Got written confirmation of the BAe divi credit today, makes up for the car crash of a portfolio, except glaxo went over 13 quid but they,re not for sale. Havent got to the paper yet but will report back any findings..........james
Okay no worries mate, the weekend ft is my one so i,ll report back any discoveries or tips relevant to that. Awful shares week for me though jarvis ended up a tad, could have got 15p bid if i,d been on it at the open, never mind....my centrica and glaxo are favourites of the day but darent sell any more "proper shares" or i,ll end up with a portfolio of exclusively big hope, big losses and no income! Have a good weekend mate, james
Bad week really. CSLT doing nothing, HDY not moved, and DOO fallen 40% T/O talks stalled I suspect ! Annoyingly, the alternatives I had in mind for my PYM profits are all up between 8% & 22% - and I've got 3 prospects that are so promising that I may well sell the 'Lazy shares' and buy in anyway. But the things are at the moment, they'd probably tank as well ! Great news from the US, Obama has given the green light for more Stem Cell production and research, which should boost some of our small pharma's. I intend to look up the best candidates over the weekend. Could you check for any press coverage, as you know, I don't read newspapers.
Doesnt look like a good day today, except for jarvis! Those innovation group have tumbled on a dilutive 00,yet another one for me to put up or suffer the consequences on,bah humbug! Catch up later mate, hope you,re okay?
Why is it that one job leads to half a dozen others! The last time a got a roof leak investigated i ended up with the full option pack of tradesmen making a mess and demanding cash payments, wish i hadnt bothered! Full sympathies there mate. January tax bill wont be a problem for me this year, best of luck with yours, mind you since i,ve been "doing shares" as opposed to years ago when i just had a few banks,BT,the usual stuff, i,d say i,ve bought into quite a few with strong "hope factors",as you have so dont give up mate, surely something will come good.......................
Still in chaos. Bathroom fitter is due back on Monday, at the same time as the painter. I managed to get a more reasonable price, so I'll let them get on with it. Luckily my office is outside the house, so I can work undisturbed. BOL with Jarvis and well done with the trading, I've missed a few chances with my 'Russians' due to having funds tied up. I'm also watching one of my new 'finds' rise daily on good news and just can't afford to get in. So frustrating. Got a tax bill in January and was hoping I could take some profits to pay it, but looks like I'll have to sell something at a loss. B*gger!
Cheers for all that mate, watching PYM for a sub-10p,holding CHAR,definately watching the big 4 now. Subject to funds etc, i,ll probably go for rockhopper and FKL,both ends of the spectrum as it were! Regarding shares of great promise but sitting on paper losses due to that promise not being reflected in the SP,i seem to have a full house at the moment! Threw caution to the wind and just bought some jarvis as they always seem to bounce off the lows and playing down debt etc seems a reasonably sensible way forward, whether i keep them remains to be seen, you know what i,m like! I actually made a few 100 yesterday with a net 0.8p profit on an RBS daytrade, bought quite a few of them and no liquidity issues there, could have rinsed it if i,d kept them overnight for an extra penny but since i was gambling with money i havent got, went for the safe option. I hope the DOO,s do something for you soon,as i said the other day,i reckon you can spin a coin on most of these things really! BBY and BAE seem to be perking up and my most profitable one remains centrica but will only sell if they get nearer 3 quid or i get caught short on a big open position, need to maintain some discipline. Have you finished all the work at home or are you still in chaos mate?
I wouldn't get in to PYM at the moment. It could indeed be another CSLT, altrhough it has a big upside eventually. Reading the Annual Report, (which is very informative), I can't see any major news until early/mid next year, so I'll be watching and waiting a bit longer. Jarvis are another frustrating share to hold. As with HAWK and CHAR and indeed CSLT, it SHOULD do better, but never quite seems to. I thought they would take off earlier this year with the news of the EON coal hauling contract, but it soon fell back. Don't really know that much about it currently. There is talk of a new line from London to Bristol, so there may be some benefit for them there. The best 'Falklands' punt would actually be FKL, the operating compnay for the Islands. They will win whichever way it pans out. Regarding the oil companies, I would go for a 4 way split. I'm sure thay will all do well, but a 'scatter gun' approach would be safest. Or maybe the best option would be to get the most shares for your money by going for the cheapest, Rockhopper, who, being North of the Islands, have one the easiest areas to operate. There is a very good case here for spending time looking at the different websites and looking at each company's prospects. It is certainly good reading. Just wish I had more spare cash. DOO aren't DOOing me any favours at the moment. Thought it would be a quick 'in / out', but it's turned into a long haul.
Just had a quick look on the newsflow,so highly dilutive 00 and placing, reduced target, but fully-funded now? Then if they sort it out the target goes back up to 60 from the 30 downgrade, thats ambiguous,is it worth a punt do you think or could it be a typical long wait post-00 situation like you know who!!!!!
Okay,so a 10p placing is it? Over-reaction currently do you think? Any thoughts on the ones i mentioned in the other posts here mate, jarvis has caught my eye again....
Well, I did say PYM were due an announecment, but I was surprised to see the content. Luckily I didn't get back in on Tuesday as I thought the SP would drop a bit more. Still, gteat news long term and I'll be looking to get back in sub 10p at some point, probably after the hoo hah has died down.
Okay bud,off home in a bit so catch up in the morning if thats okay. Also i,ve been looking at jarvis as a semi-punt,seen better days due a bounce type of share, but tracking them for an entry point nearer 10p,their results seemed okay considering but would welcome an opinion, they sort of "feel" like another cosalt,i.e. if they survive, good recovery play and at recent lows(just like cosalt, groan, groan!),not sure if they,re your bag,or mine for that matter!!! Have a good evening mate, james
Okay, you,ve convinced me!!!! It sounds like you,re even more convinced of them than i am on my HAWKS! As you know my research on them involved a call to the broker and chatting on here so just wanted to get my strategy right on them, its difficult sometimes when you,re bobbing around in the dark and to be honest with you the only ones i,ve ever researched properly are hawk, moni and mwa and all my other non-yielding ones i refer to as "gamblers", so want to have some confidence if i,m going to keep them and i do respect all the info you,ve put on there but wanted to ask the question in a more blunt way here rather than on the relevant site, and you,ve answered it with gusto!!! Whats your take on the falklands 4 and what do you really think of HAWK please bud?
Asked my broker about the baby pharmas, predictable response really, cash burn, balance sheets grim, very much punts but what does one expect, we,re not talking GSK here! Did a successful daytrade on RBS today, net pfofit on nearly a penny difference(and i said i wasnt going to do that anymore!) and i really need my HAWK or MONI etc to go up so i can skim some profits and get into the falklands 4 early next year. Saw a couple of your posts on there,i gather there are depth issues, and whats a "drilling ship"!!!! Subject to funds etc,if you went in there would you be spreading across the 4 and going for an investment or just a punt on 1 or 2 of them. Despite the general malaise,i still believe HAWK is a 60/80 topslice, just dont know when! Now these chariots, are we talking investment or punt to 30-ish,just so i know but wont hold you to it or threaten to sell you a riverbank residence(did you see that clip noon?)
at my risk so dont ever feel responsible if they go the wrong way mate whenever i follow you in. Research is always essential but when it comes down to it with the speckie ones, one might as well spin a coin! Anyway off now, boys night out, beer and all that beckons, catch up soon bud, james
Cheers for the updates there. As works got busier and all that, i,m trying a new approach, not trading! All my gamblers i.e. non yielders are averaging down "opportunities" except funnily enough sharedreamz,s chariot which went up a bit today. Last weeks punt on GKP,earned me a couple of hundred quid and if i,d kept them i,d now be sitting on nearly 2 grand,so therefore i deduce i,m not very good at it and need to hold and wait rather than try and wheel and deal. My IFL and CHAR are "open", will sell the formers with a 4 in front and keep the CHAR as i quite like them. HAWK is the big gamble like MONI,MWA,PMK,CSLT,now all in varying stages of loss. I asked my broker about ANGM and he put me off with the financial set up,profit/loss etc so i havent, but if there were a few profits elsewhere to skim off, i,d have a few to tuck away,my broker also told me GKP were highly speculative so i guess they went as i needed a confidence boosting, actually made a profit on something moment and that was it,no blame,no regrets(mind you watching them go up nearly 20p was somewhat irritating i guess!). The blues are okay to just keep as the yield is better than cash in the bank i believe and i,m convinced BBY is going to be £3 if i wait long enough. Cosalt, what do we do? Average down or just wait, you,re heavier into them than me i think? Will add FIP to the watch list. Thanks for getting back to me and i do take a lot of notice of your advice and thoughts and at my
NVTA are still looking good as are KYS and PAD, all of which I was going to buy but didn't. Instead went for the likes of BAO and DOO, both going down, but will rise eventually. So in future only buy the ones I tip but don't actually buy. That way you'll be a rich man ! IFL ... sorry but I think they are another HAWK or CHAR. I held them for ages and they did nothing. For some reason certain shares just don't perform with ttheir peers. IFL hardly moves whilst FXP flys. Funny time for miners. ENRC is now in a definite downward trend. The highs are falling day by day, as are the lows. Dubai has caused more nervousness in the markets and I fear that with Christmas almost upon us, PI's will not be buying so FTSE may well be in retreat soon. Small Caps seem to be suffering in general at the moment and it's difficult to know what to do for the best. If I wasn't so far down, I'd be tempted to sell everything and wait until January, but there should be some opportunities in the next few weeks. PYM - due an update. ANGM - due to pour Gold this month. The Falklands Four are due for take off in Feb (if not before) and MPM could go at any time. I've also added FIP to my watch list. Interesting one. Must go, speak later.
Nothing spare as such but can always have a shuffle around so let me know if its time to buy. Have still got those NVTA or whatever they are and a few minor holdings which i,ll probably keep, used some new funds for the chariot purchase but have had an eye on them for a while,if they find oil and all that type of share i think,or better still before the end of my t-10,unlikely i fear! Picked up IFL recently at 37 but will probably sell at 42,if/when as that seems to be the range,i could of course be wrong, its happened before!!!! The Dubai thing seems a bit of an overkill beyond the banks do you think?
Just posted on CSLT. Pharma's are still being watched closely. PYM are due another announcement in early December but I'm not sure if it will be anything new or just more confirmation of what we know already. The company was revalued following the rise in October, but I'm sure a tie up with a 'Big Brother' would have a big effect. It will happen I'm sure, as it will with MPM. Just a matter of watching and having funds ready to move quickly. If I had spare cash at the moment PYM would be favourite.
Oi, why havent you got those chariots into profit yet, come on,come on....
Thanks for reminding me on that, will look forward to my brokers crediting my account on them, reckon i,ve got a BBY one soon too, makes up for a 2 1/2 grand paper loss on those ones, humbug! My HAWK have actually gone up but need 41 to break even, and i need to wind up sharedreamz about chariot going down, was thinking of posting him a "when are you going to get these up to...p-esque" post as that guy did you on cosalt recently,or might just redirect him here to explain himself,ha,ha! Cosalt turning a corner maybe, better still if they got bought out! I take it you havent gone for the pharma yet?
Nice little present from BAe this morning. Should pay for the Christmas cheer ! Good news from CSLT as well. Things are looking up.
Had a look at the shares earlier but have staff etc problems to deal with today so probably not doing anything, especially after seeing GKP sail over a quid when i sold mine at 92p,typical eh but even so it was one i,d worry about so got enough of those already! 500 quid a room would have me reaching for the paintbrush myself! ta for the background on those pharmas, like you say a lot of hassle getting hold of them and then the getting rid of them too, just like employing people, what is it they say,if in doubt, take out the variables.......catch up later mate
Cor.. I wish I was that boring, I'd settle for a couple of hundred quid profit right now! Unilife are an Australian quoted stock, not available here, so it would probably be a hassle to get hold of some, but they are looking to transfer the stock to NASDAQ and at the same time restructure the business. They will consolidate the stock at 1 new (US) share for 12 old (Aus) shares. All seems a bit complicated, but it would be a much larger market and they may well benefit under US health policy. Floorings all done, bathroom on hold, but usable, for a week or so. Deciding whether to employ a decorator to repaint, or do it myself. I hate decorating, but at £500 a room, plus materials, it has to be considered. Don't forget that ANGM are due to start pouring Gold within a week or so. Might be a hike in SP, but as there has been another 10,000,000 shares issued (to pay the contractors) it may not be as big an increase as hoped.
Okay you can now officially call me the boring investor, made a couple of hundred on the GKP,and put that plus the UU money into sainsburys, balfours and averaged down on speedys, well maybe not that boring, just safe(i hope)
