They are moving into digital and are looking to create an ecosystem.

Frasers goods could be sold for example through Debenhams. Could BH products perhaps be sold through Frasers. There are all sorts of possibilities for a decent tie ins.

I think this is a strategic alliance by MA - he's not going to want to buy every online company out there but this is a diversification and future proofing by Frasers by investing in online rather than being in just bricks and mortar.

I’m not an industry expert. But we do know from BH, Asos, etc, about real fast fashion margins. We know from ABF who own Primark that pile em high and sell them dirt cheap doesn’t work for online delivery due to the last mlle.

So the question then becomes Sheins USP is that they are exporting from China which allows them to avoid vat, gst, etc and presumably some import duties. But the knock affect to this is long lead times (like BH is USA) poor returns policy, etc.

If they list on the NASDAQ they will have to be fully transparent and will have to conform with western corporate governance compliance. The bonnet will be well and truly opened and we can all take a look inside.

Regarding your china point - it’s very difficult to access information on Chinese companies. We have argued this point before but it seems to have gone in one ear and out the other.

I’d look at their website, their products, materials, place of manufacture, export process, etc, etc. I’d some work on their overhead base, where they are likely to paying their taxes, wage rates, etc.

Then I’d try and figure out their margin and whether their volumes would allow them to actually make any money.

If I was in the industry it would guesswork based on expertise. Analysts might be able to get reasonably close.

I remember that - the share was on a downtrend after another negative slave try article and think the auditors resigned at the same time. It stopped the rot at that point. It was only a tickle - not exactly a strategic investment.

No it is a much bigger more diversified company with many different brands, customer segments and therefore income streams, high quality assets and top of the line automated technology. Plus a whole US market that it can now efficiently service.
