Bit the bullet. Sold OCDO.
Used the W%R and Stochastic graphs on Ocado as I watched it rise, and as the indicators changed direction / crossed the action lines I sat staring at the sell page as the price changed up a bit, down a bit, wider spread, up a bit .. and sold at

1194

Still a loss but far less loss than last few days would have been.
Now can try trading to get out of the loss as and when conditions allow!

Of course likely to hit 1250 now! If it falls I may buy back in.

Yes, I saw some expert mention it may survive 3 days on hard surfaces, less time on soft.
And as O said, it's already in USA.
More talk of sports events, concerts, festivals being postponed / cancelled...

OCDO bouncing up now, tempted to sell at a loss at 1171 but are we expecting continued short term rise or just a spike with fall later?

Re: surface thing, yes, it's just a best guess from english boffins, but is reasonable as it is for most other human viruses which may last 4 hours outside a host.

Aussie F1 is now "postponed", Chinese already cancelled, Bahrain under threat despite running with no fans ( since the F1 cres are getting it ), Vietnam unlikely to run as they banned travel from those previously in Italy ... so first race may be in Europe in May ... Spain follows a few weeks later!

The virus apparently outside a human body, can survive some minutes ( 20 mins ? ) to about an hour, and don't like the warm.

So my guess is ( and to not affect trade / goods in ! ) cargo will be "safe" clean of virus, maybe they will spray it with disinfectant / alcohol or similar to make sure, and leave carrier staff on the boat / plane?

Since the no travel Euro countries have that Schengen zone, no passports and no passport stamps, so no proof IF you have visited that country in last 14 days. Seems that's why us non schengen zone countries are allowed in. Also europe isn't doing well on cases / deaths esp. in Italy and spain, hence Trump's comment - Europe isn't doing enough! Not sure what more Italy can do!!!

Trump and Euro ( the 26 countries in passport free regions only tho! ) travel bans. Not UK or Ireland, Poland, Romania...

According to BBC news all morning the markets all over have collapsed! Airlines down 11%, oil down, ALL major indices down 5%+ .. commentary says worse fall in years, top 10 falls ... FTSE 100 was 5500 ish IIRC.

Spain playing football in empty stadiums, Several F1 teams members tested positive but Aussie race still on this weekend - at the moment - English football allegedly going to play ALL 2020 games with no spectators. Spain has just declared that too for a period!

I think the budget was positive - helps the low earners, non sick pay worker, and major infrastructure plans - roads, potholes, railway, northern powerhouse stuff, de-centralise govt depts to north, loads of spend on NHS and new hospitals, housing, teaching, Tax changes to remove some inequality, business rates help, employment grant increases etc.

As you say T, lets see if they deliver.
O - yes, watched most of the budget, was quite well presented and a few good laughs!

Thanks for the thoughts, I'm fine a bit fed up watching the trends downwards and can't spot when it will change so not trading yet... initial loss on first sale is scary and no confidence yet I will buy back in cheaper.
No trading cash left to buy cheap shares, mainly tied up in Ocado and MCRO ...

SO much news and near future activities across the world, and budget tomorrow, I'll sit in a bunker and follow rule 8 and 9 !!
Watch and wait.

Also looking at the Stochastic and W% graphs on HL .... see if that gives me a heads up ...

You guys seem to be doing OK with the trades, keep it up!

Sorry, I hadn't said I was using new money to buy into lower price MCRO; my reluctance to let go at a loss and with a falling price made my FOMO instinct kick in, so bought some more. Now I have a reasonable pile of shares so a smaller swing makes money / share increase after costs. As soon as the continuing downward trend eases I'll have another go!
I can easily see now how it works and the money can be made by several smaller trades.

Playing with some numbers on what I could have done if I had traded OCDO this morning with it's 20 - 30 range - if I sold at 1120 and bought back at 1100 or 1095.
I would have gained 2% or 2.27% shares ... respectively.

Just need to get better to spot spikes / shakes that are not just the ongoing up or down trend, confidence to sell/buy, and ignore the current £££ loss and trade thru it!

Not at all - the initial small holding trades I managed 2.8% increase in value / shares. That was when it was bobbing around 760 - 810 sp
Yesterdays buy was new money .... so lowering average cost .. but in the red about 12% down!
The divi will help of course!

As I held on to my OCDO shares as they fell.... down there too! Several tranches bought in the 1200 - 1270 range :-o

S - I wasn't being critical of you / your buying, just that I bought at 700 and by time I noticed SP was 670!!!

Me amateur...

S - YOU buy too early!!! I had a limit buy on MCRO at 700p ... so of course it activated just after 10:00 as the SP dropped to the 670's !!!
Still, it reduced my average price for MCRO.

These downward trends look like making it hard to trade.... although OCDO had a 25 p range this afternoon!

I've learned most about daily trading from the (old Ocado ) chat and now this one, mainly from you and S.
Previously I had just looked at share price when I wanted to cash some in for an expense like new car or extension!

But, as I had assets sitting in 0.1% to 1% interest accounts or ISA's, that were not critical to my daily needs, and I do have a good ex final salary pension, I thought I would speculate. So 1% a year would be OK, 1% a week would be good, anything more would be wonderful!!

While I am not trading 10,000's of shares, as S showed me a week or so ago, even 1000 in a stock is £10 a p rise in SP, so 10p rise is £100 so makes it worthwhile even after fees... and looking today I really should have sold at peak and bought at low and made several hundred quid each time / 3 - 5% more shares!

I am sure I'll get it, I'll let you know how I get on!
