Pat, the shorts increased when the price was in the 20s. They've increased again now but it could be to average down and not necessarily because they believe a bid won't be accepted or forthcoming.

James, when some posters state a bid of 60p will be made I'm not going say nothing.

I think someone else mentioned this a few days ago but the Middle East and in particular Saudi Arabia is spending eye watering amounts on various infrastructure and development projects such as Neom and the Red Sea Project. These are projected to cost well in excess of $1TR. With all this potential work it would make sense for Sidara to acquire WG and the amount that they pay now would be dwarfed by the projects they could bid for in the next decade.

Sidara will try to get the best price they can for WG. They've announced their interest in acquiring WG again because they believe they can get WG for a lot less than 6 months ago. No one is disputing that but they're also realistic. They know an offer of 60-80p won't be entertained by the Board. That's why I think it will be far less than they proposed 6 months ago but considerably more than 60-70p. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough but it's pointless speculating about something we have no control over.

It's pointless looking at the share price to provide an indication of what Sidaras offer may be. Sidara will make a bid based on what they value the company not on the current share price which as everyone knows is temporarily low.

Does anybody honestly think WG would accept an offer or even entertain one for 60p after effectively turning one down for £2+ 6 months ago? Just shows some people are clueless.

Which RNS? The one that said Sidara may buy WG with all cash offer?

🥕 it's obvious why the SP is where it is currently at. It has minimal bearing on how much Sidara will hopefully offer for.

Sidara are looking to buy the whole company not parts thereof.

The fact that the SP isn't climbing to say within 50% of what some feel to be the potential bid price is more indicative of the volatile SP history of the last 4 months than IIs being unconvinced of a bid north of £1. Add to this that any bid may end up being rejected or not made at all then the current SP isn't unreasonable in fact i would consider it quite prudent. However, to use the current SP figure to value a potential offer and ignore the fundamentals is inaccurate.

And yet they've come back...

Johny, agree to an extent but WG isn't in the dire straits some have made it out to be either. Debt is expected to remain the same as last year. The review which is almost complete won't have a material impact on the groups cash position and we're expected to be FCF positive next year. Let's see what happens but 60p seems very low.

Noggers, it hasn't even been 48 hours since news of Sidaras interest. A little more patience required. Sidara are clearly interested in pursuing a deal and WG seems to be far more amenable this time to an offer. A few more days and news should start filtering through and the SP will rise.
