In the meantime... the SP will continue to wobble and slowly inexorably rise... as there is far too much value currently NOT priced in... simple as that!

There are always "potential" issues with any AIM investments. Sentiment can change on a sixpence - but invariably the lowest lows are reached much faster than the highest highs every time.

Nevertheless, as AIM prospects go, I think Amer is as good a short - to medium term - investment as there is right now.

Underpinned by an albeit low offer, with other interested parties waiting in the wings, and a push by bigger fish to extend their exposure and investment into oil in the region.

Just a case of waiting for the market to respond in kind to the rising bids as they emerge. Worst case scenario as I see it is right now is a protracted bid process that drags out in silence raising concern among investors and encouraging a few to maybe even leave the venue in disappointment, before the party has really even got started.

Time to sit on your hands / add more if you can IMHO

By way of explanation:

I was all invested here well before EG... and wasn't happy when the news landed (finally!)

I also held through various placings which diluted my holding each time.

Today, I have a trading account and cash out of GGP whenever it reaches a fair price (regardless of what the news may be) But... I always retain a significant tranche in another holding account... just in case I get caught out - AT LONG LAST - by the illusive buy-out RNS that we've all grown grey waiting for... the only way we're ever going to make money here IMHO... because otherwise the MM's will never allow us to see fair value.

I have no doubt "IT" will land one day... just don't really know which day / month / year that will be...

Half in / half out seems to work best with this share. Learnt this the hard way. Far happier with my current holding as a result.

Sitting on your hands on 99% of shares on AIM just ends up costing you IMHO :-)

I agree with Mirasol: Without written and "independently verified" proof there can be no faith whatsoever left in the words of this BOD.

Planning submissions (late or otherwise) testing phases and medium / long term strategies will just be viewed as more jam tomorrow diversion by discerning investors now. Small spikes for the day traders... until the next placing - and those "months of funding" Lucan cryptically mentioned are already clicking down!

Shorts are going to continue to have a running battle maintaining and lowering the SP from here onward, in IMHO. Would make sense for them to close and the only way to do this without incurring losses is to try to target the SP (Friday always a good day!) and try to bring it down to a manageable low before buying back.

My best guess is that they will close out later today and the SP will bounce hard on the back of it. Maybe a slow sustained re-trace next week and beyond.

In the meantime... still profitable trading opportunities to be had for those with time on their hands.

The SP is dropping because:

A) It's August, and city folk can't be arsed to buy around now... too focused on family and holidays.

2) There's just been a placing (which was "inevitably" going to be sold into).

3) Any deals or news from Newcrest is more than likely to turn up in September rather than now... as it will have infinitely more market impact then.

4) PI's and II's partially selling down their holdings because they know 1-3 above.

Someone needs to tell MW to change their "We are short on Burford Capital..." statement. Since they closed out their short in full earlier this month... technically they are "neutral" BUR!?!?!?

I'm sticking to NO kids, eating less meat, cycling as much as I can... and changing my diesel car (sob...sob...I love it though!) sometime next year for a green(er) alternative.

Whilst I disagree with your dim view of Greta (she has - after all - been packaged & publicised by an image hungry world press) she's simply fighting for something she personally believes in. At 16 with aspergers... she could still teach most politicians a thing or two and should be applauded for her efforts).
I do agree in principle with your statement above. The problem is - as always - we skirt around the issues... using global warming / pollution / food shortages / environmental damage etc... etc... when we "all" know that the real issue comes down to one thing, and one thing alone:

increased global human population!

Cure that and you "start" to heal the planet... but which politician...which country...which society is EVER going to accept that we don't have a god given human right to have as many children as we want?

So - as unpalatable as this may sound - you are correct in my opinion... we will become extinct and the planet "will" breath a long sigh of relief when we're gone.

Sad but true IMHO :-(
