I can't see NEM keeping all their JV's and shareholdings in the area once the processing plant is gone.

So, looking at the big picture

GGP made the HAV discovery

JV with NCM who spent $XXXm in drilling and starting the decline (but n decision to mine, yet)

NCM gets taken over.

GGP get to buy back HAV and gets TELFER as well

Add together the HAV spend (by NCM/NEM) to date with what the upgrade (and tailings issue) cost to Telfer.

Add in also the extra NCM spent on expanding Telfer (keeping things going until HAV ore is at the gates.

Did we just get back all of HAV, plus Telfer for not much difference to the cash spend to date? Free loan/mine.

Agreed @Dip, but also need to see the whole package. i.e. what is the actual Telfer/Hav price and does this $500m include any working capital to get Hav into production - will this be funded separately?

You can read too much into something sometimes.

Image change is likely just a standard, basic, search optimisation technique. A regularly updated website is a positive for the google bots. One way to do this, in the absence of any content updates, is to change an image or two. They may have a library of images to change/update periodically.

Just waiting for all the juicy updates via RNS, must be something due soon.

No doubt Newmont wants to have their Telfer problem sorted and off their hands asap.

Any buyer will need to be comfortable with the tailings dam issue(s), but while this is causing a stop in production it would be a brave BOD decision to sign on the dotted.... unless there is a compelling commercial reason to do so!

Likewise, the EPA / regulatory bodies will need to be comfortable with the incoming new(er) owner having the capacity (financial as well as experience/personnel) to allow the transfer. They may need some sort of guarantee/bond to hold as insurance maybe?

Consider also the remoteness of Telfer and the time/cost of bringing in a required equipment/supplies to sort out the current problems (not like nipping down to B&Q for an extra bag of cement if short).

Not an easy sell nor and easy buy, especially while production is halted.

So, what is happening can only be guessed at, but I'm sure there are some hard negotiations going on between all sorts of companies/agencies etc.
