It’s fairly common to leave a pipeline in place. Depending on the method of setting I.e if it’s trenched and buried generally you will do more harm than good removing it.
Similarly, pipelines will usually be pigged and left in place, lots of sea creatures make homes around these if not buried.
It’s really not hard to explain why removing X km of pipeline from a sea floor swarming with life is a silly idea. But the. Governments arnt run by scientist or engineers, usually just idiots with a politics degree without a single clue of the fundamentals for what they are actually arguing for or against.
I think the same can be said about other Oil stocks Charlie, PTAL for instance have recently fallen off a cliff from 48p to 41p, i think they have bigger problems than JSE at the moment,
best go back over there and rally the troops
Good to see this forum acting as it should. A balanced forum is a healthy forum. Underneath the clueless ramps, there are legitimate questions about the business model and management, which as the share price shows are not going away.
Sadly not the case. Montara's production is now expected to cease in 2030 and Stag in 2035. They'll probably have the money to meet the liabilities but they are huge. Changes in costs/end of life year/required works have a big positive or negative impact.
Comments like Akatara exceeds the market cap so this is mispriced are idiotic because the liabilities are being ignored.
There's also this rather disturbing part of the annual report:
Currently, the Group’s approach to decommissioning is to leave subsea pipelines in situ at both Stag and Montara. NOPSEMA’s base case is full removal of subsea infrastructure, unless it can be proven there is a net environmental
benefit to leave the infrastructure in place. There is a risk that Jadestone would be required to remove subsea pipelines if the Group cannot prove a net environmental benefit of leaving them in situ. There have been no changes to the decommissioning risks associated with government policy in the regions in which the Group operates. The Group will accelerate studies to assess whether there would be a net environmental benefit from leavin subsea pipelines at Montara and Stag in situ. The Group will continually update it’s knowledge and understanding of decommissioning practices to ensure that decommissioning cost estimates can be reduced and risks eliminated.
The liability is paid down over the next 15-30 years so in that context it’s way down the road, most of us won’t be here when the liabilities are due
Meanwhile the cash will come rolling in
BP Shell etc have Multi Multi Billions of liabilities
GLA LTH that’s what happens in the oil and gas industry
Brent Increase's yet again!!! , I wasn't expecting such a strong re-bound these past few weeks, but none the less very welcome,
i am not expecting an update on AKATARA this week, as i mentioned to the Directors last week the most important focus, should be the integrity and safety of bringing the gas online, rather than push for a sprint to the end.
i would be quite happy for the gas production to start in early July , meanwhile the recent increase in Brent will bring in decent profits even at Montara and Stag, where the premiums will average over $90 for the low Sulphur oil.

Nice to see Brent oil price slowly rising these past few days, now just over $83, with JSE production soon to push over 20,000Bpde , the cash inflows for 2024 will only grow stronger, and as stated $35 Million of revenue expected to be received this month, the next 6 months look promising, are we about to turn the corner to the upside???

Many thanks Roxi-great summary
It was a great day out at the AGM yesterday, arrived about 8.50am bumped into Sir Paul at the entrance who was chatting with Adel the new Chairman, had about 5-minute conversation with them both, not a lot of people in attendance, i think there was at least 2 other private shareholders sitting up at the front,
The meeting opened up with the usual voting routine the Majority of the votes having been electronically communicated,
All resolutions were passed with Majority of Support in Favour, with tiny number of votes against i think it was about 100,000, or so (Probably a disillusioned Charlie)
Anyhow, Paul and Adel told me everything was on plan for gas at Akatara in the coming days and weeks, all the operations teams were working on site with the Contractors to hand over the Plant to our guys , the technicians from SKK MIGAS would be staying on site until our guys were familiar with all the operations and had gained complete confidence in the safe and efficient running of the plant,
he explained even at these last few days it was important that all parts of the plant are fully tested and safe, it is a bit like starting up a gas/petrol refinery plant,
in the early part of the production phase AKATARA would be throwing off a lot of liquids/Condensate etc, these would be sold separately to the gas, and at Aus based dollar prices, bringing in increased revenues.
after the meeting i spoke again with Paul briefly were i discussed CWLH, Pen Mal and Montara-Stag etc, i also mentioned the low SP that the market currently valued JSE at, he mentioned they were in conversation to bring in at least another couple of Institutional investors in the coming months,
he also said that they had the backing of a couple of large banks who would have supported the equity raise required with the failed takeover of Woodsides fields, without shareholders being diluted, which was great news, he is determined to get JSE back to where it should be in its valuation, saying the CWLH was worth much more!!! on its own than the current SP , and AKATARA was worth more than CWLH , i was asked to stay and chat, but having arranged to meet my partner for lunch, i was unable to stay much longer,
I left feeling much more positive about my investment in JSE .
Just got to be patient, the re-rate will come soon, and fast, another corporate update is being planned in the future.!!!

And at the end of the FT article, the IEA stated....

The IEA cautioned its forecast for shrinking oil demand could be derailed by “relatively minor changes” in events. For example, a 0.3 per cent annual increase in the world’s GDP growth, a $5 annual drop in real oil prices, or a 15 per cent slowdown in the rollout of EVs would each be enough to swing oil consumption back to growth by the end of the decade
FRom the FT
The amount of oil being pumped out of the ground by companies in the Middle East and US means the world is facing a "staggering" surplus by 2030, according to the Financial Times. Demand for oil is expected to peak in 2030, but experts tell the paper that the sheer volume being produced means efforts to keep oil prices high by many energy-producing nations are likely to fail.

Sorry not sure what I was referring to
what does that mean in simple english please
Good update oil back above $82 the higher it can get towards $90 the better for reducing debt, major capex out of the way with higher productivity only weeks away, Mr market must be preoccupied elsewhere to see nothing of value in this update.
Decent update
Year-to-date (end-May) 2024 production has averaged c.17,200 boe/d, a c.50% increase year-on-year,
Nice Update , rapidly reducing debt , if all goes well with Akatara coming on stream next month , they could well be in a Cash positive position by end of year
The stabilization of oil prices averaging above $80 over recent months has obviously helped
GLA LTH should do well from this low price going forward

Charlie, you not coming???? ive got the Peace pipe ready so you and Paul can go Blow smoke up each others AS..Ses ,
Got my Marmalade sandwiches, if you would like to one, your most welcome, i know its been tough for you these past few years, having bought in above 70p levels ,
We will be back there soon enough, hang on in there!!!!!
Roxi, if you add up all your share price rise predictions, the shares would be over a tenner by now. Don't forget your jam sandwiches for tomorrow.
With the higher gas flow rates hopefully they
Will be able to monetize that soon
I recollect a mention of discussion with other interested parties at a 20% premium to the contracted price
Yes tomorrow morning for the AGM,
and tomorrow marks a full week since the last update, so gas flows into the plant will be very close, with Gas sales at end of Month, imo early rise tomorrow,
Tomorrow is the agm...
Used up all my ISA contribution for this year, 59769 shares into the pot, now over 500K
will leave there for long term growth in 2025/26
have a great day everyone, if you believe in a product stay the course, imo

Just about one week gone since the update advising that gas will be entered into akatara - timeframe was "approximately two weeks" - as they said "approximately" , it could be sooner - ever the optimist!
Heading back up , now over $82, great news for oil and gas Companies,
Looking forward to AGM tomorrow,
JSE great price for another Top Up, will take a look today to add a few more, if it stays around 31p

Moved up a TAD today now over $80
great news for oil Companies
Agreed Roxi
Has recovered slightly over the past week now near the $80 price that Opec want to maintain over the course of the year, with JSE getting premiums to that financially we should do better than the forecasted mid-range given by the Company of $75 , , with the gas coming on stream in a matter of days, the run up to the results should be very good, imo

Clearly the kiwis have decided that jacinda ardens demented plan to get rid of oil and gas, without a realistic replacement to ensure continuity of supply has been kicked into the bin. I see she shuffled off earlier, before this mess hit the fan.
Interesting news New Zealand has reversed it's decision to ban oil and gas exploration as it sees risks of blackouts in the future what a pity this didn't happen a couple of years ago when we trying to get the Maari acquisition over the line, will JSE go looking again? or once bitten twice shy.
https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU2406/S00123/energy-resources-aotearoa-welcomes-oil-and-gas-exploration.htm
Fellow JSE investors, we are all in a far much better place now, our Assets are finally coming to fruition,
the Naysayers will continue with their usual Bile , but pay no intention JSE is going to polish into a fine diamond in the oil and gas sector,
Buy and Buy while under 50p , imo DYOR should PROVE!!!!!! to be a great choice in the months and years ahead, not financial advice, but being an investor for over 40 years , ive learnt a thing or two
Not sure that was a better use of your time bistable.
I've also warned that serial rampers do the most harm. Having said that I just think Roxi nails his colours to the mast and wholeheartedly supports his choice. Could do with him in the England camp.
you are clearly more than that-I have been on chat rooks for more than 20 yrs and you are the same as all the other rampers I have engaged with
you are dangerous as you have only one agenda and people think you know what you are talking about and clearly you do believe in that but are just dangerous in just stating the obvious and promoting a single minded agenda with no balance-you think real investors are stupid cannot read a RNS or the latest oil price and its implications-you patronise real investors and insult those who aren't--must go and watch England v Iceland now a more useful use of my time
Nice tick up on low volume, hopefully, most of sellers got out yesterday
I've tipped off security at next week's AGM about Roxi. I'll be surprised if he gets in.
I am a strong supporter of JSE, and other Companies i have within the P.F.
If you believe in something it necessary follows that you stay focused,
just giving the heads up to those that may wish to see a major tick up in Sp in 2025
