All excellent points VanVan and thanks for the Sandstorm reference too.
Sorry, John, I thought you were aware I was moving as there were suggestions at the time that I should change my moniker on here. Anyway all is fine this east side of my country and I am about the same distance from an Atlantic coast
beach that I was from the Pacific Ocean. On just one day here in South Carolina we received as much precipitation as our whole desert year in 2020. We had one traffic light in 100 miles. Now I have to put up with maybe 5 in one mile and roads and driving standards are truly diabolical. But everything is GREEN and the soil is like Devon's red and not just brown sand & gravel. Unfortunately many of my new " locals" still revere Trump and the Confederate flag..... sadly all of them " losers" imho so right now we are rather wary of socializing within the Republican/Evangelical environment . I was sorry to leave Nevada but the bottom line is my wife was getting very sick and depressed in the 125F regular heat waves and yearned for her former happiness this side of the US. Additionally, our national news has reported that the water level of the United States biggest man-made reservoir (Lake Mead NV) has fallen 140 feet since year 2000. With global warming and lower annual snowfalls that does not bode well for large cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix and the prime agricultural lands in the West. So we were offered a very good price for our old home and we took the money & ran! Our new home is very pleasant and twice the size of the last one....but, of course, no mountain views anymore.
Anyway, coming back to AAU (Ariana) and both your own and VanVan's recent comments it does seem that info has gone " off the boil" somewhat. However if you put yourself in Dr. KS position...He has gone from a Uni student in Southampton to a comfortably wealthy entrepreneur. Ariana has evolved from a Company quite heavily indebted and a " minnow" in mining to a very respectable Company, virtually debt free, and clearly with an extremely competent BoD and technical staff. Kerim ,I
believe, is probably at his happiest and best when he is into geological assessment and exploration. That's probably where his heart is rather than plunging into admin trials and tribulations. Additionally he clearly likes his homelife....
" No Worries" as they say down in Oz. With AAU generally in safe hands and the greater facilities and expertise in Company Management on tap from both Proccea and Ozaltin, Kerim is free to indulge, at his own pace, in the theories he has expounded for quite a long time that precious minerals follow a pattern around the northern part of the Aegean and the southern Black Sea. But what can we really expect to hear other than drilling results? In my opinion what we await...and it maybe some time coming...is sp increases and regular dividends...and all that will really come together when Salinbas is developed. Regards DJ
Hi John
I was also disappointed not to hear anything about our next mine at Tavsan and the supposed elephant in the room, the Hot Gold Corridor and in particular Salinbas. In fact these two key strategic projects have only had one update and that was part of a production RNS back in January. And then they only warranted a one sentence mention. The E.I.A. for Tavsan is overdue (Kerim said early this year it would be complete by end of March) and if the delayed mine is still going to commence end of 2021, then we should be informed about progress on many fronts. Land acquisitions, Forestry permits, Strategic Investment status, final costings and CAPEX costs for Feasibility study, drilling to extend Resource/Reserve & Life of Mine, Mine construction & infrastructure, Environmental, community & social impacts including the E.I.A., Permits etc. etc. Originally I believe Tavsan was going live back in 2019, so there has been plenty of delay already. It just keeps slipping with no proper explanation. As you may recall, they dropped using a Gantt chart in their presentations showing all the projects, as they kept missing deadlines and said these were often not under their control! The Gantt chart was no doubt becoming a bit of a pain in their side. Salinbas was also supposed to have environmental community and permitting activities through the winter of 2020/2021 as well , but again not a dickie bird. It seems since the new Joint Venture has come into play, communication has fallen away badly. There appears to be an air of complacency. How come BRR didn't ask any of these questions. Was their research sub standard or did the Co. ask them not to ask any such questions. The Finals with Annual Report & Accounts should be completed soon. I suggest we use the online AGM as an opportunity to legitimately ask questions on all these issues. Ariana appears to need to up its game. This is going to be particularly important if they hope shareholders will reinvest all or part of their special payout back into Ariana shares. Perhaps they are going to make a special effect to communicate the new strategy and project progress ahead of the payout. We shall see. Disappointing is the current word in my book.
Just caught up with a weeks posts. Bit of spare cash so did buy a few shares at a nice bit less than 5p yesterday. Not quite sure why!
Watched the BRR video. Didn't hear mention of Salinbas. Didn't hear mention of Tavsan. I lost count of the number of times exploration was mentioned. AAU is an exploration company again with a relatively small production side to fund it. Trouble with exploration in new areas is that the resulting production, if any, is way on the horizon - a decade or more. That's why imo we are stuck here - one off divi which will knock back the SP, doubtful there can be regular divis and a long wait for more production to generate more income - though I guess de-risked assets, once developed further, could be sold.
With Tavsan the most likely next production area, where production is sweet but short, I can even see a point where AAU will need to have money in the bank because income will slow or even dry up.
Whereas I can see a SP jump on the rather belated special divi confirmation, I can't see any immediate driver for SP increase unless POG goes through the roof.
So if I am interpreting him correctly I kind of agree with DJ. Its maybe not a pensioners share!
John
ps didn't know you'd moved DJ. Gave you got to change your name on this board now?
Ha Ha pay your global tax, you got sold a pup!

No taxation without representation?
"forced coprographia " ?. Better wipe ya chin, matey, using words like that. (You've even made Flashheart almost hit a mountain searching for his maps) . Trumpy won't be around in 2024 but it seems we have worse crackpots crawling up out of the sewers. Hopefully the Federal & NY Attorney Generals will be the ultimate Pest Controllers if our Nancy (or even Moscow Mitch himself) doesn't push them back down their holes. Tally Ho!
On a serious note, Paul, I'm rather pleased that you've recognized PALM as being worthy of investment.
‘It's going to pee down with rain here for the next few days, it seems’
It also seems a whole load of forced coprographia is happening Stateside to.
Trump 2024.
Let's me clear about this deal, gwm 121, I would hate you to pass up a chance to make some good money from AAU's future. Fresnillo has done well but kinda " peaked out" somewhat since last autumn but right now AAU is static mainly because there are a lot of plans which we know are likely to materialize in the future but many have not happened yet. It might prove to be a better bet than FRES in a few years,
It's not as if AAU has diluted. Far from it...It has been mining very successfully, much cheaper costings than others in the trade and has great assets in good places. This JV will mean that AAU will get a smaller piece of the pie (about a quarter of its former entitlement....but the pie itself could be much, much bigger because of what the JV intends to do. AAU itself will have become " flushed" with money from its new partnership agreement so, apart from the " one off" divvy we are about to receive, it will have capital to take on new ventures as itself and possibly without too much borrowing to accomplish such. Hope this makes things a bit clearer for you. There is, of course a further angle on this. PaulD, though somewhat " flippant" at times is within a younger bracket than many of us so may have a few more years to accrue future wealth. I have already reached my target for my investment in AAU and happily enjoying my retirement. But if this Company continues successfully under Dr. S, I can think of many material things to purchase which would add to my personal enjoyment! Enjoy your weekend. (It's going to pee down with rain here for the next few days, it seems).
The reasoning is Lord Flasheart and his aerial manoeuvres, woof woof!
He will give your wife something to hang your towels on, woof woof.
soz still not understanding...
desert kindly clarified ozatin deal will dilute income throwoff by half, and a large chunk of money will be returned to shareholders which would indicate aau cant use it profitably.
With this change its probably unlikely regular divis, and divi policy apparently clarified late june.
It would be nice to just leave this holding if there is a good chance of stable capital increase,.. if.
In the meantime aau dropped, and gold dropped 40 dollars yesterday,
so paul please.. your reasoning, thankyou. (but i DO understand goggles chocks density altitude rate of climb)
Paul is expressing his view that the price is about to take off. Chocks are the wedges put against aircraft wheels to stop them moving unintentionally. "Googles on" is a reference to the pilot of an open ****pit airplane putting googles on over his eyes before take off, likewise "chocks away" is the command given prior to take off. "Goggles on chocks away" is probably a phrase from WW1.
Here's hoping Paul is right.
paul please show reasoning for this remark, thankyo, im triyng to understand enough about this share to stay in it.
Goggles on chocs away!
Part of it is that the bid ask is really wide so the price can bounce around 4 odd percent without it actually meaning anything. I also think yesterday’s close was artificially high. Looking at the charts (bar charts show this bud offer effect nicely) and the trade data it’s hard to see any actual rationale.
There is a one huge sell today, about a million shares, which has driven volume higher than normal and normally that’d be a sign of... something but doesn’t seem to be.
What is it with AAU share price? Damn near every time we get good news in a buoyant RNS...down goes the sp. So far today it's - 7.65%. Gold is up, sterling is stable against the US$. It's not a Wall Street Friday....so who's behind all this?
Otherwise all is fine in my new location, John and we've enjoyed a few consecutive 90F days recently but much higher humidity this side of the country.. Ongoing battles with squirrels eating new plantings. Coyotes can't climb trees but they have killed most folks' cats. Can't get used to all the greenery after my desert living. It's been an exceptionally mild winter (according to my neighbors). A couple of light snow showers and maybe 2 weeks of car windows frozen overnight. However the hurricane season approaches.
thanku you two. Usually I tick up instead of post message so bard isnt cluttered.
Suprised aau came off its highs as would have thought this money now in the share price, and a share price drop of same amount when its due.
So aau cant profitably use all of that money?
I do like situations where the capital in a shae is untouched and a divi can be used, just feels better. So tending towards poly brwm and very near term producers as pur, so although ive been in aau for years fres may be a better match.
great post DJ. Maybe I can clarify one point for gwm. The Ozaltin deal led to a dilution of just over 50% in AAUs current (and immediately foreseeable) revenue producing assets. With that dilution, and distribution of a significant proportion of the 'big chunk of money', several posters here doubt that a regular dividend is possible/likely in the near future.
Hope things are good with you DJ, expect its becoming balmy and you've put your winter jumpers away where you are.....
gwm121 - There has been considerable discussion about dividends by many contributors over the years on this site and you will need to research all that. Basically there were two schools of thought. One was to use production income to fund future development of Ariana's assets. The other was to hope regular dividends might enhance share price and attract investors. That changed somewhat with the establishment of this new JV with Ozaltin (and our original partner Proccea). The simple explanation is that by going into this partnership Ariana will acquire a big chunk of money and the decision has been taken to distribute some of this to our shareholders (some of whom would prefer that money to stay in the Company on the basis that the share price could advance further as the JV successfully develops assets...Salinbas area in particular). Regular divvis are not " on the cards" at the present time. We are going to get a " one off" but it is not ruled out that a successful future development could lead to regular divvis...although imho that may be perhaps several years away and meanwhile, as you see from to-day's RNS, there are new plans announced for the Balkans. So, gwm, I would respectfully suggest that you forget about divvis and trust that this Company will enrich you instead with a much-improved share price in the fullness of time. Regards, DJ
25th May RNS
The Company has been notified that court dates have now been fixed for early and late June and will provide an update to the market, including detail of the Company's future dividend policy, in early July.
master g
i am not understanding the divi policy can you help please. Have we any idea if a regular divi is likely in the ..near.. future, if not is fres perhaps a better bet. Will they spend all on exploration, or likely free cash flow for regular divi.
Where is the best place to look for latest news on the one off divi perhaps due..shortly
is there any info on working towards an annual dividend anyone please, not a one off, a regular one.
Anyone already in Fres? What do u reckon, Fres or aau better for long term stable outcome ..
Fres silver, aau gold, Fres 2% divi aau no regular divi.
Had a look at quick look at MTL. Still lot of debt and negative asset value at year end, long time before any chance of dividends. Prospects are much brighter here with near term income stream likely and very little debt. Partner with lot of clout in Turkey to advance projects, AAU diversifying away from Turkey reducing risk further. I for one expect good news soon and will stick with AAU until full potential is realised. I have continued to add over the last few months and now await the special dividend. Long as the company continues to have good exploration potential and backs it up with results, I will stay put for the long term.
If it's a cheap gold producer you're after with exciting exploration and untapped potential check out MTL. Look at their debt reduction and route to cash at current gold price. It's easily one of the best tiddly-wink producers on this God-forsaken exchange and one I continue to throw chips at.
