Anticipated End Time Feb 23 2020, 9:00 AM

Active All Day
This time tomorrow the rig will be on the ice road.
Not long now fellow 88E'rs!
The Ice Road cometh.
Must be 20 or so hrs since the Rig indicated left and dropped down the curb on its merry way.
As the old saying goes... SOMETHING BIG THIS WAY COMES!! :) Let's hope there's no massive ice-potholes en-route...
So far, so good HS!
Alaska 511 the Road closure has been updated yesterday with an Email address for updates on the rig movement.
Email has been sent reply will be post when its received.

Good morning cat,
In the article, one can replace weeks with days!
GLTA genuine investors.
Rig is halfway through the last leg of its trip up the Dalton. Next pull-in willl be onto the Ice Road..
Shame there's no "rigcam" or "davecam" or whatever to watch it live?!
To quote Treebeard in LOTR "I always like going south. It seems like going downhill." So, up or down the Dalton??
We are on the North Slope, the rig started nearer the coast. Does the Dalton slope down from Prudoe Bay? That might explain why the tundra is so boggy - but which direction does the Sagwon river run alonside the Dalton? Let me think......
Sagwon river, might flow both ways if its tidal
its 700 ft above sea level... that would be a pretty big tide.

Here's hoping they don't miss the right turn in less than an hour's time. Need to flick the indicator switch shortly.
At 1mph it should be ok...
Don't know about anyone else but when i try to imagine this beast of a rig rolling down the dalton hway or the ice road I always picture something like a traction city from Mortal Engines.
had thought we might have seen some "live" updates from DOT511, but I guess that NO news is probably GOOD news even if for us news hungry types it is frustrating. :-)
17:29 big engine, perhaps an Allison auto box mated via a torque converter ,hub reduction axles and very HD chassis frames I imagine.
17:29 yeah! Reading that to my young son at present, the 2nd one.
that sort of size probably hydraulic pump to hydraulic motor hub drive.very inefficient but ultra reliable as multiple hubs could drive and multiple pumps could feed.
