if anyone has info on how these things work but i would have expected Morgan Stanley to be buying shares in the 10,000's rather than dribs and drabs, ie 1, 33, 148, etc. when i buy through II i put in an order for say 10,000 and i get a price and i buy or not. Are MS just buying what comes available on the market at whatever price ? if they did 80 transactions yesterday (i havent counted them all) that would have cost say at least £ 1000 in charges when they could have bought them probably in 3/4 lots or so ? as i said i dont know how these share buy backs work but it looks like a very piecemeal way of doing so.

the last couple of days would have been ideal buy back opps for the Co to get them at a marginally lower price than before but they bought 68k yesterday. they should have bought 250k yesterday and today imo

dont get your hopes up too quickly, the legal profession works slower at this time of year. i think it is a mid January refund to CNE and then it is anyones guess re divi/buyback. remember it takes 3 days to clear a chq !

for CNA to come out and play the stable, dependable, not at risk of going bust, etc energy supplier to the UK market, not to price gouge but to get customers back buying their products, whether it is energy supply, homecare cover, HIVE, etc. make the business(es) profitable or even more so, build the B/s and start dividends after results next year. they could get back to 100+ if they can get the investors to buy into the story.

which Monday would that be ? the first one after h*ll freezes over ?

i dont think we will ever see that level being achieved unless they do a 2 for 1 share consolidation (or make it 3 for 1) or a T/O from a oil major

good article but did you not read it ? the refund will only be paid once CNE withdraw all legal claims globally - estimated to be 3 to 4 weeks, ie Xmas and then no doubt a bit of delay until new year while the special tax refund pen is looked for and found ! this ia a Q1 2022 refund/receipt/dividend/buyback timing, when in Q1 - who knows.

the thing is, until India funds are agreed to be paid over, it's difficult to attack it. if the 5% chance is that it will not go ahead for whatever reason, 180 might be a pipe dream. i hope it is just that and 225+ is well within reach.

they maybe ramping up exploration/production in Egypt to take advantage of gas prices. its got to be cheaper than NS exploration ?

i think that's a mix and match approach. i reckon they will pay the special divi as soon as they are able to to placate the large shareholders (and small) alike and to complete the share buy back as outlined. no doubt a transaction is lined up with the majority of the remaining cash.

although marginal, that's 10m shares less to get the special divi !

all good news in my view, keep the buyback going for a while to support the SP

sounds like step 6 out of 20 on their checklist, etc. also sounds like funds will be received close to Xmas/New Year if all goes well. INR was 99.53 on Friday, it's 99.63 now, much better than the 103 it was trading at in September/October. could we break 200 soon ?

the real time SP's are not updating as they used to for the last 2 days and i'm not going to keep refreshing all the time !

is coming fast. i had though of selling at 65 but with a lack of opps elsewhere i might hold for a bit longer

that's not how it works. firstly there is no point in Carlyle building up a stake unless it is to thwart a rival bid. they can only go up to 29.9% without triggering a formal bid for the remaining shares. the price is the highest that Carlyle have paid for any shares ( i assume in the last 12 months) not the market price in the last 12 months.

below 100, no doubt it improves the final £/$ received if it happens in the very near future.

The Cumbrian, i guesttimated that the SP would be around that level in the near term. the tax refund is c $ 1.06bn, ~ £ 780m ish, so about £ 1.56 per share at present. the dividend is 72p ish when the BoD announce it so the rest will remain as cash reserves pre share buyback.
