hi noveckingood.
i’m happily long on AZN, and i thought those results were pretty good.
but i think it’s often helpful to try to understand and take into account
possible counter-arguments /contrarian views in this uncertain world.
therefore, i’d be interested to know about the reasons you see AZN
as an “easy short” from 10, 572. could you explain a bit please? - tia.
AZN goes from strength to strength. In my view this is a stonking buy. Over the next 6-18 months, as many of the promising phase 3 trials move into approval, the market is going to realise this is a durable growth story. Currently AZN sits at a discount to similar growth stories in America. Big re-rate coming.
Very strong numbers, all bodes well for the future. This is the star holding in my portfolio along with the oilers and BAE. Long may it continue. If only GSK was as well run and commercially successful as AZN LOL
I haven't started yet but thanks, remember to pop back from time to time and gloat some more..
Good luck with that........
ive only been there for 6 years but still keeping a good Bonus/SAYE/SIP holding too
Welcome Ron - I started work in the ICI / Zeneca days and have fortunately been given end of year bonus shares over many years !! Collected a far few and have saw the SP increase steadily over the years. Feel lucky to have them as a next egg to pass on in the future. I'm sure the family will splurge then :-)
I wish you good health and wealth.
I assume you all realise that the value of a company is based on profit not turnover.
This is an easy short from here not a buy and hold..
Lots to be happy with there. The line that keeps me here though it:
‘We plan to initiate more than thirty Phase III trials this year, of which ten have the potential to deliver peak year sales over one billion dollars.’
Investing for the future of the company and my small bit of it!
Yes, welcome Ron.I am a holder in AZ for the long term. Indeed a share to pass on to future generations, given my age. Like Diageo one to hold onto even if the buying in time may not be perfect. Good fortune to all who invest with AZ.
It is always heartening to welcome new investors and I'd like to wish good fortune to RonR with his confidence with his investment in AZN. Trying to time the market is a mugs game; the biggest risk is being out of the market. FWIW, my first investments were made in 1979 and to put this in perspective the Stock Exchange doubled in 1975n in just 3 months; in March 2009 the NASDAQ rose 50% in 3 months and doubled in 3 years following the financial crash.
Time will determine if our decisions were wise.
New on here, so hi!
I am a true believer in AZN as a great company, an excellent ethos especially in the way they responded to the pandemic, which in my opinion proved to be the best move, concentrating on strengthening their medicine cabinet and aquisitions. So much so I have just put whole chunk of change on the table (for me anyway) as I am anticipating great things, which will be a two finger salute to all those who's only focus was greed, ripping the world off with the CV vaccine.
yeah, from investment view, my chips remain down for l/t, from a trading
perspective (always a minor note for me) no big position ahead of results.
On….
The covid bonanza is over for others which has upset some large players but never was for AZN. The hard work in oncology is paying off and it seems alexion was not a bad deal either from a pipeline perspective.
full year results next week. chips on or off the green beige please.
Usual MM manipulation. AZN gets new US approval and down goes the price to run the stops for their mates. Any one would think that every new approval costs them money; not makes it
You are right, I did conflate the argument: I should said I treat them with the same contempt! I doubt he would have been bright enough to pick up on my philosophical abuse of argument though!
Anti Vax, remoaners, etc……
Who cares really? When the Share Price hits the 100 pound mark, it may be time to top up, as many of us will have done over the years with this excellent company. The Anti Vax brigade are yesterdays people……..
Much as I am happy to bash anti-vax idiots you make a grave error in conflating them with so called “remoaners”. Far more anti-vax opinions are to be found amongst the extreme libertarian pro-brexit tories than the more rational folk who voted remain. Andrew Brigden being a prime example of this idiocy LOL
Evanescent, I for one will buy some more when the price seems to have settled, so much in the pipeline still.
AZN been granted immunity from prosecution by the UK government for their cov-19 vacancies. Similar arrangements with US for their phama. So all these hoax stories won't bear any fruits.
X-rader = scaremongerer
There is an inherent risk with all medicines and medical devices. As long as the benefits outweigh the risks use is acceptable.
Lawyers backed up by scientists quickly poke holes in opportunistic actions
Ant-vaxxers are what they are, you can't fix stupid.....
I only wish the share price would drop to the levels seen in 2021 as it would provide a super opportunity to top up...
I’ve had a good innings here. Time to sell and move on for me. Good luck to all other investors. Been a good one
but meanwhile, FDA nixxed evushield.
Just like a holocaust denier and remoaners; antivaxers prefer rumour not fact. Lawyers love ignorance. No place for you here. Unfortunately some will have had a bad reaction to a vaccine just like you can die eating a nut or taking an aspirin. I have had the AZN jabs and had nothing more than minor discomfort for a day. On the other hand I have seen what covid did to someone who refused the jab. Go to the ADVFN board, you will be at home there with the anti vax diatribe deramping the share.
