British American Tobacco PLC28 July 2005 DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING The independent trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trustnotified the Company on 28 July 2005 that it had on 27 July 2005 released 25,147British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") toparticipants in the British American Tobacco Long Term Incentive Plan. Following these transactions, the independent trustee of the British AmericanTobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 24,135,773 Shares.
