Lti - You've just done it again. I said SOME of the increase in exports to the EU could be due to the bounce from last year's low. Not all. SOME. To me this seems a quite innocuous statement. I don't know why you're getting so hot about it.
And I don't really know what your response to mb has to do with it. Are you getting confused?
Lti - "I haven't a clue what point you are trying to make".
I made the point that SOME of this years rise in exports to the EU could be due to the bounce from last year's low. For some reason you took exception to this statement and rambled off down your usual selective attribution to support your point of view, until you've forgotten the point of the debate. I just assume your desire to control and 'win' gets the better of you. Okay, you win, although I don't know what you've won.
Lti - you're being selective. Here's your full statement..."would an increase in the ftse 100 to over 8,000 be more than a bounce from a low - yes it would be a record high". You posted this to show the high would be more than a bounce. I replied to the effect the statement was "silly" because you were using it to support a discussion about something else. You replied with..."FTSE at over 8,000 would be a record high - I don't call that silly". You've left a bit out, haven't you?

Lti - "a bounce from a low does not equate to a record high".
The figures are good, I'm pleased we're doing well. Yes, given all influencing factors, in these circumstances a bounce could equate to a record high. But I hope our exports to the EU persist, at least at current levels.
Your example of the ftse 100 was just silly. Introducing something into a debate that has no relevance to the matter under discussion in the belief it justifies the position you hold. It doesn't!
And how do you know it's more than a bounce from a low? It may be, but I suggested we wait and see. Does your crystal ball say otherwise?
Lti - "there are always going to be economic circumstances that can hit trade". Really? This is what I was alluding to by stating one.
Lti - "Exports to EU are at a record level".
I didn't say they weren't. Why are you linking these statements to one of my posts, intentionally or unintentionally giving the impression I've said the opposite.
Current export to EU figures are looking healthy. Last year showed a 14% drop, but there were reasons for this. I'm still a bit cautious. Some of this years rise could be a rebound from last year. See how it figures by the end of the financial year. If the £ strengthens, exports might drop.
MV - You're going back the better part of 100 years. Longer than 100 years with one date. Sad and difficult times but please, move on. If not for your sake, then for ours.
Interesting to see how buybacks fare this week, especially from Wednesday onwards. Barc has reached about 75% of target. NWG has reached its date limit but may restart. I'd like to see Lloyds reach 75%+ by the start of August.
Lti - "The French not having enough staff for the number of travellers has NOTHING to do with the UK leaving the EU".
Just to be clear. I never said it had.

Nobody taking up my question of 0849. The answer, by the way was B. For those who think it A, what world are you living in?
I do find it interesting that anti EU membership folk moaned about the UK being part of the EU. We left and now they moan about how we left and the consequences of leaving. Once a moaner, always a moaner I guess.
I need some help with this thread. There's a lot of moaning and finger pointing about current travel difficulties etc. When the UK left the EU, what did those people who wanted this expect to happen? To make it easy, I'll give a choice of two to start things off:
A] Other EU countries would think 'plucky little UK is leaving us, we must do all we can to help them'
B] Other EU countries would think 'they're leaving, we'll have to see what we can make out of this'.
Okay, that's fine. Just wondered.
Lti - it's up to you what you post, but I've sometimes wondered why you keep telling us about your share dealing?
Guit - not disappointed. Too old to bother with disappointment. But old enough to know that what's said about me reflects on who says it. Their words say nothing about me, although I'm not completely immune to the odd compliment. Frustration often brings out the worst in us. As someone once said 'I have infinite patience. Lasts about 10 minutes'. And I can see how easy it is to get frustrated with some on this chat site. But keep going. ATB.
This is getting serious. Can we not get back to the usual venom spitting hostility we're used to?
Gazz - You mean 'discalculia'. Something experienced by quite a lot of commentators on this site, given their wild and unsupported stabs at an SP prediction.
