That looks like a write off against future profits then, sorry to hear that mate, makes one very cynical about all the clients when that happens but have to try and stay focused and positive. Damp, cold, dreary but safe. Looking forward to lighter evenings so i can take the dog along the beach after work and launch into gardening again. Just bought 20k of VML(blame sage) and 20k of those dawson holdings, pure speculative punts as ever,no researched opinions as usual!! Cosalt seems to have perked up a bit but decided against having a real go at them so just going to sit on mine.
The bad debt, sadly is just that I fear. I managed to track down one of the former employees, who was 'quite scathing' in his comments regarding the closure and the reasons for it. Seems one of the owners was spending all the profits and the other one had sold him his interest back in September and was only working there as an estimator. Needless to say when the cash ran out, so did the owner. We do moan about Britain, but it is still one of the safest places to live in the world. Shame the weather's so bad. I hate this cold, damp, miserable time of year. Roll on April.
I,m glad they,ve come good for you mate. Bottom drawer waiting shares, yep got a few of them, hope i have the tenacity to hang onto them and realise the full value as i have with moni and the yielders, generally. Cant make up my mind if SA as a country will continue its decline in law and order etc or be the exception from post-colonial/white rule, hope it does but the idea of carrying a gun outside of the skeet range and sleeping with a glock by the side of the bed as a necessity doesnt really appeal, besides its been a long time since i lived in south london,ha,ha! No news on that bad debt i take it?
Managed to get more FRES at 670p last week, so in profit there and looking good for further gains with the increase in metal prices and the fall of the $. The bad news from South Africa regarding the power price rises, (35% a year for 3 years) will impact the markets and we may see SA producers having to provide there own CHP plants, or even closing, which will in turn cause rises for other Co's. PYM is a solid hold and will come good so don't worry about that one. Put it in the bottom drawer with Cosalt and it will reward you eventually. (But keep an eye on it, just in case!)
Just been looking at cosalt,a recovery share but no takeover in the mid-20s,just going to sit on mine, only got 25k so not overly bothered as it doesnt look like they,re going bust(do they???), PYM same quantity now, want a foothold just in case, doesnt look out of place with my other paper losses anyway! Zimbabwe the basket case that was the bread basket under colonial and udi rule, nothing lasts forever, even ole rob,so will take the chance and hold, sold my ifl and made a bit, bought some more forget about tate and lyle, decent divi etc, didnt buy any uk coal earlier when i could have got in sub-60,perhaps for the best, glad to see the miners racing today, hope you did allright on the silver ones
Well, CSLT prelims were a bit of a non-event. Good news overall and a strong future ahead, but did nothing for the SP. Long termer now for sure. I see 'Ole Robs' is kicking off again. Rio Tinto are a bit worried that they may get nationalised, so maybe expect a drop at MWA. He really is off his head that one! PYM - Interesting. I can see no reason for the recent SP hike and I can't see it holding at these levels. There is no news on the horizon, other than a general statement due in the near future, which will not be anything we don't already know, so I'm thinking it might have been an attempt at a 'Pump & Dump' which never really took off. Always the chance of somebody buying up the company in small parcels I suppose and a T/O can not be ruled out.
Morning bud, hope you had a good weekend. Spoke to the nurse on many topics including the PYM thing, her opinion was positive on the strength of the trials,a good test percentage but clearly a one trick pony, i,ve topped up!!!
Well, remember what happened last time mate!!!
I noticed PYM buys were pretty big today, hence the rise. Can't see a reason so there may be an announcement in the offing. We'll see what Monday brings, but I'll try and have some funds on standby, just in case.
Looks like PYM is on the move......
Well there go the SPI, 50.575, better than holding an open or waiting for a divi!
Not looking good there bud, worst case you can write off against future profits i guess, just like shares really,i took a lot of panic sell hits the last few years to write off against my future HAWK profits when they go over a quid,oh i wish,be nice if the bast..s went back up to 40! Got shot of my meagre holding in TIG earlier and topped up/averaged down on IFL with the proceeds, they bounce around a fair bit when the market changes direction,a bit like your miners. Once the city boys have finished panicing the market, forced the PI,s to sell and closed all their shorts,it,ll all be on the up as its movement up or down that drives it(i think). SPI yet to go over 50 but watching and waiting. Got my solicitor(pro bono due to work referals) to send a polite reminder to the ex ref the car money in todays post, will be making a sharp exit to northampton in the morning to hide behind the nurse i,ll tell you!!!
Been chasing around. Receivers went in last week, 1 owner gone to Spain, the other one didn't come back from Italy after Christmas. Apparently they owe over £300,000, so I'm at the back of the queue. B*star*s ! Cosalt don't seem to be doing much, hope next week's news is good ! Hope you have better luck on Saturday.
OUCH! No knowledge of home address for the owner, previous employees, any competitors have any info worth chasing up? Sorry to hear that bud,but hey being self-employed is just so easy, not! Okay,so lets make it back on some shares, shall we go and ramp up cosalt or make an "approach" to the company,if only,if only! Good news at my end, spice are 50 quid in profit, shall i take it?!! And i,m seeing the nurse on saturday and my solicitor is sending my ex a "reminder" letter about the 4 grand she owes me for the car, funny we,ve both been stitched for 4 grand!
Ohh...It just gets worse ! Just been chasing up debts today and called in on a Car Body Repairer who owes me 4k. Guess what? Yes..They've gone t*ts up ! Everything locked up, yard and premises cleared, phone disconnected. No forwarding address. I'm stuffed. What a world, What a world.
Huge spread,no doubt liquidity issues too, wont be looking at them either!!!
Just had a phone call from a friend asking about Bodisen :BODI. He'd seen them post a 35% rise this morning and was going to buy on the strength of that alone. How can people be so stupid? BODI are a Chinese fertiliser company who were once promising but are now just about the worst share I've seen. Avoid them if anybody tips them. I checked out the rise though and they are 35% up, but without any trades ! Looks like the MM's are trying to drum up business. Oh...and it's got a 33% spread.
I,ve got a 52 exit in mind on them which should be do-able,know what you mean on the graph but there have been some intra-day blips rather than trends, mind you if it all goes horribly wrong at least theres a 2 and a bit % divi, ithink/hope, oh no not another cosalt!!!!
Cheers for the encouraging words there mate!!! Cosalt, the big enigma as ever, they could do the 20p trick easily,if it was me i,d make a reduction of the holding as the liquidity is crap but hang onto the bulk, dont know about these silver miners,so quick to react to a change in the market,i guess keeping an eye on the dow futures might help,a window of sorts into time?
Had a closer look at SPI and the 6 month chart is a horror. It is set in a solid downtrend in the same way that Cosalt was a year ago. I'd get out at the first opportunity if I was holding them. Hate to sound negative, but I can't see an upside there for a while.
I spotted SPI at 47.25p and thought you may be interested. I would join you, but cash is short at the moment. I sent my cheque to the Queen last week FRES is at 671p now and is looking SO tempting, as is HOC, now down at 278p. I'm very tempted to swop CSLT whilst I'm in profit, (very small profit!), but I feel they will add a couple of pence this week. With my luck at the moment, I'd sell CSLT and they'd double. Be OK for the rest of you though. Good Luck with Gladys Emmanuelle !
Hi bud, yes its been a trying time on both sides of the great divide but time is the greatest healer, mind you i,ve arranged to see the nurse at the weekend so....................i,ll report back. Okay on shares have just bought 10k of SPI on a t-10,fully open but looking early 50,s exit, wanted a safe-ish short term trade rather than buy any more hopeful micro caps just in case i get stuck with them! Also looking at INCH carefully but that would be a longterm hold if i get them sub-25. MONI,HAWK(groan groan),MWA and all that just keeping, noticed cosalt perking up a bit. Holding cash? Whats that???? Tax bill anyday now for both of us i think that,ll use some of it up.
Glad to hear you're still weathering the emotional storm, if not the financial one. Yes indeed, the markets have turned very sharply. My venture back into the miners was a classic case of 'King Midas in Reverse'. As soon as I bought, they dropped to 700p and are now down to 670p. I know the sector is down as a whole on the news from China, but it will pick up again. Cosalt is a bit of a damp squib at the moment. I expected a bit of a pick up this week, but the turndown has put paid to that. Good time to be holding cash I think.
Yes thanks bud,not trading any due to lack of shares in profit although those kopane things seem to be doing something, another investors chron buy tip in perpetual loss! Thought the hawks were going to fly today but the oilies seem to have gone the other way,has someone invented a car that runs on seawater or something!!! The other business,a bit choked up but will come through it,one always does but always feels bad at the time, might have to revert to plan B and go for a rebound on that nurse!!! Is it me or is the market feeling a bit ropey still?
You OK mate? Not like you to be so quiet.
