...Women, can't live them, can't kill them !
I hope they do the business for you bud, having upsetting emotional stuff again, not persuing the nurse, cant get over the ex that seems to have got over me! women eh!!! will just hold what i,ve got for the time being till i can get my head straight, catch up soon bud
Good thinking. I must confess that I've not bothered too much with the liquidity issues before, but as you say, selling 1million shares in 100k tranches is a costly excercise. NVTA is probably short / mid term. Once the production starts, probably March, and increases during the year, this will be reflected in the SP. Certainly don't sell just yet, even if the SP drops a bit (which I doubt). This is a good prospect in a pretty unique sector. Very similar to MONI I would guess. Interesting that your broker could sell but not buy, that suggests a lack of sellers, which is always good. I'll be looking to get in there ASAP. Likewise with KYS. The prospects there are immense. The conservative estimate is around 2million Oz, but this could be as much as 4. The Gold is fairly easy to mine, being both open cast with much richer seams deeper down. The BFS is due to be completed in February (subject to weather) and once this is published I can see the SP taking off. Again, I will be in ASAP. I am that confident, I will be redoing my SIPP to take account of the prospects. Just need FRES to hit 850p next week (hopefully more) and I can start buying again. Have a good weekend.
Both i think, but glad i,m not holding them over the weekend is all i can say! Well i had at look at FRES and they,re over 7 quid,co thats a tad better than it was. Okay, strategy clear for you, have sufficient funds at the ready for consolidated bets. MONI,15ish if you get the chance i reckon, the others down to you as i just hold the things. I,m not selling any of mine unless they go up enough to make it worthwhile and i,m holding hawks pending reduction if/when they get back to sensible levels, moni and mwana just holding and keeping. The liquidity of cosalt is a concern, mm quote-driven,cant remember the numbers but thats why i,ve only got 25k of them. Noventa the other day,my broker could sell 100k but only buy 1k without going on the phones so i,ve limited them to 20k,that kind of switchover could easily go the wrong way,but things like vog, mwa, lonr etc 50k-100k no worries either way as they are order board stocks apparently. I got caught on some micro once trying to offload a million shares and could only get out in 100k blocks so am wary of that so always ask my broker when placing my wallet into the abyss!!!
BARCLAYS !! Your'e either brave or mad - you decide. Ha Ha ! AKT, NVTA and KYS are very much in the frame, along with MONI now. The intention is to play the miners and build up some more funds, then look at the targets and get in at the right price. The danger is of course that it may be too late, but that's life. Can't have everything. It worked earlier in the year with ENRC and KAZ, which gave me sufficient funds to make a killing on PYM, remember? Happy Days... The beauty of the miners is that they are pretty fluid and the spreads are usually non existent, so getting out is not a problem. (Have you tried selling CSLT recently - MM's will only buy 30,000 max.) Which means that funds are readily available for good prospects. Wish I'd had spare cash today, what a buying spree I could have had. Oh well.
That is the most unspread portfolio ever, talk about consolidated bets! I,m with you on cosalt and cant lose them unless they do a 20p+ takeover,or am i dreaming? In a moment of madness earlier bought 10k of barclays and then realised just how much money i,d gambled but got out with a 4p net margin, phew! Topped up/averaged down on PMK this morning a few and might need to do the same on VOG if they go down anymore!!! Are you not looking at AKT and NVTA at these levels? HAWK,not daring to look. Good luck with FRES!
CSLT.. Prelims out on 2nd Feb, so hopefully, we will see a return on our patience. MONI...Given you a good return, but as you say, a good bet for the future, particularly in 3rd World. I should have got in when you first mentioned them really, but was put off because it was a bit 'Techy'. However I'll be in with you soon. Miners.. Sod's law. I sold off all my losers, ploughed it all into FRES at 749p, which was the 3 month lower support level, and was happy to watch it rise again to 760 or so. Until the US news regarding higher unemployment and Barak's Bank Bashing hit the markets and then they dropped to 700p. They are a real bargain at this price and will be back to 850p next week (and more!) but I am totally committed now. FRES & CSLT and that's it. To be honest, I thought about selling CSLT to buy more FRES and rang Denise Robinson for an update. Decided to hold as each tick up is now 3k to me.
Hi bud, cosalt looking rather ill today, longterm or takeover,or am i dreaming. Okay, monitise are in bed with visa and maybe the banks,i think its a bit like getting a cashback in the supermarket in the sense that theres a small commision to be earned, you take your mobile to a shop send a text and the "company" texts the retailer who hands over the dosh, presumably everyone gets some tiny fee for the priviledge. Some are thinking they,ve stumbled onto the next vodaphone at pennies, i,m not that ambitious but i reckon 50p maybe in a year. They,ve signed up plenty of subscribers and theres more mobile phones than bank account holders, esp in the third world,i have a link in my e-mail so will try and retrieve it and put it here, they,ve never yet made a profit but i reckon they will now, have steadily risen from 4p and had a big spike when visa came on board,a dip to 12ish a couple of months ago and now 19p and they stand out in my portfolio as apart from a handful of utilities etc, they,re the only ones in profit! http://www.monilink.co.uk/register/ good luck with the miners bud
Had a look at MONI again today. Seems an interesting concept and looks all set for a good uptake in the future, but how does it make money? Is it paid a commission by the banks? or is it sold outright as a system. Certainly seems to be doing OK for you anyway. Sold all my loss makers this morning and put it all into FRES. They are down to 750p on the news from China, but the last production report was excellent and the results are due out in Feb, so, barring a major crash, I can only see a good upside. I was tempted to offload CSLT as well, but decided I may as well hang on for the results now. I am dissapointed with the performance though and have e-mailed the company to tell them so. Not had a reply yet.
Cheers for your thoughts there bud,on all levels ha ha! I can see what you meanabout the cut and run approach,my penultimate aim is together back to the value of where I was a couple of years ago plus everything I've thrown in since then, the ultimate aim is clearly to build on that with a healthy mix of maybe maybes and solid companies with a good divi and growth behind them. The only one I've never traded up,down or sideways is surprisingly Scottish and southern,a boring utility with a huge divi, wouldn't top up at these levels but it's the only one, centrica,Tate, elementis, bae so many I've drifted around but that has survived profit taking etc. Sentiment on shares is so fickle though,a penny up and they can be back to where they were perceived when you first bought the things I.e. full of 'hope factor' again? Then there's the patience issue,I knocked out the angels and watch them go up with subjective irritation and a passing thought of happiness for you and always i think whohad the patience to sit on a profit and watch it grow! Anyway, now I'm the one going on a bit, catch up soon mate, james
Sentiment is not a good thing in the markets. I suffer the same thing with CSLT as you do with HAWK. To be honest James, think about how much you could have made with the money tied up and ask yourself, would you buy those shares today, knowing the history? I am clearing the decks of all my 'losers' at the moment and although I will end up with less than I paid, I will (hopefully) make it up over the coming months. I have learned a lot recently and now have a different approach. Sell the losers and ride the winners. I'm studying the art of reading charts properly and hope to improve my buying / selling skills, so that I buy at the right time and know when to sell. I must admit that CSLT is a prime example of how to get it wrong. Looking back, the signs were there, but all I could see was a 'good' company that was on hard times due to past mistakes. I assumed that the SP would improve without really understanding why it should. Had I looked a bit deeper, and studied the charts, I would have seen that further falls were coming. HAWK is a similar share. Why has it stayed at the same level for so long? What is going to make it rise? and when? Is the money going to stay tied up for weeks, months, years? I have certainly made mistakes but have also got it right now and then, by doing the work and understanding the companies. My biggest clangers have been tips from friends or buying on a whim. Not going to do that anymore. Oh well, Let's see what tomorrow brings. Got an eye on Spice and Noventa are looking good. Glaxo should do well this year with the increase in value of the $. Almost 40% of their earnings come from the States. 'Cor, don't I go on! Better get off now, Wife's just pulled up. Speak soon. Good luck on the medical front ! Nudge, Nudge.
It certainly was a trying one on most of mine but made up for on mwana and the chariots. Made some subtle reductions there to pay for some of my recent share buying activities including vog and an akt top up still top heavy on mwana. My biggest concern is the daily drop on the hawks, I'm really getting fed up with them but I'm in so deep that I'd have to sell just about everything to get a decent average down on them so I'm feeling as trapped by them as I am in my business! The patience game is not a good one to play. I'm happy with most of the blues team except I need to top up on Tate if they get any closer to having a three in front. I tripled up on noventa so have 20k of them and got some more of the various others I've been holding, can't make my mind up about ifl, they touch profit then they retreat, frustrating trying to work out which to hold which to dump, which to average down/up on. Can't remember my last average up!!! The russians are a good play if you're willing to take the risk on day movements,I still think glaxo is worth playing that strategy with but what do I know!! Now have 45 various holdings including delisters and stuff I've had for years like psion which is about 10% of what I originally paid for them and didn't average down. I believe lots of them have the potential to go up if I've got the patience to hang on but amongst the mixed bag I hold including the ones you have or know about, my belief in moni is right up there as I've been sitting on a profit for weeks and not sold them, unusual for my m.o.you must agree? Anyway mate good luck with the Russians and keep an eye on spice, if they go sub 50i think I'm going in......james
Well... what a day ! Another of your 'Tin Hat' days for me, although I see MWA and CHAR did well, so at least you saw some gains. CSLT didn't do anything again... I'm wondering if the results are going to be as good as we hope. Let's hope tomorrow is better. I'm going back to the Russians for a while to make up some of my recent losses. Although the news from China isn't all that good, so I may wait a day or so. Definite signs of a downturn in the markets, let's hope it's only a pause for breath.
Well no trading for me today, nice to see noventa doing something positive. Cant remember if i mentioned it but have dipped into ultrasis again end of last week, yet another maybe, maybe but plenty of liquidity trading up to 200k of them and the spread was negligable when i bought them, they are "pharma-esque" but my research has its limits, just wonder if you,ve come across them? Glad to see questor hot-tipping balfours again this weekend, solid investment that one and carillion got a good mention too,i think you,ve got them in your "untouchables". Asked the nurse for an opinion on those shares but kind of got lost in the moment(i,m relieved to report),but will report back anything she does dredge up on them, hope you had a good weekend and have got some "real" work in now mate, james
Just got back to the office and with the exception of moni, looking like a veritable sea of red out there today, spice is getting closer to 50 on the offer but going to sit tight for a bit i reckon, with 40ish holdings in all sorts of stuff, surely they cant all be going down, havent checked the boring ones yet mind you!
Panic over. RGT have placed 8.3m shares @ 1.5p, hence the drop. The cash is to fund further development of it's Alzeimers drug, Colostinin. Wouldn't bother buying in just yet, but still worth watching.
SPI down again today, can't see much in the way of an increase for a while, but worth watching. Another of my Small Pharma's is on the radar today. RGT has dropped 30% this morning and I can't find any reason, still looking and will let you know of anything. Certainly not a buy just yet, but something is happening. Have a look at the Kryso wabsite if you get chance. The resource is estimated at more than 2 million ounces and is cheap ($300) to extract.
Oh well, thats the way it goes mate, dont get the old thumper out of the cellar yet though! Went for a top up on noventa and 5k of kyrso res, according to my broker, they,ll either be worth 10x or nothing in time so deal done, only a few hundred but you never know. Still watching spice but that would be a larger punt and not enough funds till one of mine(and )bigger positions go up a bit, whereupon i,d probably want to top up some boring yielders i think!!
One of your 'Tin Hat' days today I think. I'm going out and I may be some time.
Thats what happens when shares get mentioned in the sun!! cant do any more oilies since hawk has rather inconsiderately refused to get off the nest
I still have them but not a lot,let me know if and when you go in heavily
.. and the 'Falklands Four' are all flying at the moment. My favourite, RKH is up almost 50% since I first mentioned them in December. Still a lot of room for profit though. Now why didn't I listen to myself !
... forgot to mention Noventa (NVTA). Are you still in there? They have had a few good news items recently and are on target to start producing Tantalum in March and then increase production and start to mine the ore later in the year. Certainly one I will be buying ASAP.
I'm awaiting funds to get into KYS. Truth is I'm a bit stretched with my other recent buys and am looking to sell something, but the ones I want to sell are refusing to rise to a reasonable sale price. I must get over this ' don't sell at a loss' thing. I may just sell everything and start again, but then in three months I'd be back in the same position. My best , most profitable period, was when I sold everything and only traded the 'Russians' on a High / Low basis. I actually made a good profit on every deal. Why did I let myself get distracted? I blame CSLT. For some reason I formed a 'bond' with them and now have an emotional tie which is the wrong thing. Maybe I should get rid of them as well. And the likes of DOO and HDY which I'm down on and should really get out of, but the 'recovery' potential is always there (sound familiar?) and, like you, I know if I do sell, they will start to rise seconds later. What a world, What a world.
Okay,on the watchlist,is this one you,re in already or contemplating? SPI its just the yield thats disappointing but i,m keeping an eye on it too. Just looked at the volumes of hawk and mwa and little or no SP movement either way,i guess somethings going to happen........... Toyed with HMV but fundamentally, who buys cd,s etc these days,i dont but there again i,m not indicative of the buying public, despite now having an i-phone!!!!
