PMG to promote the Causeway Trophy 2013 in Singapore

PMG, the AIM quoted sports, entertainment and media agency, announces that it has signed an agreement to promote and manage the Causeway Trophy, a newly created annual golf event played in a Ryder Cup-style between professional golfers from Singapore and Malaysia. Participants will include both established touring professionals, as well as some up-and-coming stars, with each team of twelve represented by a team captain.

The tournament, which is due to take place at the prestigious Laguna National Golf and Country Club in Singapore from 7-9 June 2013, will be co-sanctioned by the Singapore Professional Golfers' Association (Singapore PGA) and the Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGA Malaysia).

This is the second new event that PMG has added to its golf portfolio in the last six months after the ADT Caps Ladies Masters Golf Tournament that the Company promoted in Singapore in November last year. PMG will also be announcing the creation of several additional golf tournaments over the coming months.

David Ciclitira, Chairman of PMG said: 

"To me, the greatest tournament in golf is the Ryder Cup. I have been promoting golf tournaments since 1987 and it has long been my dream to become involved in an event that generates the same passion and excitement as the Ryder Cup. I believe that the Causeway Trophy will tap into the traditional rivalry between Malaysia and Singapore and has the potential to become one of the region's great golf tournaments."

Singapore PGA president Madasamy Murugiah, said:

"The Causeway Trophy is not about the game, it is about the relationship between the countries. We are proud to have such great support from Laguna National, Parallel Media Group and the Malaysian PGA in making the Causeway Trophy a reality."

PGA of Malaysia president Mohd Firuz Jaffril said:

"The PGA of Malaysia is delighted to be part of the inaugural edition of the Causeway Trophy. The competition is another channel for players from both countries to show their prowess on a level playing field. We are grateful to Laguna for hosting the event and we look forward to a new impetus in the development of professional golf in the region."

Note to Editors: The Causeway Trophy is a new tournament played between professional golfers from Singapore and Malaysia, and co-sanctioned by their respective Professional Golf Associations. It is a different event from the Causeway Cup, a golf tournament played between media professionals from the two countries.
