Well if people are daft enough to waste money on killing nature, more fool them :)
Picathartes, mate, tell that to the guy with the 2 million quid! :0)
Mr Spacetomato
One way of dealing with the Moles i have found really useful is to live and let live, its nature don't fight it feel it :)
Picathartes
Banjowest,
Just a quick diversion from your success story (well done mate), regarding your mole's technique and savoir faire, I have about 3,000 square metres garden, and my next door neighbour another 3,000, back in Burgundy, and my neighbour's mole infested garden moles decided last year to migrate to mine. /:0(
I tried traps, shooting them with my air rifle (not funny), flood them, even dogs hair. They only laughed at me. My garden was like the setting of the great escape! The neighbourhood's garden had about 20 mounds and mine about 10. The battle lasted a the whole year! But then, I decided to go rough on them. I parked my Ford Ranger on the garden, stuck a hose I the exhaust pipe and gassed the bastadrs for 20 min for each hole.
I haven't seen any news tunnels or migration yet, though not sure what has happened this year as I cannot go there yet due to French restrictions. My question to you would be, does it work in the sense, do they come back?
I suppose that question could go GenieGenie, as well: what are my chances, statistically, of a revenge mole attack?
Cheers
ST
Maybe go for free ride. That said I'm doing same as you. Squeeky bum time
Would a wheelbarrow not be more useful?

Could you make me a pair of trousers ?
Liecesterboy, I guess your point is would someone really put in such a large amount in one company. A lot of people clearly would not. But most people invest on a whim or they are risk-averse. If you were about to retire or you needed the money very soon it would be a serious risk. But, with serious research people do invest millions of pounds in single companies and they can make a huge amount of money. Ask Warren Buffett! He has invested millions of dollars many times in companies and held on till they reached the value he saw in the fundamentals. That is why he is a multi-billionaire. Bushveld Minerals went from 1.3p to 48p in less than 2 years. It came back alot since then, but people who pilled in from 1.8p to 5p and decided to sell out in the 40p plus area will have mad huge money. That stock still has huge potential to recover when the steel and energy market gets going again.
I would be amazed if there were not many investors already with holdings in 6 or even 7 figures invested in Avacta. With the upside potential, it could well yield exceptional returns. When you look the others right now it offers a very good potential, the world markets are very shaky right now and many businesses are very cautious with forecasts and if we have a second spike around the world leading to another long lockdown those buisinesses will be had hit. Avacta has the potential to make the best of this oppertunity and with the right partner for the pre-CISION Affimer blocking treatment for Covid19 they would be set to gain a huge global market.
Given people and governments are playing roulette with lives as we are no further forward in terms of a vaccine or treatment from where we were in March if we don't see a huge spike coming again it would be very supprising.
The only reason we are all going back to work and lockdowns are being eased as the number of people in the hospital is less than expected, not because the virus is under control! People forget very easily.
So having a large percentage of a holding like Avacta may not be for everyone, but I am sure right now it doesn't look such a bad place to be. There will be other investments which are also strong too, but here we talk Avacta.
Until there is a vaccine or cure, both highly unlikely then testing and blocking the virus are going to remain a huge business opportunity.
Avacta remains a very large part of my portfolio today and I have added more this lunchtime!
Cheers,
RK
@banjo - congratulations btw.
Obviously your investment decisions are your own, but given what you said about BMN haunting you, does that suggest you are letting this run for a while?
What a very strange post, Leicesterboy.
Putting the full £20k a year into an ISA each year, with a very conservative 15% profit each year would see your total nudging £400k in 9 years. That's in one ISA, you can double that if you're doing the same in your partner's ISA as well. Then of course if you have aduly children... All would be tax free.
As for £350k in one stock - why on earth not? If your total investment portfolio is £5m that would be 7% of your holding.
And just to clear up something up, my initial investment was 250k and added to make it 500k over two weeks.
To be fair my investment in Bushveild although a success was no way near its potential as even if l had taken profits at 35p. I would of been sitting on two million ...that has always haunted me...which is why avacta came along and did my research ..l knew it was a keeper.
@Leicesterboy - ridiculous post. Of course you can assemble an amount such as £350K in 1 or more (spouse) ISA’s over a period of time.
You ask why would he invest 350k in one company - well I would say his £1.5m profit tells you why. He could easily pull a cool million out now and let the remainder run. Happy days!
I made my first half million in bushveild minerals ...from an initial investment of 45k all held in sipp and isa ...further investments in Titon and Spectra systems made me me another 350k again all help in Isas and sipp ...like most l took a pasting in April with a 250k loss on a Suk2....anything is possible.
What a stupid post - it is possible for people to have more money than you without being corrupt. From Banjos previous posts it appears he made the majority of his money from bushveld minerals. And if you have 100% confidence in a share why not put all your money in it? The likes of banjo and me will all be laughing when this explodes and you’ll be sat here having made £100 crying. Melt.
Fortunately though, his budget will probably stretch to paying an accountant.
Do you all actually believe all that you cannot put that amount in an ISA !
If he has £350000 to invest where did he get that from not Mole Catching, I would suspect
HMRC will be very interested as to where he got the money from he will also need to make sure he fills his Tax Return in correctly when he sells them. It is not something I would be publishing !
Why would you put £350000 into one company ?
Re "Just out of interest.
How do YOU catch a mole?"
I recall that Jasper Carrot favoured Moth balls and Garlic !!!

Just out of interest.
How do YOU catch a mole?
Congrats Banjo.
Pesky moles.
Well done Banjo,
£350K takes some balls mate. That is the first Sun Article I have read in over 10 years.
I be reading even more if they get the word out about Avacta LOL
18% on that amount....he's into 40% band, still a great gain and good PR for Avacta......and all of us!
