I wouldn't be suprised if boris has done a deal with abbott now.. Come on avacta show us these EU contracts... The suspense is killing me..
Isn’t it obvious!?!? It’s not been about who has the best test… it’s been about who was prepared to give the biggest kick back. The Tories love a back hander….
Innova’s test is garbage. Somehow got through PD
Mologic have a decent test. Can’t get through
PD
Avacta have the best test with CV to prove it, having demonstrated their working. Can’t get through PD
There’s clearly a problem here and I’m not sure it’s Mologic or Avacta. An urgent enquiry into what’s going on and how this government expect to expand and develop its testing solution is needed.
This is a post from another thread that I ticked up but is very pertinent to this one also and tackles a previous comment that a poster had said Avacta’s test wasn’t getting the same treatment as Mologic, well goes some way towards it anyway. There have been threads and rumours of PD not passing the Avacta test because they were using frozen samples rather than live…..anyway Timsters post
I'd say there is a very high chance it affects avacta, this is from the risk section of the annual report.
In order to participate in tender contracts offered by the UK Government, the AffiDX® SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Lateral Flow Test has to pass an evaluation process at the UK Government’s Porton Down facility. The first stage of the evaluation process does not use the lateral flow test in the manner that it was designed for and there is therefore uncertainty as to whether the test can pass the Porton Down evaluation process which could delay the ability to tender for government contracts. The Group is progressing the clinical validation and CE marking of the product so that sales channels (other than the UK Government) can be exploited regardless of any delays in obtaining UK Government approval or tenders.
Car crash. Behind the scenes you hoped, prayed there was a logical plan: "Get a sovereign test ready chaps, something we can wave the Union Flag about, and then we'll join forces to make it. A bit of Dunkirk spirit. Avacta the best you say, ok, we'll all make that. A piece of the pie for everyone."
Alas, the govt is a shambles. One of the Major Generals forced to take Bojo to court for dereliction of duty. What a bunch of back to fronts. They need to be exposed. The SP :0(
Sorry got my date wrong! Saw the wrong date elsewhere and parroted it. Thanks for correction. Overall point stands.
There are a lot of strands of evidence to consider together in making sense of this. Namely:
- Avacta are almost the only UK LFT developer not publicly bad-mouthing or in disputes with the government at this stage. Except Surescreen of course, who have a small deal.
- Mologic have gone public with their dispute now, just at the point where Avacta have a product for sale and could be about to sign with the UK government. Having been stonewalled, it’s unlikely Mologic have heard it’s not them, but they might have just heard that it IS someone else, and got the hump.
- I keep coming back to the April announcement during Avacta’s investor Q and A that it had just been confirmed the test worked on the South African variant. Presumed to be PHE analysis, likely at Porton Down. If it is confirmed to have worked with this variant, it is by extension confirmed to have worked in general. If true, PD isn’t failing the Avacta test. Otherwise, Avacta have a different lab testing for variants. This makes a strong sales proposition abroad - self-monitoring vs variants without any dependence on PD.
- There is an Avacta investor presentation on 22nd June, only 2 months after the last one, so not necessary without big news to discuss. The date coincides with the date of the UK decision on whether to extend the Innova EUA, and with the day after we were originally planned to be opening up fully from lockdown. Surely planned to coincide with or come after further news, possibly news that Avacta will be joining the mix as Innova stockpiles are depleted, or potentially taking over once it is. Alternatively, perhaps a deadline set with the UK government to make their orders before Avacta sell elsewhere?
You have to ask yourself now though - not only whether we want to deal with this awful government… but also if we are massively in bed with them to make and sell 100s of millions of tests, will it tarnish Avacta’s name to be associated with them after this Innova fiasco? I’d be very happy were we to sell elsewhere, in lower volume. Either way I’m sure we’ll be hearing about progress on orders by next Tuesday.
Wrong board.
It will take whoever is manufacturing for novacyt at least 2 months to T&T. And that has to be done after a successful CV and CE. So there awhile off releasing to any market imo.
Meant to add, has this put novacyt in the picture with their test about to be launched this month... No idea who their partner is.
Could sure do with an update tomorrow from Al, either to say our test is still being considered, we've withdrawn from tendering or even better, here's a 12 month order for 5m a month from spain.
"In a word or three....what is the actual significance of all this to to Avacta?"
Although Avacta have collaborated with Mologic, Mologic have had their CE mark for months. They are being stonewalled on the basis of kit failure. Mologic question as to how can Porton Down/PHE get masses of kit failures when no one else in the world that has validated the Mologic test has managed that.
Avacta are not being blocked due to kit failure, it would be speculation that Mologic are in an identical position.
I believe this news is positive for Avacta, it will make the UK Gov sit up and at least question the Innova review by the MHRC.
that's a sombre thought, do you think uk gov is corrupt and will continuew with a dud test and ignore the mologic/avacta one(s)
I think the significance is Avacta are in bed with Mologic and I suspect our test is also being rejected by PD for the very same reasons and the joint Uber test between Mologic/Avacta has now F**kin zero chance of being the sovereign test. The sooner Al announces EU orders the better, I only see the SP going one way until he does.

In a word or three....what is the actual significance of all this to to Avacta?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Good question, but noone on here can accurately answer, they can have a stab, but that's all
PS Willhunting has not appeared since 14.11, is he ok? almost 150 postings since 4/6/21, that is the date showing as when he became a member, i'm only humun and go by the facts laid before me
was his former name on here something lke Matt Damon, only guessing
Avacta, a firm from Yorkshire, has produced the highest quality LFT which has taken ages to get accepted by govt agencies. The UK govt has spent billions on a US firm / chinese made test which is effectively described as useless by the FDA in the US.
In a word or three....what is the actual significance of all this to to Avacta?
Well if odx won’t be making mologic (vistect) for gov then who will they be making ,? Won’t be innova test.
Don't think the charge of being totally anti-LFT can be levelled at Deeks after that tweet.
Nice to see the UK Dx industry fighting back after being effectively silenced for fear of missing out on govt contracts.
Looks like a concerted effort by ALL UK Dx comps to put further pressure on MHRA ahead of the Innova EUA decision.
Just hope some day the truth will out, regards the red carpet rollout laid on for Innova this past year.

Maybe why Avacta are concentrating on Europe knowing the prospects of achieving anything in the UK are limited.
Mologic CEO, Mark Davis, takes a swipe at Innova when he says the Mologic test "...costs a fourth of the price of the Innova test."
We can see what Mologic feel the UK Government slant is. I believe many of the companies in the UK after seeing the damning report by the FDA will now heavily question the UK Gov-Innova relationship.
I think I’ve said all that needs to be said about PD.
Thankfully PD are not involved in sales to 27 other markets across the Channel.
Dreadful
Who & what are ODX waiting for with the government equipment. Maybe it was destined to be Innova but it almost certainly won’t be now.
