is it easy to transfer the bowleven dividend into my bank account?
Unless Lukoil strike an early deal I can't see this being sold before FID is confirmed. Got to have a higher value then -- like selling a house with planning permission.
If this goes down to 11-12p ex divi I will be buying a load more and I'm sure value buyers will load up as well. So if we see sub 13p it won't last long. Best bit about all of this is we have a very low risk share on our hands which has the potential to double after the divi has been paid with minimal downside risk. A bid could come very soon after ex-div and after we get the final payment once confirmed. #Exitingtimes
Lets not forget this was 26p before the announcement... we are 15% higher... are we going to open at 15p... or maybe lower...if the this goes ex dividend below 30p... then there is the Tax issue... a lot of people are going to get a tax bill of maybe 30% so selling at 30p is like selling a lot higher ..
Im not really sure where this is going to trade but is is going to open below 20p.. it could even trade 11p which is the price only a couple of weeks ago... 26p less Dividend is 11p... I
I agree i guess it depends how many sellers there are once it goes ex div.
After the £50 million cash payout has been made to shareholders BowLeven will still have £13 million cash in the bank and BowLeven's cash balance will be enhanced further by the £19 million payment from their joint venture partners in Cameroon - so resist the inclination to sell too early. There should be plenty of upside potential after you have banked the 15p dividend.
Yep. All things being equal sp should go down by the equilavent 15p ex-divi. But then based on current sp of 31p the sp will go down to 16p. But to value BLVN at 16p beyond then is crazy based on prospects so would expect sp to gradually increase. I've loaded up will take the divi and hold.
Atrium - perhaps you should develop an understanding as to how spreadbet providers treat dividends before providing advice to people. Don’t you think that everyone would simply short every high yielding dividend payer without owning the stock? If only this game was that easy eh?
That’s my understanding too.
Why not take out a Csd or spreadbet short to cover the inevitable post divi drop. There is definitely borrow available with IG Index. Win/win.
Can I confirm that shareholers only qualify for the special dividend if they are on the share register at the end of play (so after markets close) on Friday? That is what I would understand from the rns. So expectations are that this will open down on Monday morning of next week with no chance to sell into the down trend?
Dungiven - yes indeed, tax losses do have a value and the advisers working for BLVN, if indeed the company is sold in the future, will ensure that this is included in their valuation of the company. As to the ex-div date later this week I will be re-investing my dividend immediately on the drop expecting a steady rise up to and well beyond the payment date as I believe that this will be a great opportunity to get in at a low point again and I have no doubt others will do the same. As a result I expect that the end of day price will not be -15p but more like -10p but not long to find out either way.
I am also a holder having bought from circa 70p to about 39p. If I got my monies back, I would be happy. I initially bought because of Kevin Hart (cairn) but did become disenchanted towards the end. Think new guys are doing the right job and hopefully we will be taken out at some point. One thing that I think some of you have missed is the losses carried forward by Bowleven. I imagine it is worth something as well as this can be used elsewhere against profits. I have seen companies in the past pay for carried forward loses in a takeover. Only a thought
Even so i doubt he will want to get shares for 45p and sell for 50p. He would have been looking to sell for 90p probably but will have to accept 60p now most likely. Even after the dividend adjustment if there is one he will get to but for 30p and will likely want to sell at 45p+
they said they would when they did the hostile take over from KH et al, possible some human beings may actually honour their word. However I do hope your take on things comes to pass!
Totally agree, if they were not confident of moving the share price above 45p, why would they pay this dividend..
jed, I think the scenario you describe is unlikely in light of the fact that Eli holds share options that 'pay out' at 45p or above. I may be building myself up for a fall but I find it unlikely that he would go along with the 15p divi if it in any way threatened the price reaching this target. Let's hope so !
We all know that shares do drop when a divi is paid , but once this has gone ex divi then with luck the share price should start to increase a little each day so that when the divi is paid on the 8 th the sp could be back up to 20p- 25p -30p again. and ready for the next good bit of info coming out. re sell company for 35p
Shareholders on the register date and ex dividend date are not the same thing. Rather than debate on here suggest if you are thinking of buying or selling to get/avoid the dividend then you check with your broker.
Hi all I can’t see how the sp will drop on the 18th as that is the ex-dividend date, not 17th ? From Rns “The Company intends to pay the dividend on 8th February 2019 to those shareholders on the register on 18th January 2019.”...so you can’t sell on 18th if you want to benefit from the 15p per share dividend. But you can sell on 19th, and so long it doesn’t drop by more than 15p than whatever your own purchase price on, then you’re in profit.... That’s basically it as far as I can work out imho, Cheers Bapuk
1msn, can you show me where you got that information from on the dividend? As that’s not my understanding or others of ADVFN board. As mine isn’t in an isa, it’s lookikg like I’ll need to sell nearly half my shares before the dividend to avoid tax on it, and will look to buy back in after the drop
It is ex div on 17th so I expect it to be 15p lower than closing price on 16th on morning of 17th. As it is who is on share register at end of 18th, so 2 days earlier for last chance to buy to get div.
Will it drop on the 18th or the following Monday. I suppose a drop of anything around 15p means we will have gained with the recent rise. So a price about 18/20p after the drop will be a result?
Exactly
