The Tory party is now unleadable - collectively out of ideas and clutching at straws. Moving away from the mayhem, in the real world, there is nothing to show after 12 years of Conservative policies oath than decay. Thatcherism had winners, mainly in the South of England, but Truss has trashed the whole of the UK. The centrality of Brexit to the story is now clear and has come home to roost.

Break out the tofu, and take a glass of organic wine.

One is of the view that the sp rise has diddly squat to do with the government's attempt to save their skins.

One wonders how many on here are having sleepless nights over their pension performance.
There seems to be a widespread assumption, amongst Tories and Ukippers, that the Conservatives will enjoy a polling bounce if they replace Truss.
Just as it was assumed for Truss replacing Johnson. But it seems likely that the damage to the party's reputation runs far deeper than the identity of its leader.
This mess has been years in the making.
It would be great if Hunt can reassure the markets. Unfortunately there’s a multitude of mismanagement to correct - and the Tories are a busted flush.

I don’t buy any of that for a minute - back then it truly was global forces at play. Now it’s self inflicted, without doubt. The Tory mantras of ‘There’s No Magic Money Tree’ ...and ‘unfunded borrowing’ is now making the Tories a complete laughing stock.

Besides, I vote for the Green Party.

One wonders how the markets will react tomorrow. Trickledown Trussononics has been a complete and utter disaster. The rot was setting in since Cameron & Osborne to be honest.

The last twelve years have surely put to bed the "we must pay more & get the very best people into politics" critique.
Kwartang, Johnson, Cameron, May, Truss, Redwood and Rees Mogg all went to the best universities, worked in blue chip companies and are awash with accolades.

They’ve damaged the country, which will take years and years to repair.

Any minute now, commentators will begin casting longing glances back at Boris Johnson as a lost leader of real substance, just like they did Theresa May.

And what no one will ask is why the Conservatives keep producing Prime Ministers of diminishing quality.
