishing out constant buy recommendations in the face of the facts about the tough time this company is facing unlike on the bbs of the supermarket shares which you are holding. There has been lots of negative comment though on here from non-holders (as you pointed out) like yourself which does lead people to ask why are non-holders wasting their time and energy here. One poster in particular seems to expend an incredible amount of negative energy exclusively on this bb which I find mind blowing. It's perhaps stuff like this that led Paul Stomach to comment yesterday that this was one of the most depressing bbs he has read. You're going on about how much the share price fell over the past few days without mentioning about how much it went up in the same time frame! The company did a pretty honest job in its rns release yesterday and that's worth reading and following the progress or otherwise of the measures being taken to address current problems will be interesting but not one for non holders to obsess over I would have thought.
I was one of those talking down RSA's prospects and its has turned out as "expected" What didn't turn out as expected was how well the SP held up. I think it only dropped 6% initially but ended the day down just a few %. A bad day on the market in general could do this. I must admit I was expecting 10%+ Although I wasnt "de-ramping" as I voted with my feet (or wanga) and had sold up previously. Well at least most of the bad news is out now and there are some figures to work with to gestimate progress from here. No divi or 99% chance of no divi was the killer for me but hope things work out well for all involved.
Business is doing fine. Picked up six new clients over a very short space of time. Sorry immersed in homework issues and teenage first love isses for the past wee while. I think your new found investment strategies will give you more leisure time. atb goodnight.

another couple of months get bbq alive again if she is talking to me after being on her own for the winter lol jesting im much happier since i starting going long fed up chaseing like my teenagers days , think there is more dough to be had , of course if a very large profit comes my way i shall take it . hows ur accountancy going pressure?
I was looking out for garyn on the kaz bb today so that I could join in with all the boasting the men were doing and say I told you the results day would see this up. Why is it men rush onto the bbs when their shares rise dramatically to chat and brag to their "mates" whereas the first thing women do is check out their bank balance and head down the shops to do a bit of spending. Nearly the barbeque season for you.
hows you doing .things looking at here nice broker rateing prob in the wine bar ,any think new
Don't think those live prices you were giving us this morning were lost on me lol - not as DEPRESSING as had been predicted on this bb by several so no admonishment from me.
