I think what happened here was a mix of an enthusiastic CEO selling to an enthusiastic audience at a time when a lot of people were getting into investing who didn’t/don’t really understand what they are doing fuelled by the whole meme stock/lockdown/market bounce back movement.

It’s not just ARB there were loads of overhyped stocks at the time that have gone on to be dreadful for shareholders - SYME, GGP, HE1, SNG, CBX and the list goes on.

I’ve been burnt myself on some of them and have been virtually wiped out on SNG, now 90% down.

It’s dodgy ground when public companies can not report at their own choosing without good reason. It undermines the integrity of the markets.

Unless there are extraordinary circumstances all companies should report. It’s that simple, all in my opinion of course.

He’ll have money all over the world. No one really has an idea how much money he has, only what’s on the public record.

Why do you think these companies are not reporting then? I’m sure it’s not because things are rosey in the garden ….

Surely the reason all these companies are not reporting or are maintaining silenced is that to so so would be an absolute disaster. The Russian domestic market is in turmoil and the Rouble has been decimated. Overseas western customers will have walked away on the hope that the gaps will be filled by the Indians, Chinese, etc, who will be hunting for a bargain.

Their job is simply to apply the rules that have been set.

The FCA is independent of government.

To my knowledge there is no such thing as a non voting share - in my experience they always nearly rank pari passu in the UK.

Slight change with some of the new IPOs allowing founder shares for the firms like Deliveroo more in line with the USA but this gives them enhanced voting rights.

Bruce how would one go about buying a share that didn’t have the original voting rights attached and more importantly why would you? Especially given how many large organisations shares are scooped up by the institutions who want to exercise power over the companies.

Hi Office Manager. It’s more about how the EU and North America have turned their backs on any trade remotely to do with Russia. This movement post dates the dividend cancellation announcement when they said all was good. Whether you can trade or not surely it’s important that shareholders know how the company is standing up. Especially given most of the board have resigned. The majority shareholders most likely have bigger fish to fry at the moment, etc, etc.

How in times of such uncertainty can you be so dis-interested in how trading is going on the basis that the market isn’t open? I find that comment flabbergasting. The fundamentals are the reason we invest right?

No one has any clue what role RA is playing in the talks or what he is even doing there. I think if he’s pro Ukrainian he’s be dead in a suitcase, dodgy sushi, etc, etc.

Only shares held in a margin account can be used for shorting.

Shares held in a custody account cannot be lent out by your broker.

You’ve just got to think of how shares and voting operate transactional.

The shorter will have to pay the dividend but that would be to put the lender right. It won’t actually be the dividend paid because that would have been paid to the new holder.

I haven’t seen it suggested anywhere that Evraz is a ‘criminal organisation’.

I’d expect this guidance to be very much out of date. I think you would have to be in cloud cuckoo land not to think that western customers haven’t reappraised how much product they are buying from Russian companies.

The company really need to update the market labour in respect of trading imo.
