Right enough of all this madness. Moderna CEO has a completely hidden agenda!
https://www.cityam.com/covid-death-rate-not-rising-swap-travel-restrictions-and-mass-hysteria-for-cautious-optimism-as-omicron-mutation-is-super-mild-variant-who-and-coronavirus-experts-say/
Moderna isn’t going for a simple single extra dose. He wants a locked in revenue stream now until eternity, getting governments to pay for something our own immune systems were evolved to do for us.
Pfizer saying it should work didn’t make he big headlines:
On Monday, Scott Gottlieb, a Pfizer director, told CNBC: “There’s a reasonable degree of confidence in vaccine circles that [with] at least three doses?.?.?.?the patient is going to have fairly good protection against this variant.”
Masks are simply nothing other than a social behavioural control step to greater and greater freedoms being removed
Yes they have an effect. But face facts. If decrepit old people weren’t allowed to mix freely in public, it wouldn’t be an issue, would it? Home delivery services should be prioritised to anyone of pensionable age. We should have been getting them use to this form of delivery over summer. Just so when something like this happens, They can be contrained to quarters and stop screwing life up for the rest of us, with their inept immune systems and chronic conditions which turn a minor Chinese virus into a life/death/NHS capacity sapping event
Yup, market happy with Easy J results, no shockers in there. Also kick back against hysterical response to variant grows. From the violent protests of late, now vocal protests for normally compliant back benchers, mass media editors that just can not ignore the extent of doubts being raised --- I think we are on the verge of the age of the lockdown being finished. Still very worrying the response globally trying to chase the spread of virus which is just nuts, and very weak governance locally where Boris feels he needs to be see to be doing something and so we have a stealth quarantine and those bloody stupid masks being forced on us again. I won't bother if I go into a shop and see what happens. There are plenty of alternative shops around. I might test the rule in other ways. It requires a 'face covering'. OK, how about my hand? Large post-it note? A loose thread scarf?
How is the moderna CEO allowed to go out and make a statement, without any formal evidence base? His comment is pretty much “my mate in the lab reckons this?”
Outright market manipulation. That it was delayed between Asian close and western open indicates there is more of this than meets the eye.
Again, said this before, people need to look at case data globally. Some of the biggest transit hubs (Dubai being a great example) have excellent vaccination rates. CSes are still falling day on day there. This variant has obviously been out now for a few weeks, possibly a fortnight. If it’s as transmissible as first thought, why are we not seeing case rate numbers tick up?
Radio 4 still giving platform to people pushing back hard on the direct medical reports from SA. It is clear the scientific community expected to old court at the center of attention again for a few weeks but have been sidelined by the info coming from SA. Posturing, vanity, office politics....
Wobbles,
The market moving moderna CEO comments came after Asian market close I believe..
Easy J within expectations, nothing spectacular. If there is a readover to IAG it is that nothing special is going on and things are bumping along more or less as expected.
Vocal opposition to the masks is finally breaking surface in news broadcasts. Expecting more questioning of whether they are effective at doing anything during debate in house. So far the main issue of passing on concentrated contamination is not being broadcast. But it has taken a very long time for the subject of masks to be discussed at all. The mask lobby have their comfort blanket back for the moment so I expect intense counter lobbying to keep masks imposed on people.
Asian Airlines all up?
South Africa says it is seeing 'very low hospitalisation' from omicron
India’s health authorities have reportedly spoken to their South African counterparts about the situation with the outbreak of the omicron variant there, according to media reports.
South African health officials said that while they had found the new variant to be “highly transmissible”, it is also resulting in “very low [rates of] hospitalisation”, reported the Indian Express citing sources on the Indian side.
In their communication to the Indian Council of Medical Research and National Centre for Disease Control, the South African authorities reportedly said that omicron has resulted in no deaths so far and it only manifests itself in “the form of mild disease with extreme fatigue and throat irritation being the predominant symptoms”.
Patients are not experiencing symptoms like loss of sense of smell and taste or drop in oxygen levels, which was very widely observed in India and elsewhere as the delta variant spread across the world.
EZJ not looking well.
Big Blue you said yesterday Jet2 was the worst in the sector.
TBH, it's actually the better of the bunch of the 2 ugly sisters, ezj & iag.
Nonetheless, this sector is goosed for a long time, which is a shame.
Moderna CEO is more responsible for his shareholders than anyone else’s.
They don’t want this to be a one year payday. They want this now, forever more.
It seems that no matter what is the severity, they still want to suppress case rate, despite this being the way out of this torrid situation.
Moderna has a vaccine to sell. Perhaps they'll get an even healthier balance sheet if they can get a premium for a modified version of their current product.
Japan now announced their first case
Looks like yesterday was a dead car bounce. Futures and Asia markets as well as oil taking a hit
