sorry, have to edit my numbers, major shareholdings are 215.54m shares and 66.45% of the company, so only 33.55% held by others.

i've assumed anyone who had a shareholding pre TO took the % TO to reduce their shareholdings + then amended the post TO RNS notifications to get to todays assumed list.

On 01/04/22, the major shareholders were as per CNE website, 8 shareholders > 3%, totalling 237.64m shares (out of 495.573m issued) ~ 47.95% of the company.

as per today, taking into account the RNS's for shareholdings, the TO shares of 171.073m and the share buyback of 148,731 shares, there are 11 major shareholders with 201.678m shares ~ 62.179% of the company.
as i said, i ve assumed the major shareholders took the TO %age reduction - this might not be the case - but until notified, it sort of shows that for the company to buy back roughly 21% of the shares, there's only 37.8% which are not held by major shareholders.

i'm going to keep a list updated from their 1st April list on the website and RNS's on shareholdings to see whats going on ! it'll keep me amused for the time being !

afaik the TO docs did not mention a floor or ceiling, maybe MS are working on the previous buy back guideline for the time being to snap up shares below 200 when in fact there is no ceiling for buying and they are keeping the SP depressed as the market knows no buy back above 200 is taking place ? imo and what do i know !

the CNE site has a list of major SH's as at 1st April, it will be interesting to see one post TO, etc to see who is in there now.

so Barclays and MS have taken decent %ages over the last few days but BlackRock reduced their SH ?

respectively 0 to 6.45%, 0 to 7.25% and 8.17% to 6.84% - interests in financial instruments.

just from experience with ii, its normally a day after the date that cash tfrs are done from company transactions. i cant vouch for all the other platforms. they said if it was by certificate, then it would be a chq on the 19th.

Whitehat, i think the BoD are being led by MS and those ultra know it alls NM Rothschild. a $ 200m share buy back you say, nigh on impossible for a company of this size and number of shares in the market. they had various options open to them and they picked the difficult ones. i'm not sure who's benefit they did it for, i think it has confused a number of smaller shareholders - you just need to read some of the posts on this forum - some are still waiting for a divi to be announced. AGM on 11th May, we all know it will achieve practically nothing, apart from 2 x Exec directors patting each other's back, and making sure their bonuses and further bonus shares are signed up. imo, they should stop any further exploration, they never hit anything but sparkling water, they should farm them out and keep a carried interest and either buy up decent reserves from other oilers or return serious cash via divi to shareholders.

should have also said out of 325m shares left after the TO, so 21.85% of the shares in the company. you might as well just ask the biggest shareholders and ask what price are they willing to sell at.

$ 200m ~ £ 152.7m @ £ 2.15 (say) per share = 71m shares. how are MS going to find 71m shares to buy back ? whether it is over 3m/6m or 2 years, that is some task.

there's always a chance of a Takeover if you have assets that someone wants or at an extreme if your shares are cheap enough but i cant see that with CNE over a 12m time horizon. MS are probably in it for the long haul, Egypt production and cashflow, deferred payments out of Senegal and NS, with cash still in the company. personally i can see this getting to 250ish if POO remains at a highish level for 22 and 23 but in my view, the co needs to ramp up production and stop exploring and wasting cash as they never find anything of note, except for Rajastan (if they found that ?). why not just buy a few tiddlers with proven reserves, CHAR comes to mind (yes, i have a shareholding there) which is undervalued imo, i'm sure there are others under scrutiny.

CW, see it this way, you hold the same number of shares as before the TO, if you did not tender any shares or have any accepted for the TO, you actually own more of the company than you did before, ie previously it was out of 495.6m shares but now it is out of 324.5m shares (rounded) and any Profits (!) the co make and its net assets will improve your holding and hopefully the divis going forward ! i think we are all just flabbergasted at the SP drop today but with any luck it will be 230+ soon enough imo.

there was only going to be one if the $ 500m was not taken up int he TO and as per todays TO RNS, it has been taken up.

you keep saying 29 March, you do know that date has gone dont you ? i also thought the GM was on 11th May ?

ehrm, there is no divi unless you are thinking of one after the interims or finals for the year ? even then i would put that down as no more than 25% probability imo
