Just suppose that there is a major ransomware attack, on say the US gov, wit the result that governments get fed up with the use of cryptocurrencies for illegal pursuits. They then, without warning block all online connections to 'kill' the currency. No compensation - nothing - gone. It could happen tomorrow.

Yes, the blockchain technology is worth following. It is increasingly being used in many (non cash) innovative ways.

I think you will find that ultimately gold will win out. In tough times, gold has been the traditional store of wealth. It can be held as jewellry or physical gold. It can be easily traded as it is physical.

I know all you new age youngsters love all things electronic, but someone, somewhere, has the off switch which you don't control. Lets say you end up in a country riddled with strife/war/civil unrest. the government stops access to the internet to try and prevent seditious messaging. You now can't trade your bitcoin and can't feed your family. The old guy next door, with his gold reserves is sitting pretty.

I haven't because I am an investor. I'm not a trader who needs their daily 'fix' of RNS.

I am looking for a long term investment. I have done my reseach and am happy with the company, it's management, and it's products. I keep an eye on the Covid news, but I am really invested in a broad spectrum anti viral that will become a worldwide success.

Short term updates, really are no use at all unless you want to trade off to something else. These traders are not a lot of use for long term investors, the real value of this (and any other company) come from the proper investors.

Besides, there is a lot of additional information out there to give me comfort with my holding here. Remember the new job offers that were reported on no so long ago? You don't make those kinds of decisions without an expectation of a long term business with an income stream to afford these people.

I am relaxed, waiting patiently for reports on the Home trial, P3, any changes in direction (post Trump) in the FDA etc. etc. etc.

A narrowly focused obsession with regular RNS 'fixes' doesn't get me going......

I do agree with you @Hawk, but sadly events in the US do have an important impact on the value of the USD, gold and other precious metals. This in turn has an effect on GGP's value.

Congress has now affirmed Biden / Harris election. This along with the democrats gaining control of both houses will enable a raft of measures which will affect us in the medium term.

This may be god or bad depending on your own political 'flavour', but for GGP I see an acceleration in the price of gold and copper, likely silver too. There may be inflationary pressures bubbling up soon which will alter the picture somewhat.

The really pivotal stuff is happening in the US.

Today the Senate officially counts the electoral college votes. Barring a bit of posturing, the new President Biden will be ratified.
In Georgia, it looks like both the Democrats will be elected to the Senate giving Biden control over both houses. This is a new first for Georgia, a deep south state steeped in Republican roots and the slave trade. To elect their first black senator is something wonderful.

What does this mean for us? well, Biden has the tools to get a grip on the US virus response. He will need all possible tools to sort out the mess over there. This will include therapeutics and we are well positioned to be there too.
He will likely restore funding to the WHO and participate in a more global response, less of the America first - sod the rest of you mentality. This is essential if we are to tackle this on a global level which is the only way to get the virus down to a manageable level!

It will take a year or so for everything to work through, but I strongly believe that SNG will have have an important role to play.

The investors on this board, by and large, fully understand how these things work. Unlike others we are all guided by proven facts and science. In a Pharma stock that's what you expect.

What makes us all laugh is when you, and others of your ilk, pop up with obvious anti vax messaging. It is nonsensical and only shows you up as a fool.

You have the tools these days that simply were not there when I was younger. Investing in shares was not easy, expensive and very much a gamble unless you knew someone who knew someone.

With the internet and being able to deal online cheaply and easily (even on you phone ffs) is something wonderful. The access to information is actually incredible. Not just information about your share holdings, but about the markets and products you are looking at.

12 months ago I knew nothing about block caving, very little beyond my sparse schoolboy geology, nothing about the various ways to drill a prospect. I have learn so much (not just on mining on other shares too, I know more about interferons than I ever did before).

The research you can do on companies, their management, their products and prospects these days were simply science fiction dreams when I started out. The only safe way to invest then was in funds....
