Hi R, a very good question. Has it indeed always been so? Are we just so much more aware of it thanks to social media? I don't really know, yet somehow I just believe that it wasn't always so. Call me na�ve yet, irrespective of personal political affiliation, I just cannot see the likes of Attlee or Chamberlain or Macmillan or Gaitskell in the same light as today's thoroughly seedy bunch. Thanks, R. I recall some similar confusion with Barclays last time there was an RI. Still, at least I've got until December 2019 to sort this out. If the last episode is a precedent, the whole thing might unfortunately be academic! How many of us subscribed to an RI at 60, thinking that options at 100 two whole years later would be a banker???!!!

In connection with the recent Rights Issue, can those of you who understand these things please explain for me the situation with regard to the attaching options. I have just checked my investment and ISA accounts with Barclays to make sure that the RI shares I subscribed for have been credited, which they have. But, unlike previous RIs, there is no mention on the accounts of the consequent options. I checked the wording of the RNS which announced the RI and it has left me puzzled. It said... "Each Eligible Shareholder is entitled to subscribe for Two (2) New Shares for every Three (3) Existing Shares which the Shareholder holds, together with One (1) free attaching New Option (exercise price �0.40 and expiry 31 December 2019) for every Five (5) New Shares subscribed for. The New Options will be unlisted and no application will be made for them to be admitted to trading on AIM or any other stock exchange". It seems to be saying there will be options, but you won't be able to do anything with them!!! Ugh???

Yes, I concur with Samson too. As I mentioned before, I'm one of those with no more cash to put in, because I've just moved home and I'm having lots of work done which is just hemorrhaging cash at the moment. This RI couldn't have come at a worse time for me. Even so, I took up over 30,000 of my entitlement, which was over 40,000, so there's at least one small shareholder here who thought it was a good opportunity.

I'm hoping that the wording about the planning determination - "now expected as early as possible in 2018" - indicates that the answer to the slight ambiguity about whether "site visit and hearing" from the previous RNS meant the actual-decision making meeting, is now more certainly "Yes". I don't think that anyone would reasonably call March - the date of the next proper, scheduled Board meeting - "as early as possible".
