The SFO currently has 42 cases on the go. Some have stagnated for many years and, probably, are nearing finalisation (see below)
The headcount is 500 ( three more jobs being advertised) If we assume, as a Government Dept., it has 150 admin staff. that leaves 350 folk to do the actual investigation work, or about 8 to each case, so that begs the question why the hell do they take so long to come to a conclusion, especially in this electronic age? (The Alstom cases (qv) commenced in 2009 and the final sentencing takes place tomorrow!)
An additional factor is if this was a private sector company it would be an all hours that God sends working scenario but I suspect that as we are talking Civil Service 9 until 5 (4.30 on Friday) is more likely.That doesn't help.

IF they don't like Aviva they can always get out and then explain to THEIR shareholders/members why they are binning a cash rich, profitable company with an enviable dividend. Additionally if they don't like the latter then ask Aviva to "rebase" it and see how the market reacts (after it has finished up rolling round the floor convulsed with laughter)

Weird? Not really-the market has had it in for Petrofac for a long time now against the background of a bunch of bean counters sniffing around the company's dealings and ,seemingly, determined to string it out as long as possible. Until this Sword of Damocles is removed and the company can get back to normal any such "good" news will continue to have minimal effect upon the SP. IMHO anyway- I stand to be corrected.

It seems the market has it in for Aviva. They whinge when the company seems to have no sense of direction but when a strategy document is published they still aren't satisfied.

2.3 million patients is I think understating the extent of the problem. UK alone has about 1.3 million but notwithstanding
it is a dreadful affliction and if anywhere near a cure can be identified many people will be released from a life of purgatory.
I speak only as a very mild sufferer of some 40 years and based upon my own experience of it I can not begin to imagine what it is like for the real victims.

The company announces it has decided to hang on to a profitable subsidiary and the SP finishes up top of the Losers Board.
If they had sold it would have increased their massive cash pile but no doubt the market would still have marked down the SP.
