What changes has she made?
Progressed the UK Merger to the competition authorities (timelines are now out of her hands to some degree)
Agreed sale of Spanish Business, Any company purchasing this will also need to carry out due diligence and regulatory approval - again some of this timescale is out of her hands
Proceeded with large scale job cuts - which have started and continue but the results of which we wont see until results are declared (not just updates as they typically focus on the revenue)
So there are 3 very large strategic actions she has taken since taking the job (not including the other tie ups [eg microsoft etc]). Its disingenuous at best to suggest she has done zero in her time. Is it enough? not to get to an SP that many think, but definitely to get beyond £1 IMO
Through all the daily noise, for most of us it's about the long term.
Reading about Iliad, I still have enough faith to believe the deal wasn't the best one, and there's better to come. So if this proves to be the case the initial reaction is just a bump.
I invested in Vodafone for the long term, 5-10 years, and have been topping up and bringing my average down each year in my isa. Why? Is it fundamentally much worse over the 12 months to reflect such a gap in the 12 month high - my view is no. I like the divi, it gives me the option to have some cash, reinvest, diversify, or have a treat. If I lose the divi and see the share price increase by 5-10p fine. My view is this still has good long-term value and a current upside of 20p + on the current price over 2-3 years. Only time will tell though.
Jax, your crystal ball's broken:

Thanks and agreed - it's certainly difficult to get serious interaction going on this board
It’s got to be a two percent minimum today
I'd suggest Vodafone have more visibility of the Italian business than media commentators, and they also know about any talks they've held in the background with other parties. If Vodafone had jumped at this deal it may have backfired on them later, and possibly showed a level of desperation. They've likely rejected the Iliad proposal for good reasons.
"Let's hope Margherita knows what she's doing " ..LOL.. I doubt it.. She should not have rejected the offer but should have kept it on hold till better offer is confirmed. What changes she made to vodafone group so far since she took over? Nothing.
Anyway, now media said that it was a mistake... Share price will be hammered badly.... lets see how badly falls in the next few weeks.
Let's hope Margherita knows what she's doing. Iliad were obviously not pleased to be rebuffed, hence the unhelpful and untimely announcement from them that any deal was off. Something from Margherita to steady the ship would be most welcome. The IR efforts from VOD are really poor.

I is very upset right now 😭😔😭😔😭
I wont filter you Jax, because I find your stupid one liners, that make no sense, amusing; For example, "it will eventually go to zero - or so that’s what my scientific calculator tells me". Clearly that would never happen since Vodafone could buy back the majority of their stock, out of petty cash, well before it got close to zero. Your wind-up technique is obvious and weak minded, you'll have to work on it if you want to achieve your goal of scaring viewers on here.
Gutter I'm going to filter you. I can't read anymore of your post's faking illiteracy, it isn't funny it's just sad and boring. The only thing I would say is that you have some sort of mental issue carrying it on for so long, I suggest you seek some specialist counseling.
Well yes. I suppose it can’t keep going lower than each divi payout every single time like it has for the last million years or it will eventually go to zero - or so that’s what my scientific calculator tells me.
Funny about MDV is the way she started her job saying "we are not good enough" as if she is going to rectify that.. All these time she did nothing new from what Nick Read did.. With such a huge debt pile and majority of the Vodafone's loss making business don't know how they are going to survive... This time looks like we may 50p range soon. Vodafone now need Director from outside...
Althuogh this cuold go up obvvios. I got know idae. I has never had any shares.
Garonne very grim indeed with everything against Vod including MDV, she’s the biggest liability and should be stated as such in the accounts notes.
Latest in with the divi on Fri leaves me about even but will be in the red tomorrow that’s for sure.
Gordon, doublin downe is puttin all yer egs in one bascet.
There are hundreds of other shares, diversification shuold alwayz take priority.
Only a lunatic wood put everyting in dis.
I am also of the opinion that MDV will be sacked imminently.
Worst CEO of note. Reminds me of Truss.
Same sort of haircut too
And no doubt will again tomorrow. What a grim investment this has turned out to be. Hoping for something positive here, anything!
I agree too.. With FED not in a hurry to cut interest rate, MDV will have to regret her decision. She need to act fast now or she will be sacked and that I can see is imminent.
Gordon57, That sounds like a very serious question, and i'm not sure anyone here would want to answer it, but please be aware there are a few clowns on this board who are just wind up merchants, so please DYOR and be very careful
best of luck to you
Whatever MDV does the market disagrees with
Maybe the bint should take the hint
Sinking overseas too
lol
The share dipped into 65p today.
Obviously the Vod share price has plummeted badly and doesn;t seem to be able to find a support level, at least not yet, however I see reference to Vodafone potentially going bust or at least the share price dropping to penny share status. Can anybody who really understands the financial implications of Vodafone's debt, offset by the vastness of the business and it's cash generative characteristics, explain dispassionately what the likelihood of such domesday scenarios really is?
I'm significantly (for me ) invested in Vod but not in any asset threatening way and I'm still toying with averaging down if the price drops to 65p, so would appreciate any genuine insight that's not coming from a ramping/ de-ramping perspective
many thanks
Good for you - whos Mikey69
