Has anyone else not received their dividend yet?
I’m with HL and still waiting
Hi
Not sure about HL, but I do know Barclays Stockbrokers do invest dividends automatically, if you chose. I am also told that they will do likewise with WDS dividend due to be paid shortly.

I own these in Interactive Investor and Hargreaves, with automatic dividend re-investment turned on.
In ii, after the change in corporate structure in Jan, and the shares becoming DI (depository interest), the March dividend wasn't re-invested automatically, so I had to use the dividend to make a normal share purchase.
This week's dividend will be my first received in HL, does anyone know if the dividend will be re-invested automatically by HL?

Yes that’s my thinking Kentio. I am not confident on getting anything back from Evraz so just opened a position in Rio.
Even though it’s 17 years off need to be thinking about topping that Pension up.
You own the shares because you believe the company will gain in value. What it does with that money is up to the board. Personally in theory I would rather they paid off debt, but that depends on what the interest is they pay on that. Debt is "good" if inflation is a bigger rate. Historically some companies have always paid high dividends, and like to keep that up for fear of losing traditional shareholders who want income rather than capital gain.
Assuming there is no other reason for price change, the price will go down by the value of the dividend, but it does not often do so exactly because of normal price fluctuation. You can't have your cake and eat it. You say "I've gained nothing", but you could put that new cash you have into buying additional shares in the same company.
The simple answer is you do not benefit from the share going ex-divided.
The company value is reduced because it has paid out the cash rather than retaining it to invest or pay down debt.
I have held RIO. and BHP in my portfolio. together. for. years. I just hod. and. enjoy the. dividends.
Can someone please explain the SP drop in relation to ‘ex-dividend’. I’m not familiar with it and having read up on it am not much the wiser!! How, as a shareholder, am I benefiting if the SP drops by the value of the dividend I’ll receive periodically as a shareholder? If the value of the SP doesn’t regain that loss very quickly, I’ve gained nothing from receiving the dividend? Thanks in advance
A bit of a lazy / ignorant question.
My core holding over the past 12 months led by sell off of other shares has become BHP. Hold for what it’s with Evraz as well.
Was wondering does anyone hold RIO alongside BHP. It looks good value at the moment.
All shares down today.
So ex-divi drop plus general market drop.
Now down 8.5%. Greater than dividend but guess it’s some short term traders taking the money fir something else.
Ex-dividend today that's all. Nothing of concern.

After the demerger, woodside shares fell a bit. I purchased some more at about £17 on the drop. . I have now sold all my shares at £21.
They were superfluous for my portfolio, as I am already a BP and SHELL shareholder.
