Post war the relationship with Russia and its oligarchs will be completely reset and will never be the same again.

I’m comfortable with my investment here it’s been a rollercoaster tide through. Was initially well up early 2021 and then heavily down so bailed out. Managed to buy back in around the last raise so am now comfortably in 45% profit.

Here for the very long term as I think the concept is great and if proven in monetary terms makes this significantly undervalued. Good way to potentially play the meter verse as well.

I’ll certainly be buying more but on the way up.

How can the voting rights stay with the lender?

When stocks are loaned out the shorter opens their position by selling them on the open market so surely the voting rights go to whoever buys the shares from the shorter.

The lender surely doesn’t receive those rights back until they are returned by the shorter after they have closed their position by purchasing them back again, presumably on the open market.

Yeah you would think in a global scale the sporting season should be spread out. In the USA the NFL season only runs Sep to Feb which I think is the big meat but even so.

It’s the tech and potential of the synergised business that’s the story here. The shops can be gradually unwound.

Jezzahold - Apologies I was very dramatic in my use of language! I meant that operationally the holding is worthless as they have relinquished their seats on the board.

The shares do of course have a market/fair value.

BP haven’t offloaded it. They have effectively written it off in their accounts and relinquished the seats they were entitled to on the board.

They now have no control in the decision making process so their holding, from an accounting point of view, is now worthless. Coincidentally this is the same argument Evraz are making in terms of RA not exercising control as he doesn’t appear to have ever installed the directors he’s entitled to.

Iodan - Russian in terms of the Russian majority contingent, not the whole of Russia. Surely you can take it in the context of the topic without getting all triggered!

Every western multi national company is distancing them self from Russia. Our actions are not in isolation. The world over is spreading themselves.

We have decades long experience of hosting multi national companies with no bother. This is an extreme circumstance.

Are you honestly telling me that if this delists companies like BP, HSBC, Rio, etc, will consider re-listing?

Only if you confuse everyday Russians with Putin and the obligarchs.

Iodan- I’d agree with you if this was happening to a run of the mill company. This is a special case in extreme circumstances. If they just booted say Aviva off the exchange then you would have a point.

I don’t think it’s going to undermine the UK as a financial hub one bit. We might not receive as much Russian money or ill gotten gains but that’s by design.

Iodan - I don’t think Russians are bad. I actually feel sorry for them as they have been caught up in the wrong doings of the leaders and obligarchs.

Once this realists folk are going to pile in, what matters though is how current trading is going.

That depends on your view on whether you consider it ‘without reason’. I cannot for the life of me see a UK judge backing that stance. Minority shareholders are cannon fodder here drowned by the problems surrounding the big meat.

No MP is going to put their neck on the line as it would look like they are siding with the obligarchs. Plus the optics of backing wealthy minority shareholders at a time when the cost of living crisis is talking hold of the bulk of the voting populous, not good.

Semantics …. Until a month or so ago it was a ftse100 company and I’m sure you know what I meant!

As far as I am aware there is not another FTSE100 company where such a large amount of power is concentrated in such a small number of Russian hands.
