Could be the Friday sell off... sometimes happens / sometimes doesn't. Could also be the shorts pushing for a lower closure on larger volume before buy back. Doesn't change the investment case here IMHO and next week I have every confidence we will be much much higher again.
I've just added another few thousand... not concerned in the slightest :-)

Another example... (no longer around) was Virgin Money... always an excellent trading share due to the shorters - who were forever challenging the companies claims... up until the time it was bought out at a premium of course! LOL :-)

I NEVER go short personally, but understanding the mind-set and playing the game by their rules is the only way to "consistently" make money on stocks these days.
It used to be that you could do your research... buy in and come back a year down the line to count your profit.. those days are long gone!

Shorters invariably prefer to work shares that have underlying value (despite being dented temporarily by bad press or spurious claims) because they can not only ride to profit as the SP crashes, but they know when they sell back into the market and go long... they get a free bonus ride all the way back up again. Big institutional shorters play this game all the time. For instance: they've been playing the same game on IQE for as long as I have been trading there.

I've built up a holding here and trade 30% - 40% of that holding daily on the spikes. Never caught the absolute top... or the absolute bottom yet... but been close on a few days.
Trying to maintain a larger holding just in case an RNS lands and we head skyward to where we should be right now over £10 at least IMHO.
That's why the shorts like this share... they know it has great upside for when they buy back fully!

Bun fight for stock at 2.30pm as usual I expect... then the climb back up again. Get in now whilst the price is low :-)

Hit the nail on the head there IMHO... far and away the most likely "speculative" outcome. Certainly the reason I am invested here and have also added in recent weeks.

First week in September IMHO for the news we are all patiently waiting for.

Regardless of some of the accusations leveled at Burford or subsequent changes within the company... the fact still remains that the company is - and has consistently been - profitable & dividend paying over a number of years. Don't forget: BUR are still a successful market leading business.

The only reason the SP has stalled so far is because "right now" BUR is a day trader's dream and also the shorters are clinging on and trying to exit with a profit...

Given time... IMHO, I think this company still offers one of the safest routes to short / medium term profit in the market right now.

As with all trades... got to buy in at the right level to make profit. Just as the day traders are trying to do here. My point was: there are other easier ways to trade.

But not ALL AIM companies have lost over 90% of their value over the last 6 months and still have serially inept management at the helm ;-)

None of us want that Ocelot...

But the reality is - as Ja51 - has already pointed out: we have hardly any meaningful income and a lot of ongoing costs. No short term profitable prospects for Saltfleetby, Balcombe or Brockham mean that the money we do have will quickly evaporate and need replenishing... Fact!

Based on their current record, Charlie, I would say "caution" should be ANGS new watchword! Maybe they could stamp it on Tideswell's forehead - in case he forgets (again) Doh!

Placing September / October latest IMHO - necessitated by their GREAT future plans for Saltfleetby and blamed on the "nasty" OGA... who are insisting they (ANGS - the ever trustworthy, professionals) put aside more money as a safeguard... Really? The cheek of it!

It's coming... you just wait and see!

No mention of Saltfleetby costs for planning / testing in there either. We all know another placing is coming... just a question of when?

Just some published figures and a good calculator ;-) been 90% accurate in the past using my method. 7.90 is my best guess... may be a little higher. Won't know current value just yet as the reports are delayed by three days.

Convinced they would have closed out by now... they are "obviously" trying to wring out a profit here... but not looking promising FOR THEM... too sad :-(
