Extensive exploitation on the most important fields of the river industry Almost half of all mining permits and more than every fifth wind turbine in the reindeer husbandry area are found in the specially protected land areas of the river. It shows a new survey of Sameradion & SVT Spmi. To carry out mining, several permits are required. One of the most important is about the so-called processing concession, which companies apply for at the state authority Bergsstaten. Sameradion & SVT Spmi has mapped all mining and wind farms in the reindeer husbandry area. The survey shows that more than four out of ten mining licenses and more than every fifth wind turbine are found on fields designated as national interest for the river industry. In total, there are 46 mining facilities and 220 wind turbines, and the national interest means that these areas should, as far as possible, be protected from exploitation, which can significantly complicate reindeer husbandry. n Mal Samby's most important fields, there are currently fifteen mining and two wind farms, and samebyn has repeatedly stated the need for a comprehensive assessment of how it affects the run-up. "Twenty-five years ago, we felt that the pressure on exploitation could not increase; that we could not accept more intrusion. Since then, it has only escalated, "says Jrgen Stenberg, chairman of Mal Samby. Even if a processing permit does not automatically mean that there will be a mine on the site, he thinks that the permissions should be added to the line of all the mines that already exist or have been in the area. Today two big mines are being run in Mal Samby's area, two new ones are on its way to open and just over ten mining mines are in the area. - A collection area where there is a mine will never be restored, it is out of order. When the mine is laid down, the soil is gone, says Jrgen Stenberg. The national interests are set against each other In many areas of exploitation, rennringen is not the only national interest. Even mining or wind power can be classified as national interest due to the good availability of mineral deposits or the good wind conditions. When two incompatible national interests are weighed against each other, the law gives priority to the best that promotes the long-term and sustainability of the land and the environment in the area. But 103 of the wind turbines are located in areas where the pipeline is the only national interest, Sameradion & SVT Spmis shows a survey. And in cases where the riksart and wind power's national interests are tied to each other, the wind tends to weigh heavier, "the Energy Agency notes. Even a large number of mining licenses, 21, apply to areas where the river industry is the only national interest. In many of these cases, the area has only been designated as national interest afterwards, but at least four o
They are like " ask them if they'd like a new road"? and "would you benefit from more investment in the area?" Agree though - too cautious - they have a solid case. No pussying around....
has clearly been prescribed by the lawyers, in the face of relentless intransigence from the government, and probably explains the request for the deadline extension? I wish the few remaining hardcore lths well. This is now a share purely for trading, and very risky trading, too. Can't say no, won't say yes. It will continue as long as Kurt has the appetite for it, poor chap, or until the company folds. How many wish they had sold 12 months ago for 17p?
Why would Beowulf end their 23 page submission with a request that the Government engages in further consultation. The reason suggested by Granite (15.07) is an interesting thought and might suggest that Beowulf are not confident of an early positive decision. This seems to be is turning into a David Lynch suspense drama
Agree. It's already a joke.
The company is requesting that the Government seek the opinion from the Region of Norrbotten on the following questions: ˗ To what extent are there other interests in the region would be able to get the advantages of a future investment in infrastructure such as electrification and upgrading of the Inland banana and investment and strengthening of existing roads ? ˗ To what extent would a future mine to facilitate future investment in infrastructure? ˗ needed the infrastructure investments in the region or county administrative board's opinion, true to a mine only leads to unnecessary economic investment in infrastructure in the region? ˗ At what stage make state decisions on investment in infrastructure and how is the Analysis? And to end.... After this, the government should prepare the company and the Sami villages the opportunity to comment on the issue before the case is finally decided. I'm convinced but I always have been. We will all be right if we live that long :-))
you could be waiting a long time before you go on your hols mate: "5 Concluding comments 5.1 Proposal for the handling of the case the company is requesting that the government sets the following questions to the SGU, Mountain State, Region and Norrbotten Svemin, to bring the issue of assessment under Chapters 3 and 4. environment balanced beam illuminated."
God I hope they don't really want the government to ask more questions as this could go on and on...surely Kurt wants this decision done and dusted as soon as possible?
d...I'd be having another nibble at this.
Thank you Mick, I've just skim read that, it makes as expected a compelling case for a yes and penned by this lawyer http://froberg-lundholm.com/colleagues/magnus-froberg.asp. Main talking point would be that the company request that the govt ask others MORE questions, which is a bit like a ready made excuse for the govt to lengthen th eprocess further but I'm assuming that if it did not do so and did not grant the concession there is a ready made legal case?.
Thanks. So BEM wants the government to ask a set of questions to mountain state, SGU, svemin and norbotten it appears. Let's see if the government grants BEM it's wishes? You can see why they are doing this, so that it is a non biased argument with comments from professionals in their field and not just non-factual comments from the cab.

the bit in English is very impressive. Completely destroys the CAB and Sami's arguments about transport and mining life..... I remain very confident
i used google docs, will try splitting the doc in half and try that
Did you use Google or another engine to translate? If so, it's possibly due to the fact they have a limit on translation one go. You may need to split it into smaller sections of text - seems to get a dozen pages or so done in one go.
Thanks Mick, good so far as it goes but it lapses back into Swedish around page 13 just as it's getting interesting (!) about reindeer.... The suspense is killing me now.
for some reason it didn't translate the whole doc, tried again but get same result

Nice one Suzy I never thought of that. "I'd love to take you on holiday my darling but the sun will dry up your beautiful smooth skin. Do you want to spend the rest of your life looking like a dried prune". Sorted ;o)
If a decision is forthcoming soon my bet it will be end of Feb beginning March. I'll be in the Caribbean, that's sod's law for you. Its happened to me once before with BEM, three years ago on yet another false dawn I was 30,000ft in the air when the SP took off, just saying.
PS Tell MrsEd it's bad for the skin.
Ed....I'm expecting it any day...but shush...keep your voice down or we'll be pounced upon. ;-)
The 23 page submission avallable on Facebook needs translated. I am surprised there is no translation of it on Facebook, everything else there seems to be translated. Who can show they are clever enough to fix it so we can all have something to read many times over while we wait and wait and wait?
Good morning young sir & madam I'm with you on that one. A failure to at least give us a decision date could lead to a divorce for me. Mrs44 is desperate for our usual winter sun holiday but i've told her that I'm going nowhere until I know the decision is made or we at least have a decision date. If we went on holiday now, with my luck the decision would come whilst we are in the air en route to the sunshine or in our hotel trying to get some info on a snail speed wifi system. ATB
" If Mr. Damberg is true to his word, and given the Mining Inspectorate's comments in recent days, then we should see the Concession awarded. No authority has highlighted specific deficiencies in our application that warrant any other outcome." :-)
