Well looking at your posts you mostly come on to argue with people. At least I try and contribute with relevant well thought out content, even if you don’t agree with me. Kinda what discussion boards are all about eh?

I don’t spend long on here at all.

Have a flick on here every now and again and comment if I feel it’s worthwhile.

I’ve had shares suspended before but not in these circumstances, sanctions, war, etc. This is a truly unique situation in my experience.

I mentioned on previous occasions that I’m not a holder. Might jump up in on good trading update and end of suspension if the fundamentals look in tact, which is the million dollar question.

I can’t believe more people are not here watching this with fascination.

This is an extraordinary situation and important for my knowledge on investment risks. Knowledge is power, etc, etc.

It’s not the listing that is important but where the registered office is.

The company is registered in UK.

The problems will arise with any Russian registered subsidiaries and getting hold of any cash that might be sitting in Russian banks.

Plus if Putin brings in any tit for tat regulations against foreign companies operating in Russia.

I posted over the weekend that the oligarchs have done every thing possible to move money out of Russia - this is why.

I don’t see a brass plaque in Russia being in the slightest bit attractive.

While Russia might be an energy powerhouse they are certainly not a financial powerhouse - if they were they would have never been sanctioned by the west.

Exposure to Russia across the board seems to very limited so far outside of energy, oil, etc.

Anyway more to the point the oligarchs have done everything they can to take their money out of Russia so the Moscow exchange might not be the natural bedfellow, and if it did go there they could probably wave goodbye to any future funding from the international (western) financial institutions.

It’s the Russian banks that have been sanctioned by the UK and EU that are the problem and the presumed tit for tat response from VP when it comes to letting capital leave Russia for the UK and EU.

Plus the coupon payment didn’t leave without issues - it was blocked to start with.

VP is playing silly beggears with oil and gas payments by refusing to accept anything but Roubels (against the agreed contract terms), he’s recently tried to pay their government bond payment in Roubles rather than the denominated USD. We’re moving unto protectionism now and I don’t think this is going to end when the war does.

We are at the start of a new Cold War era.

I reckon you’ll probably need to open a Russian bank account possibly in Roubles. I think they’ll want to stop the flow of capital out of Russian banks. I think they’ve recently tried to pay down government USD debt in Roubles but the payment was rightly rejected.

Credit Suisse operate all over the world, like all the major investment banks.

The Russians clearly hold their shares with them in nominee accounts.

I’m pretty sure it was credit Suisse who were left holding the baby when all the Archegos Capital stuff happened last year.

Only one declared short position from what I can see.

I dodged a bullet with ADV, literally a week before as I needed some cash and decided ADV was the one to go.

I’d sussed the goings on at SYME after six months or so bailed after they came back out of suspension. So looking at the price now I did well to get out in the mid 0.30s albeit at a smallish loss.

I did come out of SNG on the vaccine announcements but then got back in cheap and added whenever it had significant dips. Thought it was going to be the golden goose of the covid stocks. They’ve still got cash so it will be interesting to see what they do with it.

I never traded it just bought and held and waited. Luckily I never have all my eggs in the one basket. I’m not selling though and will leave it in my portfolio as a reminder never to over expose on AIM! Cut my holdings right back as well from over twenty to eleven plus crypto and a couple of CFDs to trade with.

If you look at how Crypto behaves during moves in interest rates and inflation it’s moving like a growth tech stock. It even gained recently on the Nasdaq rally then dropped back down with it.
If you learn how the macro works there’s decent money to be made or at the very least protect what you have. I started moving into Glencore and Rio Tinto in the second half of last year and then at the start of this year virtually moved completely into boring FTSE value stocks like MNG and FRES and I’m holding up pretty well, now in profit for the year.

I think once the inflation calms down they’ll be massive gains on growth stocks, if you look how the Nasdaq fell after the 99 tech bubble it was like death by a thousand cuts over two or three years before the bottom was found.

The suspension is purely RA related. Nothing to do with anything else. A good q1 helps cements the rationale behind the governments decision to sanction.

Hi deepdive - with regards to this why would this be? Surely the suspension is a direct result of RA sanctions. Until the sanctions are lifted I’m not so sure things will change here. In fact a decent update with a strong Q1 performance would add fuel to the fire given how much would accrue to RA and the controlling members.

Yep - he’s looking at the wider macro picture which is the dominant force at the moment. High inflation, high interest rate environment is murder or btc which is behaving like a NASDAQ stock rather then a hedge against inflation.

There is going to be a time when ARB will be a very attractive buy in the future but I don’t think that will be in Q2 now, maybe not even H2 if the FED and the markets are talking up six more rate hikes this year as well as inflation heading for 10% and showing no signs of easing.

However excellent conditi9ns for trading this so money to be made if you can time it right.
