I visited Dolgellau this weekend and walked Cadair Idris, which if you haven't done it, it's well worth the effort...spectacular views. I had a trip down to Bontddu. Local feeling is that the mine is re-opening and that ALBA have discovered, significant new deposits of gold. It's going to good for the local economy. Award of the de-watering permit should see the start of a huge re-rate here IMO
Plenty of other things to get on with. Gold finds every time thanks to their methodical approach. Keep the sp where it is as my other shares are flying:)
Thanks Jacksdad that's great. Although locals don't necessarily have insight into the planning what they can do is to express the general feelings of residents towards our plans. If they are on side then we are a big way there for getting support for opening the mine(s) and digging out the gold. We all know that local opposition to projects often causes immense delays...if there's no delay here then it's happy days.
Does anyone have a rough estimate as to when we should hear about the de watering and fingers crossed it does rise the sp.
Gla
More reports have been requested in relation to the de-watering so depending on how quickly we can turn those around and THEN they have to be examined...I expect no answers before September.
Public consultation rendered no objections, this is about habitat disturbance, species not disclosed
It beggars belief why NRW ask for more reports so late in the day, surely this should have been included nearer the start of the process
if i was a cynic, I'd believe it would be to cause an extension and therefore make it look as if they weren't outside their service level parameters in determining the application.
Visible gold apparently, so why the hell wasn’t this applied for years ago. Sp down again. Congratulations
Elir. Thanks for the info by the way. Why are reading all this news recently before it comes from the company itself? Someone say the sp is going to be over 1p tomorrow please
Well I for one welcome transparency of local and national government communications. Ive been watching the NRW site like a hawk for the dewatering permit news (well, I wrote a shell script on a cron job to monitor it)
@Mark
Its an odd one when dealing with the authorities, sometimes its better to just give them the information they ask for, as giving them superfluous information can open cans of worms. So its an understandable strategy. The nature of the additional info required is not specified, though it is hinted at that it is to do with species and their habitats. It may be the case that these reports are already at hand, and if so then the process would be quicker than having to undertake these studies from scratch.
I have asked the company for clarification, but received no reply. Perhaps it will be responded to in a more public manner, which I would fully understand as it is reasonably sensitive information.
Scotgold on BBC2! Maybe this will boost the SP tomorrow...we can only hope. Alba Minerals should get a bite of the cherry as well from the BBC. Let's see. GLA
Elir, Let’s hope Alba have anticipated this request for additional info and like you said, a report is already prepared. NRW would surely not want to delay this any further knowing how important an issue this is ??
Watching TV last night and it was on the development of smart motorways. They had a dedicated dormouse specialist on the pay roll. You could not write this stuff......
I am optimistic that the elusive de watering permit will arrive sooner rather than later.
I believe Alba are very knowledgeable, when it comes to permit application, and environmental matters, and have the full support of all involved in the process. One of the reasons I invested in them was the total confidence I have in Alba for getting all of the permissions needed to mine in such an environmental sensitive area. I never lose sleep over whether a permit will be granted. I believe the hold up for this permit is not due to Alba's lack of effort in providing the information required. Alba will be frustrated at the length of time taken for this permit to be signed off, just as we are. These permits are very complicated, the red tape is thick.
I have copied a link for those interested, its a from "Environment Systems" Alba(GMOW) commissioned them to carry out bat surveys in 2018 and 2019 at the Clogau Mine. Thankfully Alba do not need a dormouse specialist, but we have bats and fish have to be looked after.
I would expect the permit to be granted within the next two to three weeks, maybe even next week. I certainly do not think it will be September.
Sorry here is the link Environment Systems

SAlba,
I could sort out their bat problem :-) rats with wings ........ all joking aside its frustraiting how many hoops we have to jump through.GL
Ian67
I agree so many hoops.
I would think all that previous bat work would be of great value with this application. From reading between the lines on the permit application website. I can not help thinking (from what I know about such permit applications) that Alba has been asked for some information, that they should have been asked for much earlier in the process, so the delay has been caused by NRW . I pretty sure this is what has happened. Lets hope NRW will pull out all the stops to get thing moving quickly for us now.
Agreed alba have sent several emails asking for update on time clearly keen to progress the dewatering ASAP. NRW allowed the application to be duly made in March meaning all requirements were ill filled then waited the full 4 month determination to ask for more!! Blame on NRW
Interesting reading all the thoughts on the Permit application yesterday evening. I guess enough said on this topic for now.
The fact that George stated "Dewatering Llechfraith Shaft· Permit applications progressing well." in the 19th July RNS shows Alba were somewhat blindsided, if that is not to strong a word, by the request for the delay in application deadline on the 23rd July.
@alreadyinuse
Why do you think we should be "gifted" IPO shares ?
You as an ALBA shareholder are getting (indirectly) shares in Greenroc as ALBA would own a sizeable proportion in exchange for the licences they are transferring to Greenroc. As such you as an ALBA shareholder would benefit from appreciation of the Greenroc business. Non ALBA investors will be bringing cash to the table, to progress these projects.
The analogy with a house builder is that ALBA bring to the new venture a building plot on the cusp of having planning permission. The new investors bring cash to the table enabling the construction of a property (or at least some of it).
Building plot does not equal house
No I feel he already had that information at the time he premempted it. There was conversations the week before with a list of requirements to be felt a lot is done on the phone so we can’t gain everything from reading
