Turkey has hiked its main interest rate from 8.5% to 15%, reversing one of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's unorthodox economic policies.

LTI, doing her best to get another thread removed. 24/7 posting most of which are a catalogue of arguments, seriously this person would call an ambulance before an Uber....

Skier I've long believed we're already balls deep into globalist government, communism without the slaughter (yet).
Pacify and confuse the masses with fear and porn. COVID was perfect timing for Starmer

Look at the author of that article, John McDonnell, tells you everything you need to know. There are loads of reasons why they wont push a windfall tax onto the banks; Two obvious ones is that they want banks to lend money to businesses, another is about ensuring banks have enough provision to offer solutions to struggling mortgage holders.

''You shouldn't be invested in Lloyds''
He isn't - clearly.
He is here just to push his own agenda.
Similar with DT - a non shareholder - always around like others peddling pessimism - weird people.

Simon1367,
The drumbeat of a UK bank windfall tax is growing louder by the day. This is just one example, from yesterday. We are moving into a new pseudo-Marxist era, where the state quietly takes control of our lives, including our finances. Times have changed, mate.

Exactly V.R, handouts seem to be the order of the day. Now we have more speak about forcing banks to help more..

Where is Falky ,
Wonder what he thinks of this ?
LLoyds overall LTV mortgage exposure isn't enough to put a dent in the ship, let alone a hole. It remains a great long term hold for me, paying a good dividend yeild (which also benefits pension funds).
To be LLOY is like the constonation in The Big Short (a true storey), when the bet against the mortgage market didn't start to yeild whicht defied all logic. Then, it hit a tipping point, and BOOM! You just have to hold your nerve with LLOY, as it will come good, AND pay healthy dividends. I have no issue in being in a minority.
UBS will go big today, again.
my ***s paid for by the stupid...hmm smoking is the stupidish thing anyone can do....
In the 60/70s rates were 10/15% it didn’t stop me buying a house, But we went without luxuries no car struggled to pay but we did it.Now they want it all two cars expensive holidays dining out.
Yes, UK interest rates today are still low, by recent historical standards.
The number of households with variable or soon-to-be-refixed mortgages in 2023 is tiny, less than 5% of total.
Everyone who wants one has a job.
Stay calm...
5% base rate yum yum , my f.a.gs & bar bill paid by the stupid .
