Does anyone have any idea when Parliament will reconveine?

Agree they will fight the new legislation and delay that to delay the ratification, but lets hope not

JackB14, ballsy, wish I had more :) Been following this for 3 years, only thing I can see will stop it is if Chinese suddenly make an offer the govt cant refuse, legal or otherwise, so fairly confident this is going to happen once they have the rules of the game settled in the legislation they need to get through first

Your last comment, I beleive they will now bleed ALL to death, then take the licences back once in adminstration and sell to their friends in China, apart from the locals the govt can wait. This is doomed now I fear

I agree Longterm, I dont see this being ratified this session. They are using the law change 5-10% as a delaying tactic and public opinion wont let them do anything until this is changed. Given the amount of noise from everyone this is such a contentious contract that they are nervous to sign off. I hope I am wrong.....

Seem to remember the rules for RAT, parliament have 60 days to approve or reject once submitted, so we might have a wait yet.

Having followed yesterdays session, two things struck me from the majority leader. He seemed to be mocking the minority leader and said we have a majority so basically they will decide on the outcome. The second is that there will be a recommendation from the committee, either way the majority will decide if they can sell it to the public, so I think this will come down to a polictical decision rather than a a good or bad deal decision. Given that serious negotiations have been concluded I would be very surprised if the deal is not acceptable, otherwise why conclude the negotiations. The minister led these so would be a major problem for him. Anyhow hopefully we will see before Christmas! (2025)

My money is on once ratification has been completed, Assore or other big player will make a takeover bid as they will have the finacial and know how to make this happen quickly

Swest42, yes I think it will build slightly this week and early next and then drop back when they reveal they are no whare near signing it off. I am not expecting RAT until Dec, but just my guess
