You’re not supposed to say the 50s
Avi will be most upset
One hopes that something preferential develops with Swisscom. I guess we have to trust Margherita and the BOD to have made the correct decision to best protect shareholder value in the longer run. Maybe Margherita is not desperate to take the first offer as she knows that next week's Q3 results are favourable and will buy her time to negotiate a better deal with Swisscom. Let's hope so as poor results could send this into the 50s! It doesn't bear thinking about! It's obviously disappointing to receive another broker downgrade, this time from Deutsche bank but I'd certainly settle for £1.45 at the current time!
Vodafone not good enough or yourself (Margharitta)? :d
That were a very sad filme 😭
Jaxi, I finks Northern Rock may have been worse, although that was a long tyme ago...
Iliad where trying to take control and Vodafone were having none of it, great decision by Vodafone.
This is no tyme to take the pith...
RIP Vodafone
Depends which side of the fence you’re on.
Looking great for going bust
It not looking goode
Is on course to lose 50% of VODs mcap in 12 months as CEO
Is that a record?
Interesting, in talks with SWISSCOM who would be a far better option.
A spokesman for Vodafone added: “We said in December that we are exploring options with several parties in Italy.
“We are no longer in talks with Iliad, but our discussions with others continue.”
One potential suitor that could still strike a deal with Vodafone in Italy is Fastweb, a mobile and broadband provider owned by Swisscom.
Don’t panic though the divi you get soon will buy shares at at lower price
But it won’t be the lowest price for long
The Broker downgrade today is not the main driver for the SP drop. It will be the collapse of any potential deal on Italy in the immediate future.
And for me if the broker previously said we are worth £5b less in market Cap than they previously thought then yes I see that as a downgrade.
Deutsche bank reiterated buy but cut the target price means it has to fall.. Their target price is silly and will take several years to achieve that if turnaround at vodafone happens which I doubt with amount of debt pile they are in.
With share price so low, Margharitta will be sacked, dividend will be cut and probably new CEO from outsider may do good for the shareholder.
I agree with you lunchbox. A drop in Target sp from 165p to 145p and maintaining BUY, which is more than twice the current actual sp, causing the sp to fall c. 2.5%, seems totally bonkers !!
What I think happens is the effect caused by analysts replacing the new 145p in their elaborate Models which try to incorporate all relevant variables that can affect the sp. A reduction by one analyst - DB here -appears to disproportionately affect the sp, maybe because of the trend downwards. I can't think of any other reason fwiw !!
Personally, I feel VOD is way way undervalued and the new CEO obviously needs more time. The previous CEO was incompetent and has left a mess. There is a wealth of untapped expertise in such a diverse business such as VOD.
Yeh must be.
"French inflation eased more than expected in January to reach its lowest level since before Russia invaded Ukraine — the latest sign that the euro area’s efforts to tame surging prices are nearing an end. Consumer prices rose 3.4% from a year ago below estimates of 3.6%"
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-31/french-inflation-cooled-to-lowest-level-in-two-years-in-january
You must be nuts to take any notice of those things
So the fact that they reiterated a buy and a target of more than twice the current sp is not good news ????
UK's GDP is where it was in 2007 but as long as you are happy in your ignorance.
Are you aware it was a downgrade, they cut the target price, they still see it as a buy but at a reduced SP. So not really good news anyway
You think they didn’t know about the announcement.
I see Germany and France are doing well compared to the UK since Brexit lol 😂 The EU really working well for them 😂😂😂 And that’s despite our incompetent politicians messing up everything they touch and the remainers cutting their noses off to spite their face.
Anything to do with Vod or U.K. plc generally more a case of not fiddling while Rome burns as arguing who will hold the violin.🤡🤡😂😂. Terminal. Poor old labour will inherit just a debt pile and shagged out brexit wrecked economy and there will be nothing much they can do. When Blair got in the economy took off for 8 plus years and sterling as well, but without rejoining the EU just can’t see how U.K. doesn’t keep tanking. I see 28 billion valued Flutter now moving listing to NY. Ftse just doomed and shxt like Vod will end up being owned by bondholders, shareholders fxcked I’m afraid.
Why are you guys going on about an offer ?
THERE WAS NO OFFER
ILIAD HAS NEVER MADE ANY OFFERS
You are never going to get anywhere near "offers" if you cannot even agree and move on further with a Proposal
This was just a Proposal , way behind any stage of a formal offer or even offer agreement
Even 2 years ago there was NO Offer ... then it was just an approach and a "preliminary indication of interest" which also got rejected by VOD
