More jam ..... tomorrow. I still have faith in this one especially given the ongoing mine development. Maybe the production will ramp up in time to catch soaring gold prices.

I am afraid that market sentiment is against us. I don't know why and it seems very strange. Gold seems to get lumped into general mining which it shouldn't be and they have had a bit of a torrid time of it with many investors and funds getting out of them in case prices plunge. Todays RNS shows steady progress on the management side with Gold Ridge being concentrated on by Mark Caruso so this should fastrack the project.

Thanks for the link. Always take Winnersh with a pinch of salt especially as he's not so bouncy as he was probably because his gold investments have taken a hammering. Nevertheless agree with his sentiments. This is the time to hang in with gold, I am glad he had a good word for Arian one of my investments which no matter what good news they come up with fails set the SP alight. As Tom says sentiment is against us but with gold still rising and the world in chaos it can't last indefinitely. VGM will come back again, of that I am sure. GL

Been out of this share since consolidation (sold on the basis that IME consolidation invariably disappoints in the short term) kept out but continue to follow with interest. Not sure when to get back in but feel pretty disappointed by the turn of events so far this year. Still confident that it will come right in the end. How long no one knows but at least investors know that the gold is there, good management, compliant workforce (at the moment) and a long history of gold mining so must come good (eventually). IMO the gold price is set to stay above $1500 for some time yet and although not a cheap producer an alternative source of cheaper power has to be part of the answer. GLA

Yes I can see that market cap is low but that is the case with much of the market, especially AIM. I would favour the latter and directors buying is always a good sign that something is coming up. IMO although I know nothing about the sector I would have thought that low valuations are the ideal time for buy-outs and consolidatoins in any sector although raising the capital to do so is always a challenge nowadays. It does surprise me in general that takeovers right now seem to be at an all-time low but maybe this will change in the future once we get a dose of inflation and they will soon be back in fashion (especially now that the commodity and mining bubbles look about to burst). There are so many opportunities for predatory bids given these low valuations but I guess the difficulty is raising the dosh to make them.

but cannot really see any reason for the steady rise from my research other than the takeovers in the recent past. I wouldn't have thought that this sector was exactly about to be set alight. Is there a possiblity of a bid coming up i.e. someone in the know? Apologies if I appear naive.

IMO ALG in a quake zone shouldn't really affect the share price, more likely overall sentiment. My only concern is where plant operating equipment is manufactured. That IMO is the uncertainty. .

pathetic. This share could really do with a good old fashioned spike but I don't suppose it will happen.

in the top risers again. Should raise our profile a bit more even if the stunning (not unexpected) news of this morning failed to reel them in.

Nice one Baldy. Thanks. Its very perceptive article. I have felt for some time that AGLD , VGM. SOLG etc are where all the action is. The other area of interest is South America, Patagonia in particular. These areas seem to be about the most stable for investment just at the moment although things change. North Africa is obviously a high risk area at the moment and I will steer clear of them. Russia, you never know what the local ogiliarchs or government might do or change, similarly China, what was the old eastern bloc countries aren't particulalry stable, (the stans that is), either. The only other area I am in is eastern / central (old) Europe Greece / Turkey, likes of ORTAC and Ariane Resources. GOvernments probably encourage gold mining to help out with debt. Exploration is a good gamble right at the moment especially with the sky-high gold price and the prospect of more. Sold some of my AGLD holding recently but will be back in again and building it back up again soon. .

I have been in and out of PAF in the last two years but didn't make much out of them. Maybe just maybe all that will change with the gold hike and the promise of producion. In principal, although I have been in and out of CLF I try to steer clear of African gold mines. Just don't much care for the politics or the way they run the mines there.

I feel that this LSE thing needs to be addressed and responded to. I personally do not believe that it has been solved. There is no transparency about automatic trading and although it is the nature of the beast the least that could be done would be to bring in third parties to enquire into why these outages occurred and what measures have been taken to prevent it happening again. When one considers that LSE is a world leader any repeat will eventually lead to London losing its status as 'a' if not 'the' financial centre of the world (a status IMO gifted to London because it straddles the world time zones) . Yes, I did read about the 'rain covers' but I believe they experience 15-20 metres of rainfall a year across the region which must make an impact on all forms of transportation.
