It is ‘down to others’, but can no longer be left as such. Those ‘others’ as you describe them, whether friend or foe cannot be trusted or relied upon.
Afternoon. Pocko, “should only have a very narrow environmental interest” I’d say so. The whole process has become something less than honest imo. I got the impression a few years back, that someone, for some reason, is not so keen to see Kallaks fully measured yet. What I mean is, should we have a burst water main in centre London, we might then expect a halt to any exploration at Kallak. Anyway, its official, the process has not served BEM well, and it is for others to deal with that. Imo only. atb
Notice I wrote HIV instead of HIA..sosrry. Lol.
Sorry, TSP, yes, I did say that. Three years ago we LTHs had already waited five years and we were in a similar state of expectation to now (or rather last December) less so now...having been promised by the Government that a process was underway. The KU Committee's investigation has revealed that promise to have been an empty promise.. as was 'prioritised' and 'forthcoming'; it wasn't.
I mean, they only have to read it..they don't have to write it. So five 'experts' reading a HIA...how long would it take? And then of course they'll have to discuss it and write a reply to the question, whatever that was.
pants this and market pricing accordingly
Suzy did you just say 3 years??
"there's going to be no hiding it for another three years"
We're left guessing but at least things have moved forward in that the Department of Enterprise and Industry (lol) is under scrutiny from a growing number of MPs who think it's a matter of some importance..there's going to be no hiding it for another three years. Although this wait is a bit stressful, it's hard to imagine it will be an extended process for UNESCO to examine it...the HIV was done in accordance with their own guidelines. Talking of extended processes, Mr Damberg said that more than three years ago, he didn't think it should be an extended process. He didn't know the half did he.
What can the UNESCO ‘experts’ possibly find in our application that our ‘experts’ haven’t included? I appreciate conflict of interest and confirmation bias... but given they (UNESCO) should only have a very narrow environmental interest. How hard can it be?
Outsourced decision-making... What do Swedish politicians do all day?
Just had my first jab. As I left they gave me a certificate of exemption for housework for 48 hours. Did say wasn't necessary but they insisted, at least that's what I told my other half.
Absolutely right, Eric...he's got this weighed up.
sweden ha good luck Aura
The second asset, the Häggån Vanadium & Battery Metal Project, is a world class, strategic European polymetallic deposit located in Sweden with the potential to be a major supplier to northern European critical metals users.
Good post Eric.Be respectful and you will command respect.
Yes Eric...Kurt is playing this well imo
No, what you've said there is just wrong, in my opinion. He hasn't been negligent at all, he's been careful. The Swedish Government has involved UNESCO but without Kurt kicking up any fuss. It may seem bizarre that, but Kurt has let the Government back itself into a corner of its own making, but he has indicated that the UNESCO involvement was not a necessity. He has been clear without the bluster and without losing his rag, which works in our favour, and will do so down the road, if legal action is the only remaining option. What we didn't need was a hotheaded response to this latest delaying tactic. Kurt is being respectful, with a well measured response, at such a crucial stage.
In my opinion.
Actually, it wasn't last night it was one of those recorded programmes.
Anyone watch that Trump programme last night. Jesus wept!
Yes, it's an interesting argument and it was wage slavery until about 100 years ago, wage slavery vs the liberty to starve to death. Then there's the dilemma of Rights, whose Rights; my Dad used to say the trouble was always that other people had them.

While we're at it Suzy, let's not forget that quite apart from by the more recent Vikings and saxons, English people were also enslaved by other english people just a few hundred years ago. Its called serfdom, but slavery by any other name
I agree aug59... KB has been professional throughout this process, particularly as our reputation was in tatters towards the end of CSP’s tenure... He is keeping his powder dry
topsharepicks. No, I am not saying that he is being negligent. I’m saying that the independent report clearly states that the process has failed BEM, and that KB has an obligation to ensure that those failings are addressed, timely. His comment ... “it's not a matter for UNESCO” was a signal of intent, should that be necessary. Imo only. atb
aug59 absolutely spot on with that assessment I was only thinking this a few days ago KB has been negligent the way he has handled this with that regard
Pocko, the KU report changes everything, because, we are in exactly the same position today, as we were when the report was published. In light of the report, with the failing of the Government, KB has a duty of care to the Company and its investors to bring about changes to address those failings. Following the report, KB did not seek assurances from Baylan in respect of necessary changes, it would have been reasonable for him to do so, but as we know, he appears to be someone who does hard-talk in private. If we are subjected to further, unreasonable delay, then KB has a legal obligation (imo) to make input in an attempt to make those changes happen. Today, Baylan is hiding behind UNESCO, should that continue, then KB has to seek those changes from upstairs, with the option, Baylan must change, or he must call for Baylan to go. Enough is enough! All in my opinion of course. atb
You make a very topical point Treetop...English people were enslaved in Rome in the 1st Century and this question of ethnicity is ridiculous. I can understand it if an interloping nation comes across a people who are not in tune with modern times, an unknown tribe in the rain forest, who couldn't possibly be expected to get up to speed in one generation, they need protection...otherwise the thing is a total can of worms. Nobody lived in Northern Europe until after the last ice melted, we're all ethnic.
