Right, would be great if Putin agrees to Trump's cease-fire. No-one's asked Zelensky yet or involved him in the discussions, so I guess no-one will be expecting Ukraine to cease fire too, eh?

The foolishness was on Trump's part - rushing in with no plan, no negotiating mandate, no security guarantees to offer, and no agreement with those he will ultimately leave with the job of defending a cease-fire, the EU. Let's just hope this goes better than his Costa Genocide Gaza Beach and Golf Resort plan...

I guess you didn't hear (not surprising due to the near media black-out from the Paris meeting yesterday) that the EU aren't being "bounced" into anything. Without agreement on deployment of some kind of common peace-keeping force - which Trump explicitly says won't involve US troops - there won't be any meaningful ceasefire.

Yeah, I mean if you're looking for a quick spike in the FXPO price, a 'ceasefire' will probably do. If you're looking for the medium-long term benefits of the company getting back to full operations, Ukrainian reconstruction, higher profits and a multi-bagger SP, then you'd better start listening to Zelensky and the EU leaders who, as you may not have noticed seeing as it's barely been reported in the media, are not at all in agreement about what the EU's role would be in providing the necessary guarantees of a meaningful cease-fore and progress on peace.

THG in the Supreme Court in case relating to corporate mis-governance and cronyism (lol, who'd have thought it...?) should surely be enough to set the algos selling. But if understand correctly, the remedy sought in the original (successful) Zedra Vs THG case could only have been around £1.9 million, though maybe I misunderstand this.

The concern I have is that the Saudi talks are a sign of there being a lot LESS going on than meets the eye; a lot less in D Trump's head, that is. His modus operandi is firing from the hip, not considering, not consulting, not having a strategy, not foreseeing the full consequences, thinking only of his personal glory. As Zelensky said very clearly in Munich, Trump and his friend Putin can talk about whatever they like, but it'll have no bearing on what happens in Ukraine until such time as Ukraine and Europe is involved.

It's very much "ours to reason" who and why, seeing as it's our own national and personal security we're talking about. There has to be at least a 50% chance that Trump's already bodged and vainglorious intervention in Ukraine goes the same way as his shocking and insane Costa Genocide Gaza Resort plan.

There's a danger of it being an "interesting" time in the Chinese sense due to precisely that idiotic way of thinking. How can the EU be irrelevant if it has to provide the security guarantees and put the lives of hundreds of thousands of troops that will be required on the line in case Putin attacks again? Or what, in order to claim sole and vainglorious responsibility for a ceasefire, Trump will just take Putin's word for it that he won't attack again?

As a FXPO investor, I'd strongly advise extreme caution that what we get is some empty agreement that serves Trump's short-term purposes (his vanity) but leaves Ukraine critically vulnerable to a later and devastating attack.

I did read what you said, OSG, and the point is that "security guarantees" are probably the most important element to Ukraine - at this point even more so than territorial integrity - so as that will depend on the EU then the EU clearly needs to be involved. If for no other reason than, as I think the Swedish Foreign Minister pointed out, there has to be in turn some security guarantees (like US air power) for EU forces should they come under attack. Trump seems to have no interest or appreciation of this, though who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

@OSG - as was pointed out very well by more than one EU leader, if boots-on-the-ground security is going to be down to EU troops (which it will, seeing as Trump has abandoned us) then the EU absolutely has to be involved in the negotiations. They will never accept to be involved otherwise. And the criticism of Trump's handing on a plate of concessions before negotiations even start, was roundly criticised.

As one would expect, Trump's utterly incoherent, selfish and ignorant approach has already damned peace efforts to a bad start. Unless something changes, expect FXPO to head sharply downwards on Monday.

Hmm, well for those waiting on a Ukraine ceasefire somehow boosting EZJ (I don't particularly see it myself, though it'd be nice if it happened..) how about we get instead the deepening of the political chasm between the Trump shambolic administration and Europe, which is what they seem now to be aiming for?

Sure there's a risk there from the government being priced in. But I don't think the big buyers come in until there's a clear path to at least a cease-fire, right? And presumably, until that time, the algos have all got a -50%+ premium set on them because of the total loss war risk? Maybe we'll find out on Monday...
