What is happening between N brown and Boo is quite bullish for this share. Remember Povlsen has a networth of 12bn, over 3bn of that is cash sitting in Bestseller as a distributable reserve. Sooner or later someone will make a move.
I would look at the £80m differently, think of it as a recapitalisation of the business which increases the tangible book value, well the banks will certainly look at it that way.
Have a look at their H1 net debtors and creditors. The amount is a net liability of £60m, plus some of it will be for the pmi and travel insurance so the net liability is really £50m.
Maybe bod think that the mkt cap is immaterial compared to the value they can get through this partnership. After all Esure are trying to sell their business for £1bn, and I think saga has a better more diversified business.
De haan only gets a salary of £1 so paying for his flights and travel is immaterial.
To be honest I don't think they will be able to find a partner for their cruise line mainly because ordering cruise ships and having them delivered won't be possible before 2030. Secondly their operations just won't be profitable enough when the ships cost £450m each and at financing interest rates at 7-8%. It's far more profitable to buy shares in Viking who mainly cater to the US cruising market since they have more disposable income compared to us brits.
Esure could be worth at least £1 billion5 Oct 2024 15:28
Looks like PE are trying to sell their insurance business, this should provide an rough idea of the value which could potentially be unlocked here in the coming days, weeks or even months:
Let's see what they have to say about partnerships. They have until Jan to refinance the 2026 maturity otherwise they will not be getting a going concern statement from the auditors.
