15th to 17th isn't it?
Ooops ~~~ 1/2 a post !
~~~" 17th - 20th Feb." ~~~
I was going to say : IF this is to accommodate the rig , does this suggest we are running a little behind schedule /
~~~ "17th - 20th Feb.
22.41 - not quite there; just a little extra push needed? VGLA
It's our rig I can confirm
Some great work Brom. Surely has to be the rig.
Lemajor..yeah my mother-in-law driving!
Thunder Birds Are Go
I previously read I think 1.5 miles an hour?
Not that it matters!
30 X 1 = 30 hours.
Less than 1.5 days
2-3 drivers on shifts.
Thunder birds are go!!
I'm sure you're spot on with your take on the closure Brom. Thanks.
the link is there up to everyone to make up their own minds
pity can no longer see haulage permits, possibly camp can go in ahead in prep but all a bit sketchy.
If the distance brtween Deadhorse and the start of iceroad is aroynd 30 miles and the Dalton is to be closed for 36 hours over 3 days, that means a vehicle travelling at 1mph, or thereabouts, could just about make the trip in the time alloted. Does anyone know of a vehicle that moves at that speed, and neefs to use the Dalton around thosr dates...... hmmmm! It's a tough one!
not a definite but could make sense
Ah yes!
road closure between deadhorse and mp386 over two days, we know the rig is massive - 17th - 20th Feb. just could be.
Not with you Brom?
emphasise "what it might mean" but deadhorse to ice road junction
READ and think what it might mean

well you would not need chillers for the lager :-)
mmmmm beer lollipops
TD, I think you may have stumbled on the reason for the CR.
DD, you could get a job there treating bed sores - after all prevention is better than cure.
20:56 this ice road is for Charlie-1 only*, if it was a community access made annually we would probably not be paying for it, and LeMajor makes a valid point, only summer access vehicles would be allowed on the tundra to access the "far end", we do not need worry we have experts handling this for us, the only variable was the weather and I can assure that the temperatures are plenty cold enough and the ground temperatures meets the winter travel requirements.
Suspect GBP may have eyes on it :-))
Major, 20:45, what about the restaurants, cinemas, pubs? It's a long wait for the rig to arrive!
Tarquin, from the original plan, the rig was to be moved immediately the road was completed, not during construction.
If it was my call, I would get the accomodation, generators and other site equipment in there first. That way the site can be commissioned while the rather wide rig unit trundles down the road. When it gets there all the teething problems with electrics, heating and floodlighting will be sorted.
Most of these roads are made annually, so the equipment is probably already on site. Not sure about Charlie 1. Maybe the equipment was left over from when BP drilled. I'm not an expert on these matters, just speculating.
