OUCH! 45k - that's serious. It must come good soon, but the chart looks as bad as CSLT. Like you say, dead money (for now), but they do seem to get good write ups all the time. NVTA may retrace, but it's not really started yet. It may be mid / long term to reach full potential, but this will be a biggy. I would also expect nice hikes along the way. I'm in soon as I can. Same scenario at SYNC. They will grow slowly with nice hikes on contract news. The developing countries are a big market and SYNC are right in there. The fact that the biggest SH is an Arab Prince who owns a telephone company does help a bit as well. Still chance to get in on the 'F4' if you so desire (sorry!) but I'm surprised at all the big selling. The FT reckons good news will be out this week, but that doesn't seem long enough to me. Conspiracy therorists would say that they suspect a duster and are trying to offload before the news gets out and the SP tanks. I was up in Manchester last week and was introduced to Holt's Maple Moon. Wow, what a drink. I usually drink Holt's Bitter when I'm 'up North' but Maple Moon is a really smooth, refreshing pint. It is available in bottles at Sainsbury's but I was lucky enough to find it on draught, with a proper head that lasted all the way down. Bliss.
Dont worry mate,at least you didnt put c.45 grand into "bad hawk" and ignore the advice of your sharemate to put it in the falklands 4!!! I have no option than to shoulder that ballsup,no way am i putting any more money into them or selling at a loss either!!! Talk about dead money. Mind you i,m a bit stuck on SPI at the moment too, chasing losses and averaging down isnt always such a good plan! Might have to open an old thumper when i get home,or shall i give the lawns their first trim of the new year, such choices!!! Might have a look at SYNC,curious to see if NVTA retrace or rocket in the morning,i have managed to get the shareprice live prices on my i-phone(thanks to my secretary) so nowhere is safe from a little look in,not such a good thing as i found out wrongly trying to plumb the uk coal bottom, tomorrows another day mate, chin up!!!
Remember I told you about SEE a month or so ago, well they've just signed the first big contracts and are on the up. I see NVTA is flying as well, I really should listen to myself at times. The money I was going to use on them I put into SYNC, who are still waiting for take off. What a world, what a world!
Well, couldnt stay out of NVTA for too long,re-read your "dont be tempted by a short gain" post,i was,i did but now i,m back in them! Hope things are going okay your end. Topped up on TNZ today and financed it from dumping my BT boring ones. Did a day trade on nostra terra this week but nothing else, the patience thing is my downfall, except on the good yielders, need to learn from that i guess.
Welcome back mate, was beginning to worry you,d given up posting altogether! Rightly or wrongly took the profit on noventa and ifl today as was scratching around for a big puchase of UKC,did a spin on them at the start of the week and came back for more today, cash rich, coal in the ground, discount to nav, maybe maybe mergers, close to the year lows, makes a change for me to invest in a miner in old blighty for a change plus they,ve got loads of land too, cant go wrong!!!!! Going for more in less again, prepping for a RI in MWA,the big ones currently aside from yielders are still SPI,JRVS,ROK(that is yielding well,1.65p ex-div end of this month in case i get stuck with them),VOG,PLUS,and still seem to have 40+ altogether holdings in various things. HAWK is just pants, got 100k at an adjusted average of 45p,all that money sitting on the nest stopping me from having any fun, cosalt still got them, but not in the same quantity as you have but i guess you have the same sentiment on them as me on hawk, not favourable!!! AKT,cant make up my mind but holding for now,PYM in deeplock with KRY and a few bits and pieces, still happy with the yielders like vodaphone, balfours, scottish and southern. The Northampton project is going really well thanks, i,ll let you know the date!!!
Hi James, not been doing much of late. I've got too much lying idle in CSLT at the moment. Very frustrating share and one I just cannnot fathom. When it gets back into profit, I'll be out I think. Did OK with the Russians and Mexicans recently, ENRC put on 30% from the low of three weeks ago to yesterday's high. I didn't manage to catch it all, but did OK. If I'd had my CSLT money available, I'd have done even better. AKT - Interesting one. If you are in already, I'd hang on. There is the good chance of a T/O as they are quite cash rich. However the similarity with Intercytex worries me, I lost a lot there and don't want to repeat the process. The danger is that predators may see the Cerepro refusal as a weakness and merely wait until AKT are forced into a fire sale. Although the company are still trading, they are not really profitable and the development costs of the other pipeline products are high, so they are reliant on the wound care business to keep them afloat and IMO this will not be possible for long. We may see an increase in SP if buyers see the chance of a T/O above current SP, but as I said previously, certainly not one for widows or orphans. Got a few more in the offing. OML, PAL and MWG are all under the microscope at the moment and I may well be putting them in the 'Buy' column soon. Glad NVTA is doing well for you, it will do better. Sad to see HAWK and MWA not doing well, especially HAWK. I've looked at them and they should be doing better, but like CSLT, they are a lazy share. Glad things in Northampton are going well, don't forget my invite !
Hello stranger, just spotted you on AKT,another one in loss but do you reckon they,re worth keeping now? Reminds me of the dreaded cosalt!! NVTA seems to be going well,PYM fast asleep but all good hope factors i guess. Have been playing with SPI,UKC,JRVS,INCH type of things recently and maxed in VOG. HAWK remains a sore subject as ever but have done okay on a few here and there. How are you doing mate? Hope the geneology is going well by the way,my weekend project seems to be gathering steam too........catch up soon bud
Well nothing further to report, averaged down on SPI and jarvis, sitting on depressing losses across most of mine, cleared my open position and now going to sit back a bit and see what happens. Work has got busier and "gladys" is down for the weekend so no more share talk for me,have a good one mate and catch up next week, james
Well we are where we are mate,if i,d left everything alone for 6 months or so that i had this time last year, i,d have made a packet, patience is a virtue but we dont really have it!!! Step kids,eh,had 3 of them with the ex and all the other associated issues, gladys has one, away at university, thats a result in itself, good luck with yours mate,Wilberforce has a lot to answer for!!!!!
Your HAWK is my CSLT. I did all the work on that one and still do, the conclusion is the same, it's undervalued and should be doing much better. But it refuses to leave it's 'comfort zone', same as HAWK. Like you, I do, with that great gift hindsight, wish I'd put the money elsewhere. However, if I was just starting to look at CSLT (or HAWK) I would still reach the same conclusion. I think they are more of a buy now than they were a year ago, so why am I so pi**ed off with them. I need to learn patience I suppose. It's just frustrating having money sitting there doing nothing when it could be out working. Bit like the Stepdaughter really.
Okay well i,ve just bought 25k of BPC,busy today so best foot forward and after the losses sustained and realised on those "damn hawks" yesterday have taken a more cavalier approach than even before, its amazing the only share i,ve ever really researched, absorbed every scrap of data, asked around, webbed it,even pestered the MD on the phone and its almost as bad as RBS a couple of years ago,so i surmise its all about luck! Those GBP may be oversold and may have more cash than the current SP,but who knows where they,ll go,hoping for a SPI bounce as i went in heavily with some hawk funds yesterday, kept the 100K of HAWK for my sins, new adjusted average of about 45 to cover all expenses, might be a long wait!! Resisted selling noventa etc and hoping if the resource ones dont come of the baby pharmas do,a wide spread of risks but have decided never to exceed 10 grand on any one holding henceforth i.e.consolidated bets but not crazy bets!!!
No idea why i picked such a duffer in HAWK but have to sit it out now, just bought my GBP back, rightly or wrongly but you never know they could be overdone, will keep an eye on BPC,are you in there yet? Very happy with gladys,as you say worth more than money(or lack of it!!)
..you sold GBP, they came up with a 'duster' and dropped 35% this morning. Out just in time. HAWK is a mystery to me. They have a lot going for them over at 'Jolly Ranch' but, like Cosalt, full of expectation and never fulfilling. I think some shares are just destined never to perform. Keep your eye on BPC, I'm told that the guy running the show, AlanBurns, is very well respected in oil exploration circles and he is keen to get this show on the road ASAP as he is knocking on a bit and it will be his last big play before retiring. So we may see a SP hike sooner rather than later. Glad it's good news with Nurse Gladys, worth more than money mate.
Hindsight eh!!! Had a bad-hawk day today, sold a few at a painful loss and bought SPI again, actually in profit at close. Sold the gbp or whatever they were, not happy with my losses today mate, they seem to be everywhere, but at least i,ve got a nice girlfriend now!!! With respect to oilers, with the likes of hawk, vog etc etc i think i might have enough but better take a look as you do seem to pick the good ones!!!
..to mention SPI. Don't know if you noticed, but they fell a fair old way today. The 6 month graph looks very similar to CSLT's when they fell from 80p to 10p between May and October last year. I know you were watching, but I'd give them a miss for now. The statement they put out this morning wasn't overly bad, so there must be underlying problems somewhere. I'll look at it a bit closer when I get time. It may be a recovery stock at some point, but it sure aint now.
DES & RKH, well don't say I didn't tell you! Seems stupid now, but when I sold my original holding at CSLT as I was really pi**ed off with them (as I am now) I was going to split the cash between the two mentioned, however, they can't be held in an ISA so I ruled them out. I am looking to swap my SIPP around a bit so may include them in the 'new' set up, I don't like messing with my SIPP though. They are all up with the exception of Lloyds (-10%) and AI. & ICX, both of which went bump. Taking the last two out of the equation, I'm actually up 47% over the year with the best performers being GPX (+95%) and SYR (+84%) So that's probably where I should have put the rest. Hindsight eh'. See you got into GBP, I was looking at that and also BPC (a tiddler with prospects) and DPL (yet another oiler). BPC is especially interesting as it is in the same situation that DES & RKH were 4 years ago. They're looking for oil in the Bahamas and rekon they've identified around 11bn barrels. Will need a lot of cash and time to get it out of the seabed, so if you want to get in now whilst it's cheap, you may have a long wait. But if they do find what they expect, it'll be a gusher in more ways than one.
Well hope you had a good weekend mate and havent found anymore skeletons!!! Northampton was good, weather inclement but.......................anyway,bought some GBP earlier, topped up on KRY,SAM,UEN had to flog the inchcape but what the hell. I feel stagnation unless those hawks get going as i cant do any real big hits on anything,SYNC a bit like MONI,maybe? AKT and PYM seem to have gone quiet but they will either go ballistic or go bust i reckon, cosalt taking a long time to "recover" but we have time, dont we???? Would like to buy a shed load of centrica ahead of their results but could go either way i guess. Why didnt we sell everything and just buy desire and rockhopper 6 months ago, huge regrets.......catch up in the week mate, james
Oh okay then, i,ll keep them, can i topslice at 9/10p???? Cheers, looking forward to happier times on that side of things in npton.30% on those ones eh,need a 3 in front minimum then......
Don't be tempted by a short term gain at NVTA, they will be huge in a year or so. I want to be in by May but need to earn some money first with the miners. Saw the post on SYNC, let's hope we don't put our combined mockers on it, I.m looking for 30% at least. Good hunting in Northants.
Cheers for filling in some of my "research gaps" once again!!!! See how they go i guess,NVTA is currently in the unusual position of showing a slight profit in my p/f,will endeavour to hold on to them!!! Got my accountant coming down today to do the vat and wages so might have to be a bit elusive on the boards and then off to northampton to see "gladys" later. If i dont catch up mate have a good day and a good weekend digging up those distant relatives!!!!
Further news on NVTA. They are definitely listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) hopefully by June. This will create extra demand from Canadian investors, which should give the SP a boost. They will of course still be listed on AIM.
They are similar in a way to MONI, in that they provide advanced mobile phone solutions to developing countries. Have a look at the website, they have an excellent presentation on video and as a Powerpoint type presentation. They provide e-mail and Internet services via their 'Mobile Gateway' software and in partnership with a Korean manufacturer have just introduced the '$99 dollar Smartphone' and hope it will sell in millions. Tom Bulford did a piece in 'Penny Sleuth' about them today so they will be on the radar tomorrow. He may well tip them in PSG at some point. Strategy could be to stay with it long term and watch it grow or wait until it doubles then sell up and move on. My feeling is that they could well become very big in future years as they develop their products.
Okay just got 50k of them at 2.53p,what do they do by the way and do we have a strategy?
Stick with me kid, you'll wear diamonds ! They've only just started so hang on. I just sold some FRES and bought a boatload of SYNC. One of the big holders decided to sell 12m at 1.62p and the SP dropped 27%. I had a good look at it and concluded that it has been overdone so got in at 2.4p Fingers crossed it should get back over 3p pretty quickly as the sharks pile in. Might still be worth it if sub 3p you've got cash sitting around. You're having a good day today. NVTA, HAWK, MWA all up ,, let's hope it stays that way.
Have you clocked NVTA today, volume and all that and guess what,i havent sold them!!!!
