I'm not for one minute suggesting that the MM's micro-manage every twist and turn, but fewer buyers are as a consequence of the SP being held in a narrow trading pattern by the MM's for the past months - IMHO. Discourages traders and even LTH's from topping up in the short term. Although - in another respect - it does encourage LTH's to hold shares for the longer term as the volatility of years gone by seems to have settled at least.

I have a large holding here for keeps and a smaller trading pot. Sadly, my GGP trading pot hasn't seen much activity of late!

MMs are able to "legally" naked short & very often do (they are particularly fond of naked shorting oil and mining stocks = fact :-(

The planets certainly seem to be aligning here:

1) Rio Tinto possible regional predator for Newcrest / GGP?
2) Newcrest accelerated drill program & positive PR mentions of Havieron prospect... initial results excellent... more news imminent.
3) GGP proving up "several" prospects - some with potential tier 1 potential (Havieron / Panorama / Black Hills / Scallywag / Firetower)
4) Fully funded exploration well into next year with newcrest funding drilling at Havieron.
5) Potential further partnership funding if results from other prospects look equally promising.
6) Rising commodity price and growing market appetite for gold in times of uncertainty.

In the absence of any buy-in's from Lucky Lucan, I think shareholders here should vote for an Extraordinary General Meeting and insist that the BOD are now paid ONLY in shares until they meet significant performance targets.
This would:
A) Alleviate any pressure for another placing.
&
B) Truly align our BOD with the interests of shareholders.

All resources shares are undervalued currently and have been for SOME time! Looking forward to a market change in sentiment as it would certainly help my share folio right now!

Whilst no silver bullet, a share buy-back would be very effective IMHO. I mentioned before... buying back and selling slowly into the rise - once the SP has stabilised. This way we're "realistically" only talking about tying up some capital for a few months max.

It's the message of confidence that counts right now and clearly would lead to profit in the medium time anyway... so all good IMHO.

The only time a buy-back would fail or be detrimental IMHO is if it were used to prop up a failing business... and clearly BUR is just about as far away from failing by every known market metric measure available right now.

Nevertheless I respect your opinion. I think this is a judgement call for the BOD which clearly they have considered.

If Saltfleetby money is now ringfenced (and if the OGA have any common sense they will INSIST ON IT with ANGS!) then you can guarantee that Lucan will be handing round the hat (yet again) in a few months time.

They don't need to commit anywhere near the full 10% available to make an "unequivocal" statement to investors / shorters and the market as a whole.

Must say... I am truly knocked by Lucky Lucan's performance so far...

Takes a lot of skill to wipe out 90% of a share's value in the space of six months... wonder what he's got planned for an encore?

I guess he'll buy in himself after the next placing... or maybe never?

Laughable really - when you look at most AIM shares (i.e: dilution after dilution through placings / loss making / unstable political jurisdictions / untested new technology or unproven resources ) ...

and here we have BUR, a profitable - dividend paying - professional company with a solid trading history over many years being touted to be as unstable as all the rest!?!?!?!

Give me a break ;-)

Value is value - even the shorters and traders know this... just a question of when that "true value" is priced back in by the market... in the meantime, happy to sit on my hands and let the children play :-)

Sadly, whichever way you look at this... current shareholders are going to see yet more dilution - long before they'll see anything that looks remotely like a profit!

He may have had far more money invested in The Weald "Story" than many here; if so... he's probably still licking his wounds!
On the face of it... he always sounded sincere and genuine to me.
