Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Away with the fairies again Chips. Good luck until reality bites again.
No dividend for 2022 - promise of future rewards, all being well.
Positive - positive - positive, I found it. Hope it feeds through Into SP.
My sense is for the SP to finish fairly flat on Wednesday. Lloyds SP took a hit in sympathy with the NWG drop. I doubt Lloyds will post significantly better or worse results than NWG, so SP drop already done. I sold some at 54p. Holding the rest to see how markets move.
"When a couple dozen people in a country literally have more money than the lowest 50%, there is clearly an issue." - Careful Mach, you're talking sense. It's bound to upset MV and other hot heads and fantasists on here. They can't seem to put their opinions and concerns into any sort of reasonable context. They could try reading Schama's 'A History of Britain', it may not change their views but should give a better idea if how we got to where we are and how unfairness gets ingrained. Although I expect they'd rather just stick with intolerance and hatred.
MV - Put your concerns in the context of £billions, if not £trillions that pass through UK banking each year. It may help to put your concerns into some sort of perspective. Of course fraud exists, and it's best to be aware. I've had many fraud calls. There's a simple solution. Tell them to write or send an email (and don't give either addresses if they ask for them), then place your receiver back on its cradle (or hang up the mobile). It works everytime.
No problem Gate 13
I've never worked in a bank, but bank workers I know are honest with clients money.
Thanks for that MV, although I wouldn't really call your info resesrch. By "A lot" I took it to mean eiher a lot of individuals perpetrating fraud, or a lot of cases. This is just a few individuals, the vast majority of bank staff are not fraudsters. I belueve most scams are successful through clients providing their details or transfering money to scammers. It's not the bank's fault.
lucky lurker- "Only a hair brain wouldn't use a credit card"
Wouldn't go that far. It's a matter of choice, but I do see my cashback card as money for nothing.
Thanks MV. Perhaps you will be kind enough to direct me to the research.
Gazz - I use a cashback credit card to pay for practically everything. It just gets paid off once a month. No temptation to overuse, no interest to pay and have had no problem in over 30 years. Once a year a good credit appears on the account. Don't really see a problem.
Gate 13 - "Eurozone retail sales fall"
So what? How does thIs affect the UK?
MV - "A lot of fraud is actually carried out from within our banks by their staff, who pass on information to others."
Usual made up rubbish. Define "A lot".
Most LSE sites have their Cassandras and polyannas. They cancel each other out. As is often advised, DYOR.
djframboise - "GateBoy - Express or Mail? There are other options"
Mad magazine, most likely.
I see a recent poll as to whether the UK is better outside or in the EU came up with a 58.5% / 41.5% split in favour of 'in'. An interesting breakdown when age of respondent is considered. This should get the fur flying on here, unless, like me, they couldn't really care less anymore.
Not quite a 'Ratner' from the CEO, but he could have taken the opportunity to better emphasise the expertise and quality within the company. We'll see what long term effect his comments have once results appear. My crystal ball says profit will improve as aviation industry continues to pick up. Share price should rise in the long term, but could be further falls in the short term.
I found myself in two minds about the speech. On the one hand frank and up front with how it is, on the other a little short on the impact of difficult times and ongoing staff commitment. Sitting on the fence, I sold half my holding in response to his comments.
Crosland - Do you not think your reaction to a badly chosen phrase by eccles04 was a bit excessive? I lost relatives to covid, but don't wish disease on anyone for a bit of insensitivity on their part.
TheFarEnd
No problem. Why do you think i have a problem? The context, I believe, was one of freedom to act. My point was that the freedoms we take for granted can be taken away or curtailed in many ways. In the case of European travel, voted away.
