You're/Your/Yawe sew/so pedantic, tinny.
Got me going now, it's pedant, not pendant.
Try again!
My pet hate (not pendant, that's a locket, medallion, amulet) is people who pronounce H as 'haitch' instead of the correct 'aitch'.
UGH.
There's certainly been a lot of molluscs talked on this thread. :-)

I’m on tenterhooks for this damp squib to dry out and go off with a bang lol had too
Never mind we’re getting close place your bets ladies and gentlemen GLA
If you*re referring to me, i am the eternal pedant. one of my many pet hates is people who say damp squid. My other is people who say tenderhooks, instead of tenterhooks.
i maintain my sense of humour. i dont get angry, i am just a pedant. sorry.
In this case it originated from Phrontist. It doesn't make sense as a squid would always be damp. A squib, on the other hand, is an explosive device to initiate a bigger explosive device. I do hope some here aren't losing their sense of humour.
I`m not sure where the term `Damp squid` originated .
The Major correctly referred to a `Damp squib` , a "small explosive device" , which of course would not ignite because it was damp !!
I think the squib should have dried out come June ,
~ and the the damp squid will probably be a dead duck . )
Dear LORD !!! OK, im a pedant...so....
DAMP SQUIB... a situation or event which is much less impressive than expected.
"my moment of power was a damp squib"
There is no squid...damp, damned, or otherwise!
Damp squid? 'Damn squid' could be more relevant if one could swim in oil.
Oil markets dropped 5 % COP movement of 5% must be a conspiracy theory driven by 88e
The American market didn't fair too well on Thursday, and oil stocks in general were down, (e.g exxon and chevron also had steep falls). Probably more to do with concerns about the us-china trade dispute than any leaks about us.
Speaking of which, could be worth watching for any info coming from exxons agm on Wednesday, may give some clues on their future plans on the north slope. Could be very relevant to Yukon, if not icewine.
Phrontist,
You are way off on this, it is more to do with COP market direction see graph ...
https://stockinvest.us/technical-analysis/COP
COP along with other Majors always have open lines of credit, they would probably be able to deal via free cash flow in our case, they certainly would not need to approach anyone, and no-one would find out until deal is done. Not the way the Majors work.
BB32
Just an interesting point about COP.
Their share price dropped 5% last Thursday.
Their SP does the usual moving about.
But 5% in one day is highly unusual.
It equates to over $3b reduction in MC value.
This is a very big business. No special announcements were made.
Maybe they have applied for a large scale project related long term $loan?
Obviously a leak of something came from somewhere.
The loan could be to buy a large oil resource asset in Alaska....hint. )))
If repayments were over 20 years, say, then this is one method of being tax efficient.
Initially the loan will become a deficit on the companies balance sheet.
And the purchased oil asset that is not fully proven could be entered at a low value.
So it can be used to offset tax against the very large profits they make.
Only thoughts. Not ramping. There is NO evidence this could relate to a North Slopes purchase.
Phrontist
That's what they told me!

CJ
Ah not so Crazy-Janey :-) Makes sense actually saw Jarvis as a previous Director and still did not tie together :-(
By coincidence added X-O link to wiki tax page today.

Anyone with a X-O trading account (me) comes under the JIM Nominees - Jarvis Investment Management...
Eandom=random
A squib is a "small explosive device" - in my childhood they were called "bangers".
As for Jim Nominees, it has a smaller holding than any 10.eandom posters on this BB. A micro version of HL.
just love a power duo :-)
out of curiosity had a look at capital structure and who "Jim Nominees Limited" are.
They hold 41M shares 0.66% of the business.

active or dormant?
Is there an Australian version?
appy Monday everyone, not so sunny up in Scotland and Bank Holiday not general up here but life's great anyway, just cooked lunch fro grandchildren - everything eaten and smiles all round. :-)
We'll have to wait and see on the damp squid front but it's a positive that we changed tact and will hopefully not end up as a one trip pony ;-)
