45,000 dead is terrible. But nothing compared to the amount of suffering that will be caused through economic devastation. Why are so many countries refusing to lockdown again if it was such a great idea?

PHE figures - 22,000 die of the flu every year, would you lockdown for that too?

Up to the age of 60 a healthy adult has a 99.99% of surviving covid. 60-69 a healthy adult has a 99.98% change of surviving covid!! (Stockholm university)

A full Lockdown was the stupidest gov policy I have seen since the iraq invasion. Boris didn’t want to lockdown initially - but attention seeking Ferguson with his 500,000 will die this year stat made everyone cr*p their pants. Then he broke his own rules for a bit of jiggy jiggy & was fired.

Absolutely agree Paddy. Was in the Apple store London earlier as Mrs wanted something - the assistant got into a moan about masks and I said it’s all stupid and blown out of proportion - he didn’t like that and replied “guess you don’t know anyone who’s died then” - I said I’ve lost 4 family members in the past 30 months (including my father) - ALL non-covid related. People die, it’s sad but there has to be a common sense approach. I then asked if he’d lockdown the nation every year to prevent deaths from the Flu (22,000 PHE figures) - people always seem baffled when you put that to them. Idiots.

Blown completely out of proportion. Neil furgeson initially estimated 500,000 deaths in 2020 from COVID in the U.K., and 100,000 deaths in Sweden if they didn’t lock down.

How many deaths did Sweden end up happening? How much better off are they & their economy by the fact they did NOT follow that silly advise.

Icing on the cake was when Neil had to resign due to him breaking the rules HE SET!! Complete and utter JOKE. Boris has it right the first time when he said no lockdown.
Economy is in ruins, will be no funding for the NHS if we continue down this road. ~ 3 months of lockdown and now cases rising, so it didn’t work did it?

Up to the age of 50 you are more likely to die from an accident or injury (not car accident, ANY accident) than covid.

Should’ve shielded the vulnerable and cracked on. Don’t like Trump - but he has a point - lockdowns are useless, people die - it’s very sad - but what’s worse is people dying AND ruining the world for DECADES!

If you are an investor - almost *all* fund managers advice against selling and rebuying - the best 2 weeks of a market follow the worst period - and NO ONE can call it right for certain. It is YOUR flawed understanding of investing which is to blame for why the AVERAGE RI does worse - (much, much worse) than the overall markets - because they buy and sell buy and sell. Learn the difference between trading and investing. Go and read up. I bought IAG at 212. Quite a big chunk, after the first crash - people like you stood there laughing as it fell to 159....then shot up almost in no time to 360. I sold at 313p. Guess what? Those on the sidelines screaming 80p next missed out on a ~50% gain in 4 weeks.

Don’t blame you mate. I sold out @62p. And then traded it for a couple of days between 59-61p. I’m done with CINE, lost a few k in there in the past 6 months.

NEX seems a decent punt - got in low 120’s. But diversified the portfolio, no kids (yet), but need to protect the Ferrari fund haha.

(Never held tech, bought £1k of Apple just because why not - 5 minutes later it starts to drop, 24 hours later it’s ~15% down hahaha. Can you believe the timing? I mean, it did make me giggle. Thankfully no big punt just thought I’d dip the toes, great white took one clean off immediately !)

Chaps who have been in here for a while. Would you happen to know typical volumes traded? I note it is around 1 mil today - is that the average ballpark figure over the past few months?

Having bought in yesterday in the low 120’s - I knew it may dip Friday with profit taking & long US weekend ahead. But at the same time, it could be a 10% day and then you’re left out into the weekend! 5k shares isn’t the biggest position, and it was deliberate. In the unlikely event it dips back into the 90’s I’ll fire in another 5k worth of shares.

Going into a recession - cheap domestic travel will be on the up! If only we could find a CEO haha.

Morocco - cheap busses are what the majority use.
US - love their road trips
UK - slowly opening up
Spain - the one question mark entity.

Of course all of the above is assuming no second wave / lockdown - where all bets are off re the markets. However, way things are going, ftse could go to all time highs after second lockdown announcement haha.

Recent broker forecasts do state “oversold” and the target prices are actually big increases from where we are at the moment.

“Placing at 230p 20% dilution”....? Could you expand on that

Bought 5k shares today @122p. Think it’s a good price for a solid company.

Still trying to figure out why the price is lingering around the 120p Mark now - when things are opening up and NEX seem to have cut down their costs.

Haha purchase, I deserved that. Though, if the automatic sell couldn’t catch it - my chubby fingers would definitely struggle! Would’ve accidentally pressed but at 65p lol

I must admit, I bought 20,000 more shares at 60p. Went to sleep, set the automatic sell for 65 on those 20k shares. Woke up saw it had hit 65 then dipped, checked my acc - no sell :(. It was at 65 for too brief a moment .....end of trading career. Back to investing hehe
