Looks like the director has taken your advice and SOLD........ Not a good sign from the company in my opinion.
I agree with Buzle. The turnaround time plus the extra cash needed to buy into the RI makes this dead money as far as I am concerned. I bought some more at 87p following the Irish news and sold my entire holding at 105p on the rebound getting out with a very small profit (2.66% over the two years I held). I parked the money in Astra Zeneca and it has already gone up 13%, plus the dividend is due later this month and the yield is good. I learned my lesson from holding onto RBS for far too long hoping for a recovery before finally realising I was wasting time and money. I got out and bought NG. Again the divi has moved me along quite nicely since then. My rule is no divi no hold!
absolutely -- and yes you can if your prepared to put the work into it.
i think you have to decide that a right issue and no div will give a shorter term pain to get things back on track....then imo we are looking at 18 months before we get any real gains . Alternatively if you sell at a loss can you put that cash to better use and have it grow more by the end of that 18 months?
the ri will have to be at a discount to the current (or at the time price) but I suspect the longer they take about it the further the market will price that in and there's only one way mr market can do that.
The immediate concern is to make the rights issue a complete success. I am sure they can come up with something that will convince people they don't need a div. They could wheel out warren buffet in some way for instance. But it's an interesting game they are playing. I just wish they would hurry it up.
no divi? just my opinion mate but cant see how?
Nothing will be happening until after the rights issue. The issue price will be based on the market price at the time of announcement. So the higher the price the market more money they get from the holders. It won't surprise me if we get a big rally.
that this is still this price -- its like watching a train wreck in slow motion
Of which I am not but should be -- I'd make plenty wey this one
Any buyer's here ? This thing looks to be turning. Maybe it's because all the bad news are in the price already ? I need volunteers to shove this to 105. I am getting impatient to enter more shorts. I need my position in place before they announce the details on the rights issue. So come on guys, let's have a heave-hove on this.
I see you know your sums! You are teachers pet so have a Guinness on me
We take 2+2=5*10=50\0=(((IMF+ECB+EU)+Germany)*Irish government)=Generations of lost souls. Most of which will be our Irish children.
Yes, practically everyone on these boards buy the sells and sell the buys. But it's far better to go with the flow and buy the buys and sell the sells. The flow is always controlled by the banks and institutions. You will lose if you go against them. I don't understand how a news being out makes its deleterious effect irrelevant. Does that means if a company comes out and say "we are going bankrupt", that makes their shares a buy because the bad new is already out ? I am beginning to see why the "dividends investors" are buying RSA - because the news saying "there is no dividends here" is already out !
Abcdefgh - I read an article where the shares of recommended sellers out did the recommended buys and seem to suggest things were overdone both ways so you were better off buying ones that were "sells" or is that called being contrarian Van - As a holder I dont think you really have any other option but to take part ........ unless you dont think things will get better. I dont think that there will be much more bad new to out but suspect the SP will dip. Hopefully it will rise on an air of optimism for you now! and I feel a little better about apple products. Saw a bit on CNBC yesterday with Warren Buffet taking questions. He is getting his Mrs an low cost index tracker for her investments when he passes away but there was a hint that he might be in here some how. I did mention that he is not normally on the wrong side of a deal so maybe there is more detail to come on that Berkshire Hathaway involvement or I could just be making 2+2=5 .... just like any irish unit would do!
use an execution only broker - they should be cheaper and will not bother you with their daft opinions.
starting to look decidedly optimistic now -- where will the ri be? about 15% lower than that might be ok
...couldn't for the life of me work out how to get the link on....! Rubbish with IT me. Re RSA I'm a long, long time holder with an average of 93p. I will weigh up the pros and cons of the RI - I think it will be a long time before this lives around the 120p mark again....
A good starting point for longs is when brokers recommend you sell at this or that price to them. A good starting point for shorts is when brokers recommend you buy at this or that price from them. Brokers are rich because they know what they are doing.
Van, Is it you not knowing how to drive the pad or is it a poor advert for some over priced apple product? Maybe Its because I am learning to drive a Windows phone. Although I was initially slated by a few Apple types for my choice. I have since noted that they now own window phones and state that they wouldn't go back so its a fickle world. I can't comment either way but can cut n paste and have actually made a call with my phone too, so old fashioned I know. As for RSA, I would have though it was less risky now that the numbers are out whereas previously there were too many unknowns. How all this pans out I have no idea. I suspect that the SP will fall lower until the new shares are sorted as there must be some sort of dilution. Maybe JackD's option is along the line I would be looking at. Still no divi though but when capitalised and back making a profit with a positive outlook the SP should start to rise. The question is what would be a good starting point?
Meant of course: Gerry, thanks for link & Van for the heads up. - Cheers.
Van, thanks for link. Seems a less risky buy after the RI. In my experience of RIs (LLOY's, observing BARC, et al), most RIs stemming from desperate circumstances are rarely without both pros & cons for many investors, at least in the short-term. Not everything is immediately clear-cut. Keeping a close eye on this & may buy back after the RI, when a truer market value & the macro picture will be much clearer. GL.
Stop showing off with ya fancy link!!! I couldn't figure it out.....!
vannagabond you beat me too it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/markets/questor/10670256/Questor-share-tip-With-Hester-at-the-helm-RSA-is-worth-the-risk.html Risky buy!
RSA tipped as a buy in the telegraph....sorry don't know how to add the link using this ipad....
