The SFO currently has 42 cases on the go. Some have stagnated for many years and, probably, are nearing finalisation (see below)
The headcount is 500 ( three more jobs being advertised) If we assume, as a Government Dept., it has 150 admin staff. that leaves 350 folk to do the actual investigation work, or about 8 to each case, so that begs the question why the hell do they take so long to come to a conclusion, especially in this electronic age? (The Alstom cases (qv) commenced in 2009 and the final sentencing takes place tomorrow!)
An additional factor is if this was a private sector company it would be an all hours that God sends working scenario but I suspect that as we are talking Civil Service 9 until 5 (4.30 on Friday) is more likely.That doesn't help.
