Indeed
And if the share price improves as ‘the charts’ say it may well do. . .
(Spoiler alert)
News suggests that an important industrial proving trial will complete shortly. . . .
And new money comes in betting on short term Utah and med term Morocco and longer term MSC commerciality
Then will we be happier bunnies 🐇✅

Time flies though eh?
If it takes 46 days for the vessel to get to Western Europe after the Shanghai pick up, which is perfectly normal. We’re in H2!
I did say more in hope than any prediction. But I would seriously like an early delivery, for a change please QED!
Thanks Si_Derman
She has been steaming for six hours or so now and I’d say she ain’t going back! Everything must have been rft.
My guess is back to the cargo loop starting with a big pick up in Shanghai.
As discussed previously I’m thinking that calibration of the scrubber and baseline data measurements of Fit4Power performance on HFO will be done on the loop back to EU.
Be nice if the POC were to commence from first EU visit but not knowing if a fuel supply arrangement is in place? It’s more hope than prediction!
Good luck everyone invested here

I had a look and ‘outlook’ clarifies that statement to make it clear that only Valkor/Utah can be commercial in this Q2/this financial year.
OUTLOOK
· Quadrise expects to complete the site trial in Morocco, conclude a Licence Agreement with Valkor, complete a HAZOP for marine bioMSAR™ use and progress tripartite discussions with MSC and a feedstock supplier during Q2 2023. Conclusion of the Valkor Licence Agreement would deliver commercial revenue in the current financial year, but further funds will be required to see each key project to commercialisation.
· A Fuel Supply Agreement with the client in Morocco, site trials in Utah and the commencement of commercial scale trials on board the MSC Leandra would then follow in H2 2023.
I agree that the new funding is most likely to involve new money from new investors.
The marketplace wants Energy Decarbonisation our partners are leaders in that demand.
I hope to get a chance to take part. But I Don’t think that’s a given. We shall see.
This is of course a brand new build not a retrofit of an existing vessel,
However,
The Liberia-flagged vessel, which is being constructed for MSC, underwent comprehensive testing of various systems and components during the trials carried out on May 1.
The sea trials encompassed a range of crucial tests, including the ALS (Automated Life-Saving) system, side thrust test, anchor test, main engine durability test, scrubber system, and unmanned cabin.
Do one day for sea trials?!
Get everything right first time and hey, off you go!
How long will Leandra need to prove the mods?
If the Wartsila team did everything rft then she’s good to go!
Let’s see?but I guess she will deffo be calibrated with vlsfo on the loop back to EU just so as the efficiencies from the de-rating Fit4Power pack can be set in readiness for BioMSAR/ MSAR trials efficiencies data gathering.
Interesting ta
Our Moroccan client runs its production on a campaign basis so that because of earlier delays that were much publicised, the trial cannot commence until a new production campaign starts.
The earliest that could take place was ‘before the end of April’.
Of course we now hope that has started and our trial is underway?!
More from the Maritime London site this time on CII and how it’s making Owners and Charterers jump
https://www.maritimelondon.com/news/cii-whats-the-impact-on-the-shipping-industry-2
It’s an hour long debate, you have to register but in light of what Wartsila and MSC might be doing with de-rating engines Fit4Power etc. then I thought it worthwhile time spent.
A few snippets;
IMO CII will have genuine commercial impacts not just for owners and charterers but also for importers that have the bill of lading.
Forces collaborations between owners/charterers/importers and therefore commits fuel manufacturers, suppliers and ports to play ball.
Panel had not seen anything in the way of technical developments as yet with the existing fleet.
Catalyst for decarbonisation in shipping due to commercial impacts
Society demands is becoming the real stimulus quoting Lidl for example that will only use A or B rated ships
Drives real industry debate
Driving wedges between owners and charterers
Shipping needs to be dragged into the future, it won’t do it from within, this is much needed unavoidable action!
I’m Glad we’re with MSC going into this
You hit the nail on the head Vince72
Others are trialing ‘Inferior products’ of which there won’t ever be sufficient supply.
I’m discussing a joined-up industry leading plan by industry leaders to introduce our superior products in the near future. :-)
American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) recent publication re Green Shipping Corridors
https://www.maritimelondon.com/news/abs-launches-industry-first-green-shipping-corridors-modelling-and-simulation-service
In a world first, ABS has launched a pioneering new Green Shipping Corridors Simulation service designed to support international design and development of clean energy initiatives.
The advanced modeling capability provides a detailed simulation of the complex nexus of stakeholders involved in corridor development, providing the data required to support policy and investment decisions.
“Green shipping corridors will be at the heart of any successful movement to decarbonize our industry”
The outcomes of the studies provide a common model for data-driven decision making. The model is capable of generating a broad range of rich data including fleet fuel mix, newbuilding vessel investment needs, annualized port investments, fuel demand prediction in specific ports, fuel storage requirements at specific ports, and year-over-year fuel procurement for port bunkering stations and more.
Mmh? Wasn’t it MSC that asked for GreennCorridors to prove new fuels. And requested that fuel suppliers needed to follow their lead in investment in the new fuel economy?
Bigger picture becoming clearer and our partners are a major part of it!
Hello DoN
ABS is global and a leader in certification in the shipping industry
No doubt that Wartsila and/or MSC will be working with these guys regularly
Here’s their website in London
https://www.maritimelondon.com/member/abs-europe-ltd
Interestingly they are world leaders in setting standards for approving the ‘newer’ fuels with advisory papers published on methanol, LNG and drop-in Biofuels use.
I guess that read-across is permissible between class society approvals or it would be pointless choosing one over another?
One sponsor/customer in each segment, Industrial and Shipping changes all this though eh?!
Awareness as MSC and Wartsila for example are seen to come on board
Initial Investment as MSC for example fund the equipment and ships. Already have!
Technical Challenges as Wartsila testing and proof of concept/LONO are completed
Availability as bunker suppliers stock the fuel to support MSC
Environmental Concerns as the huge MSC marketing machine helps roll this out
Just one or two customers then the AI will see the value. . . .
Giddy up QED
Interesting piece thanks Preph and DoN
If the original RTflex-96C retrofit container ship (last year) was owned by MSC, and if the size/design was same (RTFlex-96C only fitted to this type/size of vessel in a specific time window) then it is possible that the bulk of sea trials, for data collection re performance and efficiency, for benchmarking. Could effectively have been largely done already. Leaving a short engine-proving engineering sea trial that could be done on the loop back to EU for Leandra.
I’m thinking MSC Bremerhaven here?
The sister ships were purchased together for more of a reason possibly than at first thought?
When did she have her last class dry dock?
The thing about discussion boards is that’s just what they are, discussions.
We are all guessing, none of us are any better informed than anyone else.
The company has the clearest view, and even they cannot get eta’s or expected timelines right.
We fish for clues and we find snippets that we try to make sense of.
Come on QED pleasantly surprise us in Q2 please
