China and Trump.11 Jan 2025 17:21
Considering we're were told, during the great Brexit war, that we must go forth and create new deals with the rest of the world - it's astonishing that the government's opposition has criticised that very notion, calling for Rachel Reeves to cancel her trip to China!
If Rachel Reeves' visit to China results in concrete outcomes, such as trade deals or improved market access, GSK could enhance its foothold in the region. However, these benefits hinge on the UK carefully navigating its geopolitical relationships, especially with the US. Trump’s influence, given his aggressive stance, could complicate matters. While GSK might secure incremental gains in China, it must act cautiously to protect its global position. Personally, considering the ongoing criticism of the UK government from figures like Musk within Trump’s circle, I hope Trump’s opinions are disregarded—despite any potential fallout.
